All that tech and then the final say comes down to 4 zip ties. Makes me think I'm over engineering my set up with the sheer amount of zip-ties I use on my blackburn cages ( I only have above axle-eyelets on my sus tourer) that currently reside on my bike. I am intrigued to try these forks out as I enjoy the specific nature of their intended market - sus bikes. The dream is to have a fully sus downhill save cross-country happy touring bike. I wonder what materials the racks are made of???
Properly made Zip ties have a good deal of strength, along with easier installations and the ability to de-mount a rack. What i find interesting is the Pucks look 3D printed. I have done several very strong 3D prints using nylon/ carbon fiber filaments. In my opinion a company making racks and using 3D printed parts is a big plus for those hobbyist cyclist that own 3d printers. One can simply 3D print your own custom design pucks. Currently, we are using Topeak MTX QuickTrack racks. Unfortunately they have a low weight limit. So yes, I think ill give the old man rack a try. I can always 3D print a QuickTrack receiver and install it on the old man.. Enthusiast 3D printing, Cross country, Mountain biker in Thailand.
The zip ties we use are extremely strong with a metal tang and they are UV resistant so be sure to use those and not any standard zip tie. The racks are made of 6061 aluminum.
