This game is a shining example of how a good story and immersive atmosphere can compensate for poor mechanics/old graphics and etc. I REALLY enjoyed it, the second one is also really good, but they kind of lost me a bit with the third one. But still, the whole series is amazing.
@@rickfrombohemia9550I wish they kept the original voices and put subtitles like movies and anime. That way the original was preserved but we could understand it. I get why they dubbed it but I usually tend to prefer the original with subtitles. I feel like then we would’ve gotten a taste of what it was originally like.
This is late but thank you for all the playthroughs that you do. While I like commentary I also like being able to enjoy the gameplay without someone talking over it. I appreciate you.
There is something about the style and story off this game I just adore. The ending is a bit silly, because it gets all magical and fantasy-like. But the general gothic horror atmosphere is great.
Omg yes! Exactly the same scenes traumatised me and made me want to look up which game it was. I watched my older sister play this and I was way too young for that shit lmao Glad I found the game tho

Always loved these point n klick mysteries. Played a few of them growing up, like Agatha Christie but nothing that terrified me that much lol
@@lenakingsleigh omg yes i love klick and pointers too. In fact right after my brother and i finished black mirror “Gray Matters“ came out. @@moonjg4418 Don't really know what Gray Matters is rn... I have to look it up. I've played a lot of point and click games, and like Black Mirror I sadly don't really remember most of their names... Just the newer ones. Recently I've really been into At Dead of Night & Contradiction (Spot the Liar). Would love to try and make my own film-esque point n click game sometime. Edna Escapes is what I played as well! I don't know about the translation. Played it in German, since I conveniently am German haha. It was really good, I agree but especially Ednas voice was getting kinda annoying after a while ngl lol
Dude fun fact: Me too played the second episode first time, and i don't understand some thing, what are they talking about. 😃 But it was great, just like the Star Wars, when everybody saw the episode 4-5-6 first, and later the 1-2-3. 😃
Same, initially! And I've got to say, II is a good instalment of the series to begin with. We had bought the first game in some bargain pack on Steam years ago, poked at it disinterestedly, and then wound up hooked by II and III (similar sale). Revisiting this first game was so worth it. While unrelated (it's one of those 're-imaginings'), the 2017 game is absolutely worth playing--some sophisticated also writing and direction going on in it.
@@Roteiro92 I don’t know which is which but I saw the parts with Anakin and Padmé first, then the parts with their children :) I’ve always wondered why did the graphics go from great to old lol. I’ve also been robbed of the “I am your father.” shock but at least I was able to have Anaking as a favourite character right from the beginning 😄
Loved your walkthrough! Thank you! Even though I have to admit that at 06:47:34 you really left my inner monk a little bit frustrated! XD Still amazing!
If I compare, let’s say, Detroit: Become Human and Black Mirror I., it’s incredible how much our games improved. Though there’s something comforting and nostalgic about these older games :)
I can probably write an essay on why your first statement isn't true. They are certainly improving when it comes to graphics/ mechanics/ audio and pretty much everything BUT soul and essence. To me the modern games feel distant and devoid of life. They are an exhibition of what modern technology can produce, but that's about it. I much prefer old fashioned games to the newer ones, who fall into the uncanny valley side of things. But you kind of hinted on that with your last statement.
@@HandleHandleson it'll be like the past games, the newer games will be heavily criticized and then 10 to 15 years from now, they will be praised and everyone will talk about how nostalgic they feel when watching gameplay videos for our current games that we are complaining about now. I really enjoy the first 3 black mirror games , it’s very annoying they changed the format from 2D in the newest edition However the sliding puzzle at 6:19:06 I really hate - horribly difficult these sliding puzzles , I cheat it by preloading a saved game downloaded from the internet
great atmosphere and story but wow the interface is unintuitive. Right click does nothing most of the time, thought it wasnt used in the environment at all at first... but every now and then you need it to "look closer" to progress. Would have been far more intuitive if right click gave a description of hotspots and left click was your main action button.. like every other adventure game lol Was stuck for ages near the start cos i needed to right click the fireplace and bushes. The manual i found doesnt really know either. Just says left and right click on things like there is no real context to each button
2003 adventure without much of a view to the future. But it was a period that focused more on the graphics than design, which is fine in my book. I mean, look at the environment! But anyway in 2003, you had to wait for your characters to go through their allowed motions.
When I go to the dead fireplace it keeps saying "just ashes". The same for the door. He keeps saying he cant see the key because it is too high. What is wrong with the game?🤔
People criticizing the dialogue need to realize that this is a czech game released in 2003. Times were different and localizing and translating games not to mention managing foreign voice acting would have been very difficult for such a small studio of a dozen developers. Despite this, the game is still a classic and has many timeless qualities that you rarely find in games today.
The dialogues in the first game are supposed to be kind of old fashioned, high-class/royal style of communication. If you prefer a more modern style - the second/third one is for you. The protagonist is basically a rebellious ~20ish yo guy, who likes Pearl Jam and is cynical of everything. But somehow I don't think you would like it either, cuz you lack the mindset for such type of games.
@@Kirbydreaming Well I don't know if they time-travelled forwards to 2009, lol. Immersive atmosphere and good story but dull dialogues and robotic voice acting. Samuel Gordon is terrible. Things improved with 2 and 3 though.

This would've been a great movie if they had put it together back in the day with a young Johnny Depp (The sleepy hollow look).
the german version has the german voice actor of Johnny Depp as Samuel Gordon
Reminds of Bram Stokers Dracula where Keanu Reeves part was originally intended for Johnny Depp

Voice acting and dialogues is really a weak point. I can’t stand the voice acting for Samuel. “Robotic” would be an understatement.

"See Dick run".
