I wish CBB media, virtually any of it, would focus on promoting things that are in the best interests of their customers, fans, instead of acting as quasi-player agents. Basically every argument you hear from CBB media about more payments, more chaos, etc. is exactly what you’d hear from ply agents.
Media moved the Overton window which led us to where we are now and won’t even take the win. 20 million, we need more payments. Killing midmajors, downplaying that by saying difference in resources will just be increased magnitude when they know it’s worse. Your customers are fans, not players. You’d think media get a % of any NIL deal cut with the rhetoric they spew over and over. You can almost tell Norlander doesn’t like this but won’t say it. Parrish would watch everyone except the power programs burn to the ground and say “good, I don’t care about anything except the plys”
i would conversely state that calling this scenario a settlement is a misnomer. If non-Power 5 conference teams can opt out of this deal, than how could this considered to be settled at all? if its not settled within the conferences expected to pay, and it has not been accepted by the judge as an appropriate settlement, isn't this just the initial negotiaton by the same organization that has proven their inability to succeed in court cases?
In big business sports, the best players are there longer than 4 years.
I don’t believe it’s fair to compare the NCAA to professional sports regarding revenue distribution. These athletes are still students and they’re receiving an education in addition to their now income. Schools can never keep up with professional sports unless they start increasing tuition imo
