Hooray another Wild Video! I have to admit I will at times put my headphones on and re-listen to one’s I’ve already seen while doing dishes or getting ready for the day - you are such good positive company!
Heheee this was so lovely to read! Thank you very much for this, what a lovely thought I can provide some good positive company, thank you for sharing this - you have made me smile! have a fantastic day ☺️☀️🦄
Thank you so much! I can say, you will absolutely love it! I’ve had the lens for a few months now and it’s been incredible! I bought it myself after this review and have pretty much been using it 99% of the time! I love it! 🙃✌🏻
A great review Victoria. I like the added information for each picture, it really helps with my picture taking. Your reviews are on a different level to the standard reviews I watch so thank you and keep up the great work. 👍
Hello and thank you very much! I will keep adding the information to pictures where I can and I am glad to hear it helps you! That is super lovely of you to say, I really do appreciate it, thank you so much! 🙃🤘🏻☀️
During the opening roll, you are holding the lens over the foliage with the front and rear elements exposed. For a moment, the lens seems to ‘blink’ as you pass it over the grass. This makes it seem almost alive. Well, that’s a great metaphor because the art you are able to capture, and how you capture it, truly is transformed into a living, breathing thing. Remarkable. After agonizing over which lens to replace my trusty but aging 23 1.4 R, the new 18 or 23, I finally ordered this 23 largely in part because of the amazing images you have shared. This focal length also sings to me and I can’t imagine it not being the lens I enjoy the world through.
Thank you for this! I didn't notice until I played it back and watched for the moment you mentioned - well noticed! This is such a lovely comment, I do apologise for the late response, I was away abroad so your comment got lost, but now found and with a big smile. I am so glad to read you like the trio of lenses, but mainly went for the 23mm, it is my favourite of the 3 and I hardly take it off my camera body! It's nice to know someone else finds this focal length magical! Keep enjoying it 🙃🤘🏻🦄
Hehe aw thank you very much for this! I really do love photography and I love all my lenses! Hehe sorry you want to buy it! I did purchase this lens for myself after my review because I loved it that much 🙃✌🏻

I just bought this lens just because of this vid, really... was thinking about but not sure, but when watch your vid I went directly to push the BUY button ajajjaajajaj... I don't remember if you mentioned it, but the most relevant optical advantage for me compared to other 23mm is its minimum focusing distance. Great video, thanks for sharing!!

Hello and welcome! Thank you so much for your lovely comment and for watching my video. This is so lovely to read, lots of awesome similarities! That is so cool you run an acrobatics company, that is amazing! converted van and doggo, you cool cucumber! I hope you are enjoying the 23mm as well and astrophotography. Thank you again for this comment, it was very lovely to read! Have a great day 🙃🤘🏻
There is a good reason the X100 series stuck with the 23mm focal length for their fixed lens. If it wasn't for me owning a X100T and using it as my main carry-around I would definitely be into getting this lens for my other Fuji bodies. The images are absolutely spectacular and the quality of the optics shines through in your images. Another fantastic review Victoria. Hope you have a lovely weekend.
That's it! And a very good point! It is such a lovely focal length, it's good you have it though with your X100T 🙃 Thank you so much for that, I really enjoyed shooting with this lens, it definitely sparked my creativity for sure! I was amazed by the image quality as well! Thank you again and I hope you are having a lovely weekend ☺️✌🏻🦄☀️
Spookily well-timed! I was mulling the 33mm and then pondered whether maybe the 23mm might be better. Think I’ve decided on the 33mm but this was really helpful as I weighed things up. Thanks! ✌🏻
That was well timed! I am glad to have helped a little in your decision! I think they are both fantastic lenses and if I could buy both I would - unfortunately I cannot afford both! It's is definitely a personal preference for me it would be the 23mm just because of what lenses I already own but would also love to buy the 33mm. Thanks again 🙃🤘🏻
Hello! I thank you for your work and wonderful videos. soon I want to buy my first camera and lens. I decided on the camera, but not the lens. I'm choosing now from two - 23mm f/1.4 (prime) and 16-55mm (which is a zoom lens). I watched your videos about these two lenses and I know the strengths of each, but I still want to ask your advice - which of these two should I choose if I want to photograph nature, landscapes and myself against their background? Thank you!
so if I may ask, what's the latest firmware for this lens, just got the lens but can't find any info on Fuji website if my 1.0 is indeed the most recent one

Thank you for your comment! It’s always tricky deciding between brands and lenses! I haven’t used the canon eos rp 35mm but I cannot recommend the fujifilm 23mm enough, i went around the Alps with it and used it everyday, it is a brilliant lens 🙃🙃
Absolutely mad as a box of frogs hahahaha. So, I have loads of different Fuji lenses and have been running two XT3’s along with the 56 1.2 APD and the 23 f2.0. I was getting some really bad hit rate results with the 56 so hired a 50 and OMG…. It’s breathtaking. It just has a quality that you can’t describe. I literally LOVE it. I have just upgraded one of the XT3’s to an XH2s and the 50 tends to live on that. I now want the equivalent lens quality but in the 23mm (natural 35mm field of view in 35mm frame money) and I just know this lens is going to make me sing. I have a Hindu wedding on the 27th August and feel it would be sacrilege not to get this lens in time for that. I just know I will wonder how I’ve coped without it. Thanks for the review and I am absolutely certain that ‘no frogs were harmed or encased in any box whatsoever’ during the making of this video.
Hahah yes I am haha! It is great to ready about your equipment, that is a shame about the 56mm but glad to hear the 50 work out well for you! I have heard Fuji might be bringing out a new 56mm soon 🙃 Ooo how is your XH2s? Yes the quality of both the 33 f/1.4 and the 23mm f/1.4 is really really good, if I could have both I would. I ended up buying the 23mm and I am not disappointed, the quality is incredible and the creativity of that lens is fantastic! I think it would be great to capture the Hindu wedding on - what a vibrant wedding that will be! Haha yes do not fear, no frogs were hurt haha 😆

Great review Victoria, honestly think you bring a fresh approach to the generic style of male dominated arena, so much effort goes into doing what you do, Hats off to ya, I just recently bought the 18Mm f1.4 and already have the 33mm so I am kind of ok with what I’m getting from both of these. @@wildandfreevictoriaThanks and I can tell from the quality of your 23mm video, amazing. I have the 33mm and it always feels tight as if I need a wider view. Gonna trade it for the 23mm soon.
Oft, a tricky question haha! Well I think it would be the 23mm, simply because, I have a 35mm and a 56mm already, but the 23mm offered something very different from my whole set up and sparked my creativity - that's why I loved using it. It's all personal preference I guess. But if I could have both, I would haha! 😆 Hope that helps 🙃🤘🏻🦄
Hi Richard. I would tell you that, having all new f1.4 set, 33 f1.4 would be my choice. And if I needed a wider focal length I would go to the 18mm with no doubt. For 23mm I will stick with cheaper alternatives (f2.0).

Hello! Sorry for the delayed reply, I have been a bit behind with responding. I did test a few of my lenses and most of them do make a little noise when they are tilted down, I haven’t had an issue with this lens though but it definitely does it with my 8-16mm and 16-55mm. I think it is just the AF. I hope this helps?
Great review as always. Thank you! It seems you loved both the 33mm and the 23mm. Different focal lengths of course, but having tried both . are they very similar in quality and rendering, or would you prefer one over the other?
Hello and thank you very much for watching! I did love both lenses, the quality was spot on for both I couldn't fault either! For me personally if I had to pick one it would be the 23mm and this is because, 1) I already own the 35mm f/1.4; 2) I use my 56mm a lot for portraits (and this is what I would use the 33mm for); 3) I really enjoyed the focal length/angle of view of the 23mm and felt it added something different to my photography; 4) If I could afford both, I would get both but I cannot, so for me it would be the 23mm based on these points. I don't think you would be disappointed with either lens, I think they are both really great, so I guess it's just down to personal preference and what set-up you already have. I hope this helps 🙃✌🏻☀️
I really didn't want to buy this lens. There are quite a few options at half the price. But when I tested it at a camera shop, I literally took one shot and was sold. I'd always shot the 50mm FL (nifty fifty) but the 35 (23 on apsc) is so much more useful
hehe I love this! I am sooo glad you love it! it is my favourite lens, I use is ALL the time, all my recent vlogging, landscape, self portrait, it is a fantastic and magical lens! and like you say, more useful as you get a wider angle of view. enjoy it, it is a fantastic lens and you made the right choice! 🙃✌🏻
It looks like you use lens as a “shaker” at the start of the video. The focus group is mounted as a lose group hanging on a linear motor (magnets) and there are some bearings over there so shaking ain’t gone improve lifetime.Anyway you did not sad anything about IQ,sharpness is only one of the aspects of the lens but does not say anything about IQ. Is wine with high content of alcohol the best one to drink? Luckly there are some nice samples.Cons for me after few months of usage is : size, weight and price.
Haha I would have no idea, I have never drunk alcohol. But do not fear, I do not shake my lenses and no lens was harmed in the making of this video. I think you'll find I mention IG quite a lot, maybe listen again. And regarding the cons, they are fair points, no an issues for me as I found the size and weight fine. It's something I think about before purchasing a lens rather than it annoying me a few months down the line. Happy shooting!
Please do a review of the 90mm f2. I agree with some of the other commenters. The world of camera gear reviews is annoyingly dominated by men, especially when it comes to portrait photography where invariably it is men taking pictures of women. When the subject of those pictures is a woman, surely we should get the woman's view!
Thank you so so much for this really lovely comment! It was so nice to read about liking the perspective of pictures from a woman's view, so thank you I really appreciated that! It is really nice to know that I am adding something different to the world of photography so I will keep doing it 🙃 and if I can get hold of the 90mm f2 I most certainly will do a review, thank you again! 🙃🦄☀️🤘🏻

You can't beat a lens with a plumpy aperture 🤣👍
It's true 😆✌🏻
