    Thank you very very much for the video review and I’m so glad you enjoy the game. I really wish the game could be cheaper but I would be cutting out half of the game to make it that $60 price point. Even with games like Thunderstone Quest you’ll get about 1000 cards for about $100, but in Lost Pixel you’ll get 1000 cards for about $100 but unlike Thunderstone, every single card is different. I really did work hard on this game and did my best to make it a Rogue-like simulation in the shape of a board game. Maybe one day Kickstarter would be a viable option. Thank you again though for your review and I truly hope you enjoy the expansions!

      Hi. So i take you are just an amateur game designer that creates games more as an hobby? some thoughts.
      1- is the game only for solo playing?
      2- what were your inspitations for this one? ( it reminds me of a mix of Fighting fantasy and early final fantasy/DD
      3- price is what evryone keeps mentioning. If it would improve the game´s chances for sucess, why not cut it in half? 2 shorter campains of 5 levels. It would lower the price of entry and those who dont mind the price could upgrade their game/experience.
      Anyway, just from this video, let me tell you did a good job.

    So glad you enjoyed this gem of a game. I knew you would. :)
    I would love to see the designer get connected with a publisher that could make him some money and at the same time get it distributed with a lower price point. This was my #1 bright spot of gaming in my 2020 countdown vid. It’s a wonderfully inviting game to play.
    N.B. I have played it using DungeonQuest tiles and a random rolling mechanism to see what you encounter on each tile. That worked really well (and decreased the game’s footprint significantly.) I also make some modifications to how spells work, thus allowing characters to “see” more of the spell cards each game. Great stuff.

      It seems like a game just waiting for house rules to add some layers. The base layer is solid, making for an easy job off adding more elements.

    Thanks for the video Daniel. I often think of your channel as appealing to a niche segment of gamers, and this video probably applies to a niche segment of that niche due to the price point. But I'm very happy to see you give coverage to games that don't get much exposure or that most people won't even be able to obtain. I can find plenty of videos on all the current "hot" games everywhere. Seeing products like this being given some love is what keeps me coming back to your channel.

    I’m sold. I just completed check out for all expansions. I’m been searching for the perfect Roguelike game for years and am happy to take a chance on another. D100 Dungeon, Bag of Dungeon, Hero’s Journey Home, Hand of Fate, and some others have been misses for various reasons.
    Hopefully this checks all the boxes I’m looking for. My only reservation is that Bag of Dungeon wan’t just 1 or 2 steps too light for me, I couldn’t even get through a single play. But I’m willing to take a chance.

    Thanks for sharing yet another hidden gem out there! I'm pretty intrigued.
    Sorry for being so wordy as I consider myself old school.
    This game looks and feels almost like an analog version of Pixel Dungeons (the "Shattered" version being my all time favorite game on my phone for years), with much bigger varieties of treasures and monsters.
    I see that the monsters and treasures are sorted in levels. How about the dungeon tiles? If the levels don't differ much then it may feel samey over time.
    For the Star Wand, I wonder if you can activate only one type of elemental attack at a time instead of all four at the same time, which seems a bit OP (and less thematic imo).
    The timer mechanism is a nice touch to keep the game moving and to avoid tedious grinding and farming. (btw Pixel Dungeons & Co. achieve this by linking XP and loots to character's levels, hence no limitless farming)
    There seems to be no mention about the expansions. Do they add yet more stuff or introduce different themes?
    At first sight the price tag seems too much but I personally don't think the game is that much overpriced, compared with similar games like Thunderstone Quest. Also recently I acquired a complete set of the good old Dungeoneer. The whole set (8 boxes altogether) contain 770 cards and cost around $15 on average per box.
    A crowdfunding (KS, Gamefound, or Indiegogo) project for this title should lower the cost and price a bit and will be a sure hit, though.
    Possibly the reason why people feel put off by the price is due to the game not carrying a big brand.
    I really like this kind of indie projects which both scratches nostalgic itch and gives a breath of fresh air in the gaming scene among all those bloated projects out there. Had this project handled by cmon or mythic I am quite sure it will turn into a deluxified minis fest with a triple all-in option on FOMO.
    How would you compare this game with other overlooked titles like Dungeoneer, Jack Dawkid's D series (Dungeon, Island, Adventure), and Iron Helm?

    • @MrJankTv
      @MrJankTv 3 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      There are many dungeon tiles that make each floor seem different. Plus, the expansions do add new themes such as the Crystal Caverns, Ember Chasm, and Swamps. In these new themed areas, you can find new Set Items that get more powerful the more of a specific set you have. That expansion is called Risk and Reward. All the expansions offer new and fun mechanisms and mini games to keep each game quite different.

      I just found out that the art is all freeware. That hurts. It was one of the strongest reasons I wanted to purchase the game, because it looked like such a passionate art project. Ouch, $130 for public domain images.... I know it shouldn't change my end user experience but it just feels different to me.

    • @TheDungeonDive
      @TheDungeonDive  3 ปีที่แล้ว

      the art was made by a community of pixel-art artists who offer up their art to use on things. What you are paying for with this game is simply the fact that it's nearly 1,000 cards all printed on demand. That's just very expensive.

    Hello dungeon dive. I bought Quest for the lost pixel in 2021. I watched your video and you mentioned the rules have been updated and balanced because the artifacts that you could carry made the game too easy. As stated, i went to the gamecrafter and downloaded the rules, but they are the exact same as the copy of the rules that came with my game! Can you tell me how i can get the updated rules that corrects the overpowerful artifacts? Thanks in advance! Love your channel and i am a very happy subscriber of yours!

    Hello, I've seen this game a few years ago and didn't buy it cause price. I'm glad to see its price has been explained. Looking back I've spent $400+ ON Lord of the Rings LCG over the years. So in theory quest for the pixel isn't that expensive compared to gatcha expansions from lotr lcg by a big publisher fantasy flight.

      This past weekend I spent $75 on Arkham Horror card game. 2 sets, with about 350 cards. So when you look at the basic numbers, Arkham Horror LCG costs a lot more in terms of how many cards you're getting. It's also pretty much a play once and you're done with the campaign game, before you have to spend more money to buy more cards. With Lost Pixel, the replay is really high, because it's more like an arcade game. Just thinking about it. Yes, I wish it was cheaper, for everyone. I wish the designer actually made some money on it! It sucks it's so expensive, but I don't feel insulted by the price. I've spend $200 on multiple Kickstarters that ended up sucking, even with all the stuff. Price is a weird thing, for sure. This really should be Kickstarted. He'd probably make a killing!
