Black is a classic hotrod color. Looks good!
My Dad had a '57 when I was a kid.
Years later, a buddy bought one. Very worn with a horrid metallic brown paint, and interior done in shiny orange vinyl with gold flecks - looked right out of a 1950s diner!
I rewired the car. Pretty simple in those days.
Five Sevens are as classic as it gets.
Good job on this custom resto! Love that motor! 😉

Beautiful Custom!! When i was a kid .My neighbor had a Aqua blue 57 2 door post car with a 327 V8 and Keystone Classic rims. He used to drive it to school in the late 70s. One day he took me for a ride in it knowing i loved the car. For a kid getting to ride in a hot rod for the first time it was amazing. And to this day i remember that, and it sparked my long love and hobby collecting, fixing up real muscle cars for over 30 years now. Got 2 cool ones in my Garage still.😉

I find these videos relaxing and kinda therapeutic. Enjoy the restorations as well.
However, though the car looks great, I thought it could have used some white or silver racing stripes. Do you ever incorporate stripes or anything similar?

Rob, everyone has their own ideas about what these cars should look like. All good ideas I'm sure, but I come here to see YOUR ideas. I subbed here because I like your vision and style. The 50s Chevys were one of the most modified cars around. Every modification you can imagine, someone did. Some had chrome, some didn't. Some were gaudy colors and some were more subdued. I like your version. Very classy hot rod.

You obviously never had a 57 Chevy, as you painted the back up lights (reverse lamps) red, they were clear, and left the tail lights body colour black. That being said it's a great custom, very nicely done.

Dammit Rob! You straight up murdered that '57, thankfully!! Gloss black is certainly better than whateverthehell was on that casting, by far. ERTL was once a great model maker and I have many, many of them in....from 1/18 scale all the way to the little 1/64 scale that you have resurrected in this video. If I ever get around to organizing my storage unit, you may find a 1/18 scale Boss Mustang coming across the pond to you.

I don't know if anyone else already mentioned this or not but, you can use brake fluid to remove the paint from the windscreen. For some reason it's tough on the paint but will not harm the plastic. Also, if you read the bottle it should say something about not getting it on painted surfaces of your vehicle for this very reason. Just either use a cotton swab or your fingers and rub the brake fluid on the plastic and the paint will come right of. May need to do a little extra rubbing depending on the amount of paint on the part. Then simply clean it up with some sort of de-greaser, like Dawn dish washing liquid, and your good as gold.

Nice Gasser, whoops, showing my age. Exactly the type of thing I would have done, with some silver on the grill and bumpers. At least it's not painted brown as I did with my Hot Wheels '57 Chevy Nomad. A silk purse out of a sows ear has been created.
