    I really enjoyed this video. You have a good way of explaining things

    That pile is similar to the 9.9 Chrysler in my basement.

    I put new rings in a ‘82 15 hp. I put a 3/8 drive adapter with a socket that fits the flywheel nut in my Dewalt cordless drill on slow speed. I think that’s the way I’m going to do cold starts from now on.

    I have 9.9 and 15hp, both long shaft. Want to rebuild 15 hp for boat i want to build over next winter. Hopefully can go step by step watching your videos!! 😊.
    What state are you in. I'm in WA

    Like I say.... IF it ain’t Pissin your not a fishin ! I like the 9.9 / 15hp’s and those parts are getting harder and harder to get ! Lol even up here ! We need lower units along with carbs and ignition parts also . We also need good starter spring cups , they wear out and cost over $125 new !

    Nice autopsy! The most preventable outboard cause of death.

    I need the other parts from the starter, just the plastic parts. And I could use the choke and all the little pieces that connect the choke to the top of the carb (the plastic pieces and the flat metal plate).
    Let me know if you want to sell them. Thanks, and nice video, I really enjoy them.

    Question: Is there any issue using a drill and a socket on the flywheel nut to test compression?

    • @BrandonsGarage
      @BrandonsGarage  3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      For me, yes. And that is simply the cost of a drill powerful enough to do it.
      Otherwise, no. Go for it. Its quick, spins fast, and gives good results- just don't use an impact.

    Brandon,
    I'm about to remove my lower unit. It doesn't have threads on the bearing housing seal carrier. Do you have a video on how to remove it?

    Your vids are better than RMD click bait. Don't know why YT isn't notifying me.

    I've got a 92 evinrude 4hp. Does anyone know what that twist knob thing is on end of the tiller handle? I thought it was a throttle lock or something but no matter how much throttle you do or don't have on the motor that knob doesn't seem to do anything.

    I have a 4.5hp 2cylinder Johnson, what size carb do you think I could install for a save power upgrade?

    Great teardown video Brandon. I'm not sure what the big surprise was but still a good video.

      I think he was poking fun at another “big surprise” video finding 15hp carbs in old 9.9’s, which isn’t that uncommon. CLICK BAIT! You fell for it, Doug. Ha

      @@notsalmonpack Not really. I try to always leave a comment for Brandon's videos and that seemed like a good 'wise assed' approach.

    Wow that motor is well worth saving. You could more than double your money by rebuilding it. imo.

      An old 9.9 sells for $400-600 around here; not quite enough for a full rebuild.

    Hey buddy do you still have that Black Max Mercury. If so price on the hydraulic lift. That rise and lowers the motor?
    Thanks.

      I tried to use it to make a make-shift CNC trim unit; didn't work out so well.

    Do you have a video on adding a Kill stop switch and safety Tether to a 85, 15 hp, Evinrude?

    • @BrandonsGarage
      @BrandonsGarage  3 ปีที่แล้ว

      No, but... I could...
      Ill see if I have one of the safety switches.

      Well I don't really sell things; if you think about it, if I piss off one guy I could ruin my decent reputation.

    They are not called hoods. The correct name is a cowling,
