  • May 4, 2003 - The Detroit Pistons completed their comeback from a 3-1 series deficit with a decisive game 7 victory over Tracy McGrady and the Orlando Magic. Chauncey Billups led the Pistons with 37 points, but Ben Wallace's contributions were perhaps the most well-rounded and impacting, turning in a 4x5 of 7 points, 12 rebounds, 5 assists, and 5 blocks (Wallace also had 2 steals, while announcer George Blaha mistakenly credited him with 5)..
    The Pistons would advance to face the Philadelphia 76ers in their 2nd round series.

      So did Rodman, they all were the best rebounder in their era, the difference between them is Rodman was good at passing and B. Wallace was good at block

    First off, how good is it to hear Bill Laimbeer and George Blaha on commentary in a Detroit Pistons PLAYOFF game? Secondly, BIG BEN WALLACE was all work, hustle, effort, and GRIT! That's what's missing in today's NBA. He was the heart & soul of our team.

    As a die hard magic fan and tmac fan, this series will forever haunt me. I remember watching this and the whole city was so ready for the next round when they were up 3-1. Then each game after that, hurt that much more. Respect to the Pistons, I knew then they were a special team!

    Pistons were down *3-1* in this series.
    McGrady (and the press) was
    kinda talking about the _next round_ during the game 4 postgame.
    Ironically, he woulda been right;
    But the league decided to change round1 to a *best of seven* beginning *that year.*
    Pistons took FULL advantage of it!

    I still remember this series I watched every second of every game...T Mac was destroying the Pistons in the first 4 games of the series...it was devastating, but after being down 3-1 to an 8 seed Magic team Ben Wallace made a statement, and publicly called out the entire Detroit Pistons team in the Newspaper, and the rest is HISTORY!

      I looked it up;
      you were right.
      I was wrong.
      Pistons were the #1 seed.
      But to be fair....
      I guess i only remembered their record was kinda 'average'
      1 Detroit Pistons *50-32*
      In my mind... no way that was the #1 seed.
      2 New Jersey Nets 49-33
      3 Indiana Pacers 48-34
      4 Philadelphia 76ers 48-34
      5 New Orleans Hornets 47-35
      Good thing they came out the *East* ❤❤

      TheRealJuiceTv No he didn't dumbass. He didn't eliminate THIS team, he eliminated a team MINUS the defensive anchor of this team, Ben Wallace, with a really good perimeter defender in Tayshaun Prince on the decline tasked with guarding him the whole series. The '07 Pistons were NOT the same team as the one that took the basketball world by storm and won the '04 NBA championship with a second trip to tha Finals in '05. Bron played the depleted version of this team, if he had run into a PRIME '04 Starting lineup of Chauncey, RIP, Tayshaun, Sheed an Ben, the Pistons would've beayen Cleveland in 5 or 6.

    • @HakeemTheDream616
      @HakeemTheDream616 3 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      No one could beat the 04 Piston's team....this wasn't even the 03-04 Championsh team this was the 02-03 Pistons that lost to the net's in the Conference finals....then preceded to draft Darko Milicic over Melo with the 2nd pick in the draft that summer...😪 (besides once Larry Brown left for the Knicks job the Pistons just weren't the same as they were in 04. Flip Saunders became the coach, and the Pistons team defense fell off the map)
