    I’ve recently acquired two beautiful air rifles a boxed Walter lgu and last of the Birmingham made air rifles the Wembley longbow both mint con, I’ve put sights on both and had a little plink in the garden and I have to say that the quality and finish on the longbow is beautiful I just cannot put it down.

    I adjusted my first stage on my Walther lgv and it's very short and lightweight pull but you have to tinker with it for a while but you can get them right, and I'm sure the triggers are the same, great video

    I had him tune my .22 for me. BRILLIANT and well worth the £180.00.

    Thank you for a nice video. what is the brand, model and specs of the scope?

  • @ratishpatil4582
    @ratishpatil4582 4 ปีที่แล้ว

    I would never risk doing this with the scope on.secondly the missing piston skirt would affect and lapse accuracy over time though it may show accuracy initially.third,loss of specific mass and weight in the piston will make you shift over to lighter pellets now.would like to know how this AR is doing now

    Hi great video ,what is the benefit of a short stroke ?

    • @shootingatdawn
      @shootingatdawn  4 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Changes the shot cycle. You get a faster, happier shot cycle. Feels totally different.

    I love my standard LGU so I will be hard pressed to fix something which is not broken...
    the long travel first stage is just something to get used to and I don't think it hurts accuracy.
    I will consider a spring-piston Mod if you tell me it improves power by 20% or more (I live in the US) without hurting Accuracy.
    Thanks for the information.

    • @shootingatdawn
      @shootingatdawn  9 ปีที่แล้ว +3

      I wouldn't know about power improvements as these mods are all designed to improve the shot cycle. For a 12 ft/lb rifle, the shot cycle is astounding. Virtually no sight picture movement on firing.

    Hi can you please confirm if there is any kind of Oring or seal inside breach. In my case there is an oring just on top of barrel where pellet is loaded but no seal inside breach. Is it normal?

    Would he be able to do my bsa lightning xl tactical in .22. I took it out of the stock yesterday but the spring inside looks under a lot of pressure and I didn't want to take it apart incase I broke it lol. But I was trying to see if it had a top hat delrin etc but all I could see was a really thick spring. I was going to get a vmach kit. I think it's the 1st model. Any help from anyone would be much appreciated. Thank you. Mark.

  • @justliketolook
    @justliketolook 9 ปีที่แล้ว

    Is there a way to grease the o-ring with out taking the gun apart .Is there a liquid lube you can just put a few drops in the hole where the air comes out of .

    • @shootingatdawn
      @shootingatdawn  9 ปีที่แล้ว

      +justliketolook
      I would imagine the quick answer to that is no. If you were to put liquid lube through the transfer port, then it would end up in exactly the place that you don't want it. It is oil in front of the piston head that causes a springer to diesel. There would be smoke galore (at best)....

    • @justliketolook
      @justliketolook 9 ปีที่แล้ว

      I have a rws with a leather seal right now but I was going to do the o-ring conversion . the way I lube the leather is to drop 3 drops of beeman chamber oil into the transfer port. That is the way I keep it lubed. and I have had the gun since 1987 and it still works great . They call it chamber oil. www.amazon.com/RWS-Chamber-Lube-Needle-0-5-Ounce/dp/B00H7KZJO8/ref=sr_1_1?ie=UTF8&qid=1449829996&sr=8-1&keywords=rws+chamber+oil. I thought you could do the same thing with a rubber o-ring seal . I have never taken my gun apart to lube the leather seal so I figured I wouldn't have to take it apart just to keep the o-ring lubed . Beeman has on the directions to put 3 drops every 500 shoots . Are you saying you can't lube the o-ring the same way? Are you saying after 500 shoots you take your gun apart and lube the o-ring ?

    • @shootingatdawn
      @shootingatdawn  9 ปีที่แล้ว

      Wow! Well thats a new one on me mate. Every gun I have ever stripped and rebuilt - if I ever got any lube whatsoever in front of the piston seal I would have to strip it and clean it out because of dieseling and smoke. I have only ever stripped Weihrauch, AA, Walther and Theobens though...

    • @justliketolook
      @justliketolook 9 ปีที่แล้ว

      Even If you put the lube on the oring when its apart doesn't the lube coat the cylinder walls all the way to the top after the first shot ,then once the piston is compressed back the lube is still on the cylinder in front of the o-ring and not just behind it ? Don't you want the cylinder walls to have lube in front of the o-ring so when its going about 200 mph the o-ring won't burn into the cylinder? How is it possible to keep lube behind the o-ring ?

    • @shootingatdawn
      @shootingatdawn  9 ปีที่แล้ว

      Good point - I keep thinking about parachute seals.... To be fair, the grease that Nick provided with the O rings is thick white stuff so it will certainly act how you describe.

      @@shootingatdawn thanks for replying. I've got the 5.5mm 20 joule/14.7 fpe model (I live in the US). I'm getting about 13.5 fpe with AA 16 gr and the trans port seems to be ~2.5mm. I'm thinking about opening it up some but was told that I shouldn't. I was told that I should champher the tp from the inside. I really don't know what I should do at this point. I think I have piston bounce due to the small tp but don't really know how to determine for sure if thats what is happening. What I do know is that pulling the trigger sets off all kinds of bucking bronc in my hands. Advice is welcome.
