  • £10 can get you a lot in Zagreb! Who said Croatia was expensive?
    A budget-friendly country with kind people and delicious food.
    I've always been sceptical about travelling in Europe but #Zagreb gave me a really local and authentic experience and I would definitely go back. 🇭🇷
    In my £10 challenge, I bought so many things, including amazing local food, but my favourite part of this journey was connecting with people.
    This is one of the best things about #travelling
    I work so hard to make these videos, so if you could please subscribe I would really appreciate it ❤️🙏
    I can’t wait to release more backpacking and budget friendly #travel videos. So many great ideas are on their way.
    See you soon travellers ✈️ 🌍 🌎 🌏

    Thanks for visiting Zagreb. Beautiful city! I’ll be returning this fall for my 14th trip to Croatia to visit the family. Have a great time in Croatia. I always have to remember fruit and veggies are sold by the kilo….we all have had that experience. Next time you can order “pola” kilo, or half a kilo. Have a great time meeting people of Croatia. In 1997 I backpacked Croatia for a month. I will never forget my experiences. Cheers from Canada!

    I'm glad you enjoyed Zagreb. Burek Dolac is one of the places in Zagreb that locals visit regularly - it's not fancy, but if you want a good burek that's a place to go! The song that you were listening to is one of my favourite songs about Zagreb (there's actually a lot of songs and poems about Zagreb). It's called Vracam se Zagrebe tebi, meaning I'm returning to you Zagreb. So I guess you should return too. 😊 It's Ivo Robic's song, who was a very popular Croatian singer at his time. He was called Mister Morgen because he had an international hit song Morgen 😄
    Here you can hear how the song you liked sounds in original:

      I loved Zagreb it was a great city, a hidden European gem, it was such a beautiful song, I've just listened to it and it's already taken me back 😊, I definitely want to come back and try the Apple burek next time, thank you for the link and the info, Burek felt very local and the food was so good can't wait to go back

      which Burek is the best?

    • @Ardnasper
      @Ardnasper ปีที่แล้ว +1

      I often sing that song to me when I go to Zagreb. 😄 I live in Belgium now. I definitely recommend that you come back. Hopefully by then some of the renovation will be done, because to me the city looks a bit sad now with all the effects of the earthquake. And when you come back you should also try strukli, they have them in most of the restaurants but also there's a place La Struk, dedicated to making strukli. When it comes to burek, it really depends what you like. My favourite is the cheese one, but lots of my friends would say it's the meat one. 😁 Also, if you like apples, next time go to the bakery and get some apple strudla. 🙂

    • @SpenceTravels
      @SpenceTravels  ปีที่แล้ว +1

      It's a lovely song, I didn't know that was because of the earthquake, hopefully next time it'll be finished, Zagreb was still so beautiful, I tried Strukli it was delicious!! :) - I'd love to try all the Burek's one day, I'll make sure to go for next time, thanks for all your input Sandra 🙂

      @Ardnasper ปีที่แล้ว +1

      @@SpenceTravels you're welcome! :) I love Zagreb very much and I'm always happy to see someone enjoying it too. If you tried strukli, then for your next visit put a bit money aside for a lunch or dinner in one of Zagreb restaurants that do local, traditional food, like Okrugljak or Vinodol. It will cost a bit more (still less than in the Western Europe) but you won't regret it. :)

    With !0 pounds in Zagreb you might as well sleep on the street and in the morning go shopping at the closest grocery store so you don't go hungry for the day. Burek is a Turkish cuisine made my Bosnians living in Zagreb, its not local at all. In Croatia Filipinos are known as wonderful people that love to gang up on their Croatian co-workers on ships and throw them overboard when they are reminded about how polite and clean they are. Authentic Croatian souvenirs a scarce since Croatia has become an deindustrialized country that produces very few manufactured items. That street performer is merely a beggar that's probably in agony because he doesn't have enough money to pay for his pain medication.
