I didn't list the prices of each because the price varies on the Milwaukee depending on which battery or kit you choose and the Stihl BG 55 has been discontinued.

Almost 2 years later and this video is still relevant. I thought the cost of the Milwaukee was expensive but now I'm seeing the advantage. I don't have prior Milwaukee M18 products as I'm switching my entire platform from Dewalt. Thanks for doing this video. Very helpful!!!

Hey, at least I have something to watch.
I just got myself a Echo gas power. I'm pretty happy with it. Also, purchased a Homlite weed eater that I am VERY surprised with how well built it is.
I have NEVER heard anything bad about the Echo brand, congratulations!

Love my Stihl weed wacker...But in this case might go with the Old Milwaukee. Cheaper, I'm guessing, and a little less nosey! Great Review Bluelight!👍
The Milwaukee will definitely be more cost-effective and time saving in the beginning and in the long run. You'll probably pay a little more at the beginning for the Milwaukee if you get the bigger HO battery and rapid charger, but it won't take long to come out ahead. And the time you’ll save is huge!
I've got a Stihl FS 80 that is about 24 years old that I swear by. I'm wanting to buy the Milwaukee trimmer for the same reasons that I bought this blower, it's just hard to justify it right now. I think I will keep the Stihl and just install a pole saw attachment on the end. The FS 80 has a straight shaft so it shouldn't be a problem. Thanks PTP!
I ordered the Milwaukee because of the portability and because I hate small gas engines, they require too much maintenance. I already have many M18 tools. I'll be using the Milwaukee blower to keep my stone walls in my woods clean and to clean up the leaves around my firepit in the back woods. The tool is also great for drying off cars (no paint contact!) after washing and blowing out the garage. Definitely go with the 9 or 12 ah battery.

That's my thoughts. I've been using the same old battery tech for the past 24 years so I was literally floored with all the new technology and capabilities.
Pretty nice Danno! I use a corded one to dry off my Harley after washing it. I may upgrade to the Milwaukee after this one dies (if it ever does). Those batteries are $$$. I wouldn't have guessed it would beat the Still. Good info bro.
The batteries are expensive but if you have other tools that they're compatible with, it's a win-win and definitely worth it. Thanks!

I had to go cordless because my elderly parents are scared of dust/dirt so I needed something that was fast for commando style lawn care when they are away, saw the milwaukee on sale at the time for 160 with a 5ah battery, and was pleasantly surprised at how powerful it was for a cordless. Needless to say, I hid it from them for over 3 years, now that they found out about it, my dad loves it and my mom tolerates it. LOL.

I have the stihl but unfortunately my city wants to ban gas blowers so I may have to switch to the Milwaukee

I have been wanting to trade in my corded blower for that Milwaukee. Between 3 Jeeps, guns and tools..... lol money is always a problem!
I can definitely relate. I've given Milwaukee a couple of grand, Ruger a couple of grand and just spent a thousand bucks on my truck, all within just a few months time. I'm starting to run out of receipt hiding places for the boss-lady. It's gonna be a bad day if she finds the gun or gun accessories receipts lol. It might be the end of the Bandit 😳

POWER! POWER! POWER! MORE POWER!!!!!!!! Stihl makes a good product. light weight is always better. mine is a plug in. as long as i have a long power cord, and pay my electric bill lol. time is no limit lol. good video
My Stihl FS-80 weed eater is 24 years old and has had the hell worked out of it. When I first bought it, I used it on a farm to trim around 1,100 peach trees so its definitely proven itself. I'm a hardcore Sthil fan but times are changing and it's got lithium-ion written all over it lol.

Milwaukee blower is amazing. My boss has one and I'm gonna borrow to convince my dad how good it is, he's already got some 5.0 batteries laying around and I have a 12.0 that stays at the house but he should be fine to do the 1/3 acre yard with a 5.0. my boss uses his to dry off his st bernard after giving him a bath with the hose lol

If the battery blowers are as good as you claim what are the professional yard guys using on the daily?
I have no idea, I'm not a professional yard guy. I'd say most are still using gas since they've probably had their equipment for a while before battery technology really took off. Like me for instance, I've had my Stihl trimmer for over 25 years but I recently just purchased the Milwaukee battery trimmer because it's a better fit for me at the moment.
@@Bluelightbandit I think if you have an average yard and already have some milwaulkee batteries the value is there and the electric blowers are nice for the fact you slap a battery in and go. If i was to buy electric I personally would take a hard look at toro 60v flex force trimmer, blower combo. It's $200 with a battery and charger so that's hard to beat. I can't speak to how it would compare. I currently have all gas and it works so I can't justify buying electric right now.
That's why I went with Milwaukee, I literally just switched from Dewalt 18v tools and am invested now with Milwaukee. This definitely isn't for everyone. Thanks!
What I love about battery powered tools over gas,,,,,,, no warm up, no chokes, no maintenance... ok low..... but no engine to upkeep Milwaukee FTW
Yep! Like I mentioned in the video, I honestly can't think of a logical reason to buy any gas powered equipment now. Especially since I own stock in Milwaukee now lol.
I would take the stihl if I had to use one all day. I couldn't afford the Milwaulkee. Those batteries are really expensive. It was almost like you were scared to full throttle the stihl. With the milwaukee you'll easily be into for $400 by the time you buy the blower and a couple batteries. You buy a gallon of gas and bottle of oil your talking $5 and you could go hours on that. I've had a Stihl blower for 10 years and I have done zero maintenance except cleaning the spark arrestor and it still runs awesome.
It's not for everyone. Even though I've had great service out of my Sthil equipment, I'm tired of mixing fuel and letting the engine warm up before I can use it.
Wasn't afraid of pulling full throttle. It was probably still getting warmed up whenever I started using it. I don't have a dog in the fight so I couldn't care less which one performed better. I still have both machines.
Oh and BTW, ethanol free 93 octane is $5 a gallon where I live. Food for thought.
Then there's the mixing oil also, so it's not cheap to run gas operated either.
@@Bluelightbandit Since your video Milwaukee will run specials like if your buy a drill driver combo kit you get a free tool and this is one they offer. It would be awesome as a free tool ad on. A buddy got one this way and I tried it. It is a solid blower with decent power.
The stihl electric blower would out perform the petrol one also
I'm really surprised that electric blower outperforms the gasoline blower , I bet if it was a two stroke it would be a different story
It actually is a 2 stroke believe it or not. Dude, I was surprised too. These lithium-ion batteries have really come a long ways. As soon as I can afford it, I'll be retiring my Stihl weed-eater and chainsaw with the Milwaukee battery powered ones. I had my doubts at first but after researching them and testing this and the chainsaw, I'm sold. They're just so damn expensive lol. Thanks man!

@@cjlife8538 It's a 2 stroke, trust me. Two strokes require the gas and oil to be mixed together whereas 4 strokes are separate. You can tell by the sound also. I've been mixing the gas and "2 stroke oil" in it for several years now. My Stihl trimmer, chainsaw and blower all use the same mixed gas from the same can.

Warm them up or you may need another one because of a piston/bearing seize.

The description mentions the cost. The Milwaukee "may" be more expensive out the gate with batteries but it will make the difference up quick.

326$ for battery "DEALS", two batteries that will die in maybe 20 min of use and another 3hrs to charge em both.
sorry buddy not comparable...your restricting CFM on the stihl with that tapered down tip while the milwaukee is open....FYI I have both aswell.
I compared 2 blowers that I have, nothing more, nothing less. Both blowers have the original tip that came on them, I didn't switch anything for any reason.

Its why I still love my bg55 but if dallas bans gas blowers than I will have to use my corded toro super blower vac or get battery powered
Agreed. I'm having a hard time going to battery operated. 200 dollars plus is outrageous to pay for a battery. Most everyone that has the Milwaukee says get a 9 or 12 amp hour battery. The 6 amp hour ones right now are 200, imagine what 9 and 12 amp hour are.
Battery dies no more work until charged,
Gas runs out fill it and back to work....
Put extra battery in and voila, work again!

Thank goodness this technology is developing......it will only get better. i.e., longer lasting power pack and quieter. The gas blowers are a 1960s tecnology and they are anoying, noisy and smell as heck. Electric will be healthier for the user also.
