My father , James Kingston worked all his life for the admiralty store depots, in the UK and around the bases in many places such as simonstown and Hong Kong. When we moved to Corsham in the seventies he first worked at spring quarry then finished his working career at Monks Park. For a man who lost his leg in early life he was a wonderful man who achieved much and was always humble.I loved my Dad very much. Christopher Kingston.
A bit of a shock watching that, me 25 years ago, yep I'm the short skinny one, I remember the trip well, but only because of watching this, thanks Matt enjoyed that, we also got a tour of Eastlays underground Quarry, can't remember if you did that one with us? Happy days 🙂
As someone that does ventilation and air-conditioning for a living, that whole section with the fans in is a huge plenum pulling air down from the surface and pushing into those underground tunnels, then coming out of those ducts scattered around....pretty huge system..have done similar setups with underground carparks.
They have a lift thing like that at the Underground storage next to Sally in the woods was called wansdyke security in 1999 when I worked there for about week through an agency that's where I found out about the Underground stuff and got told there was a train line that ran to London underground for the queen apparently
Awesome night vision filming! Great seeing flashback from 25yrs ago and the travelator in action. Nice to see this version in better film quality and good that a few others joined you this time - quite a crowd! Shame some idiot had to spoil your evening at the end ... top video Matt 👍👍
Was a brilliant explore, ill definitely be remembering this 1🤙🏼. Thanks for taking me along to this mate🙌🏽. . .FYI PEOPLE.. I HAVE A MASSIVE PHOBIA WITH HEIGHTS 🤣🤣🤣
Superb video Matt. Thanks for doing it again in 4K with your quality video camera 👍 what a place that is, crazy size indeed. Great drone footage too. Yet another banging video courtesy of TheSecretVault 💪 nice to see Glen back exploring with you again Matt
Do you think there was an alarm on the travelator, not the beams, but the power? It would be interesting if you could just lower the entry gate and roll on in. Probably alarmed, but ya know sometimes they do forget the obvious.
Armadillos the 360 security PID video system for vacant properties it was online wondered what you ment by armadillos in UK 😂 Rudloes definitely not vacant!
Wow , that's awesome Mathew , loved it , that old footage , super 8? was cool to see , stay safe , don't let the trolls get ya greetings from the yacht Taurangi , Wellington , New Zealand 😁
More back rooms, nice! Seriously, I'm surprised the air samplers are still on - no ordnance there anymore - they might be sampling for asbestos too?? Great place for skateboards and bicyclists - unfortunately with the remaining asbestos, it'll probably be abandoned. Cheers...
It would have been an immense sound when all of those fans started up back in the day. The two remaining ones look to be VFD driven, probably to run them at slow speeds. If you look at the right hand fan that isn't running, it looks like some blades are actually missing.
Matt did you ever get into the bunker opposite the old ammo dump at the end of the road and just round the corner near the new mod the one that's been knocked down and built on ? When I went there about 10 years ago my friend told me the big pit at the far right near the back that was full of water used to be an entrance into it
It's almost unreal to think that those 100yo looking electrical panels were probably active when you were in there 25+ years ago. Do we have an estimate date when the elevators, travalator and those fairly rusted out fans in the wall were last active ? Looking at how run down the travalator area looked even those 25+ years ago, im gonna guess the place shut down not long after your guided tour.
47:10 I think it's an alarm or bell, when you squeeze the wires together it creates a circuit and rings a bell, and can also act as an emergency cut off for electricity or machinery, they have them commonly in mines and tunnels. If you look out of the window on some tube lines especially the bakerloo you can see the same type wires running along the side. If the train breaks down and there's no comms, the driver can squeeze the wires and it sets an alarm off in the control centre and cuts power to the track. A telephone can also be attached to the wires so the driver can communicate with the controller
Grabbing open wires when you dont know what might be coming down them doesnt seem like a wise idea to me... They could put panic buttons at almost no cost. Also wires exposed to air corrode quickly so you would be pressing wires together and not getting a connection.
WOW. It went on and on. So much underground secret stuff/tunnels/world. That was like far more grand than the underground city in Turkey., that goes under peoples homes and been there for centuries. If there really becomes a food shortage. But places like this could be where thy might store cans of foods etc.
30 mins in, what pair of Ir beams were they avoiding? Ir emitters show on video cameras for either 750micrometer or the more expensive 850micrometer type.
I've had similar conversations in broad daylight,This is THEIR AREA,No trespassing in a PUBLIC AREA,For the first time in 15 years i sat on a bench along the road and the police DID NOT arrive,All the previous times the police arrived within 5 minutes,The red brick House opposite has had a face lift and covered in PVC so probably new residents and the previous tenant is gone,Probably why the police didn't turn up,

I didn’t understand why you guys were climbing that way over. Why didn’t you just climb over the gate.
@@fkl770 ok that answers a lot. There must still be power at this site.
Not just an explore but a full length feature film. Always a thumbs up.
That’s crazy the old footage of the travelator working!

I’m knackered just watching you go up the stairs lol
It’s nuts to think that people have dug all that out and somebody has had the job to paint all the walls!
WOW! My mind is BLOWN at how absolutely gigantic that place is. Incredible.
You guys are not to be mistaken for a special ops team. They could hear and see you from miles away.
When you found that airway under the road…that was the coolest shiz! Damn!

It was Jordan that turned off both of the big ventilation fans on the first visit, they managed to get 1 back up and running but not the other

Yep I am not keen on it... however they have been like this for ever so I guess its accomodated for.

Awesome, what a treat 👍
Cool check the old silver sierra lol
Now with the better camera you can actually see where the pipes for all these heaters are burried in the ground and where they run across.
Alarms connected to detonators cos they can't hear the actual alarm, like the detonators rail workers put on the tracks for extra safety?
Lov the vlog from Margaret
PERFICT MUSIC FOR THIS SPOT ON SIR
