loved the video and stoked to see you on here! quick question: for your master clock sync from the computer to the analog rytm, are you using overbridge or a dedicated interface? I’m so jealous of your luck with sync - even with adjusting negative latency, I never get reliable sync from the computer…
I love this dude. He reaffirms my workflow... not revisiting old stuff and lack of editing... I am no way the musician he is, but I love it just the same.
I feel so validated by hearing his workflow. It is really tough to sit down and just edit together a club track with a mouse and screen...I've had hardcore ADHD and I still don't wanna take drugs for it...but it seems like inspiration and capturing a performance are the only ways to get things done! Thanks for sharing with us Mr. Gonzalez!
Future and ancient at the same time. I felt like I was watching scientist creating life in an underground lab. I would sell my soul to hang out in that room for a day.
Yeah man, I’m the same, doing it on the mouse and keyboard my eyes glaze over, I just end up preset surfing, but with Modular it’s physical. Most fun I had ever making music.
I love Joey's approach. My current approach is pretty much the opposite of his. Very carefully composed and arranged, with lots of tedious editing MIDI in a DAW. I wish I could work more like he does, but my musical ideas tend to be too intricate and not well-suited to jamming.
I'm new to production. The Elektron Machines he has: Elektron Analog MKII, Elektron Analog Four MKII, Elektron Digitone, and Elektron Octatrak MKII are very powerful synthesizers (I have the RYTM MKII and Analog Four MKII). They're not the most expansive but their sequencers are the most powerful in the market and so easy to implement. At 5:02 minutes:seconds, I believe he has a Waldorf Quantum, one of the most powerful synthesis synthesizers in the market.
Love it! I like to record stems from my hardware synths to SDcard then add and edit into Ableton Live or Logic Pro to make the hardware aspect more jam focused.
i had every elektron box and sold each of them expect of digitakt 2 and octatracks. i think that the perkons workflow is much more reduced but much more superior. much more faster results.
Always an inspiring artist :) I won't agree regarding not reading manuals and I would always encourage people to do so, even before purchasing any synth or drum machine, as it can helps a lot understanding how much it can cover. Congrats and keep it up! All the best on your new release Joey!
@@aki_gong6271 the Roland R8 manual was easier to understand than my first time reading an elektron manual and trying to understand wtf trigless trigs are 😜
@@blush_response Hahahaha alright :) That is far enought, I get your point. I won't get either into slide notes or parameters, conditional trigs, or even trig mutes then xD
Elektron's manual is totally ok but only when you took some time and got used to the device. After that it is pretty readable and easy to follow. In case you just start then better to not go beyond quick start guide and play a bit
My cat once produced a sequence with my ableton push ...😜 thanks for the great video.... Where do you insert the negative clock shift in ableton and how long is your delay? Thanks so much and kind regards
Genuine question- aren’t the modular modules technically made on a computer? So isn’t it all 0s and 1s anyway ? What’s the difference then? Especially if you are recording it into Ableton so again 010101.
Thanks for having me 🖤
We need you to make a video and give us some of you octatrack knowledge. You seem so fluent with it ❤
Pumped for this one.

So when will we have an Electronic Beats Oscillator blind test? 🤓
🔥Excellent🔥
The cats are just there for acoustic treatment

your workflow is mashing ?
@@theDgrader I can already tell you are a shitty person.
I'm happy to see that every producer's cat ever just doesn't care about boundaries. "oh sorry are you working on this?"
Literally more useful than me in the studio as well
That cat is actually contributing to the novelty of his tracks by turning the knobs and messing with the cables
"creating an environment for your brain to live in for a while" so good

this is a really cool guy. Love his aproach to the production.
For me, him and Filmarker are making the most exciting electronic music at the moment.
Joey has the best synth reviews on TH-cam! Great vid Tech Talk crew! I hope you had plenty of lint brushes with you
his reviews are the best, i love his brutal honesty
That's definitely not a pet free studio. Joey living the dream. Keep slaying hombre.

Wicked stuff, so inspiring.
A month or so ago I found Joey's channel and he quickly became my favorite synth youtuber. I just dig his approach and sound.
Same here

A long term due video...Joey approach and behavior into the techno scene is pleasant and enjoyable
I just recently found Joey Gonzalez. I am digging his sounds, philosophy, and content.

Having that fluffy white thing walking about on your modular is a good way to introduce some randomness. I have two of them.
'I hate editing'...love that....
Wow this was great 👏👏
Thanks for a peek into your setup Blush Response! This is awesome!
Man, love this SO much. Thanks for doing this video. Awesome music Joey!
That's a killer setup... I'm on my way to having one like it. Keep makin music, homie
I just love this guy, no fucking around at all... just GO 100%. Would love to have a beer with him!
Amazing. Such an inspirational video. Thank you. 👊
Love it! Great insight into someone I really dig a lot. Thanks!
💙Blush, one of the best synth channels out there.
"No path is invalid". That is a thing of beauty.
i love Dist ColdFire! he's using the Drums Ripper preset.
Great guy,
I miss the RME adat I sold to him years ago!
Haha great episode with the visual fx at the end. Amazing stuff.
we already know who's the mastermind there.😸

You can definitely hear Joey's "more subdued" approach to song writing comes through in good music.
what is the track in the background around 2:30? love blush response!

🥰🥰🥰🥰
Hardware workflow Love. 100% respekt
Nice one! 🖤 I've a very similar approach in the studio. The track has to be almost finished before I even press record. Hate editing too. 😇
could've been longer, i would watch a hour diving into this setup details
Check his own TH-cam channel for more Tech videos
Excellent! I learned so much from this.
Make a movie just on that cat..
If you write the story 😄

best 2 things in that studio...black cat, white cat!

I think he's speaking specifically about Elektron manuals.

does anyone know which synthesizer stand he uses?
Very cool...
lol this guy made me buy a synth arrest him
why not an acme 4 or multi clock?? this kind of set up needs one of 2 devices. specially the octa and all the other elektron stuff.
YEAAAAAAH

FVCK YES!
What is the value of that gear? 100K?
Would like to see more gifted electronic music musician that can create real and warm technosoul with synths and keyboards.

They are analog oscillators that he is referring to. Elements of the modular are digital.
Where‘s that highquality-print book for „cats in studios“?
No Limitations here!! Nothing like tangible Hardware I really want to switch back to Hardware because it sounds so much Fatter, Great Gear Great Vid
