- Here is your opportunity to witness a 20 minute solo (almost 20), performed by one of the world's greatest drummers. An absolute monster and technician on the drums. The Las Vegas Drum Show was very fortunate and grateful to have Thomas be part of the show. eloy is on par with Thomas i say.
Around the 17 minute mark where he speeds up his kicks while slowing down the snare rolls and then reverses slowing down the kick while speeding up the snare it just insane. He has ten brains. The entire performance is crazy good. Thomas is beyond bad ass. Phenom!
I was in the theater for this performance and I’m sure my jaw was agape when he did that.
@@robertkay9349 I can imagine. Mine was watching it on TH-cam. I’ve seen other performances of his where he has all four limbs going and plays different rhythms. He’s such a talent. I even enjoyed his Dream Theater audition. I think he would have been a more tasteful drummer than Mangini. Mike is technically amazing. But I’m more about hearing parts that work in the music. He tends to over play. Where Portnoy, I feel, was more musical. I think the same would be said for Lang.

Watching Thomas play is unlike anything else in drumming. He's on such a different level than anyone else.
Correct. No one can play what he does, but he can play anything anyone else can. He is alone in the drumming world.

This might be the most impressive drum solo I've seen in the last 10 years. Full utilization of the kit, comprehensive flows, call back to previous sections to transition between groves, non stop energy. Thomas Lang stays impressive, god damn it feels good to be a drummer.
I wonder how you can ever achieve such an alien level as Thomas has achieved. You'd think it would take a thousand years of practice to get to this level. I really think Thomas is a genius. Seriously. The Albert Einstein of drums. There was nobody before him who could play like this, and there will never be anybody who can play like this ever again, so we are witnessing a force of nature here. A one of a kind miracle. Truly amazing.

Unbelievable the world's renowned Thomas Lang is this generations master class The Best Drummer ever. The bouncing of wooden sticks across stretched plastic skins on hollowed wood and acrylic cylinders and the banging out notes on hammered brass round sheets and the many foot pedals for assorted world percussion instruments and his ambidextrous limbs flying around from watching from above mind blowing again unbelievable the soul he speaks through his limbs and his heart he has been and continues to be bless and for us, an audio visual experience! 😊
Just in a whole new Galaxy.

Thomas Lang and Yoni Madar are the guys of drumming these days! Soloing a lot of drummer do....but I often miss musicality in the approach to do a solo on the drums. But these two guys? Amazing!

Thomas Lang is the most well-rounded drummer of all modern drummers. His independence is amazing. He has speed, he is dynamic, his foot control is unmatched.
There are tons of great drummers which I love........ Dave Weckl, Gavin Harrison, Benny Greb, Todd Sucherman, Steve Smith, Mike Portnoy, Mike Mangini, Dennis Chambers, Ray Luzier, Chris Coleman, Virgil Donatia and Aquiles Priester to name jus a few!

Thomas Lang now is at world top level . I don't see any drummers exploring hand and feet combinations in this way. Thanks for the video.
Can't count how many times my brain was twisted and turned inside out. Lang is THE very best drummer of all time. There is not such a thing he cannot play.

I've been a fan of his for a long time. I've drifted over to watching some other players so I had somewhat forgotten what an absolute beast Thomas truly is. His 4 way independence is ungodly. Met him at a NAMM show in 06 and he was the nicest guy. What a legend.

I love Lang and this solo and don’t mean to hard define a drum solo, but he has a very soundcheck-ish approach to soloing that he plays off well in a legendary way. Love this work!

Bozzio was one of first guys, (at least in my time) to build solos up top over complex ostinatos established with his feet. We all know they are close friends and I wonder if that has influenced TL's approach in the past few years. He certainly has taken it to a whole new level. Amazing work.
There's a TH-cam video, I'm not sure if it's from DW drums, where Thomas, Terry, and another drummer who's name escapes me, are asking questions and talking with Terry about his drumming, and Thomas mentions this to Terry and asks him how he came about coming up with that. It's pretty interesting, and fun to watch..
