(22:35) hi so talking about the sunscreens and the difference between organic (chemical) and inorganic (mineral) filters. Inorganic sunscreens do not reflect the uv rays, that is a common misconception, they only scatter about 5% of the uv, the rest is absorbed just like the organic filters.Oh and that's why you should reapply every spf! they both can become less effective. Also, reapplying sunscreen after sweating is very important because the barrier that spf creates, which is an integral part of sunscreens protection, can be easily broken down by sweat. just clearing up some misinformation:))) And btw love you and your content Frederic!
Mineral and Chemical sunscreen actually both absorb UV rays and you need to reapply both of them the same way, you can watch Lab Muffin Beauty sunscreen videos on this topic!
hey fundementals of science! would you mind giving a makeup version? a bunch of people (including me) dont know where to start when buying makeup ane couldmend up buying bad makeup that is bad for your skin and can scare. and i kinda feel like you would have a bunch of tips on where to get stuff as the magority of make up gurus would have more complicated stuff. also you are great and makeup. ok i made this way to long, bye!
The common misconception regarding two types of sunscreens (physical/chemical or inorganic/organic) is that they believe that physical sunscreens stay on top of the skin and reflect those UVs whilst chemical sunscreens absorb UVs. In fact studies show that they both work pretty much the same by absorbing UVs, however physical sunscreens also reflect around 5% UVs but most of the chemical sunscreens don't (except 1 or 2 new filters nowadays). One more thing, the reason why you need to reapply both types of sunscreen typically every 2-3 hours is not because one is more photostable or sticking to the skin better than the other, but your face produces oil which can work as a natural waterproof-makeup remover over time and either type of your sunscreens will eventually wear off by your own sweat and oil. Hope that makes sense :)
For the vitamin C serum, the Some By Mi Yuja Niacin Serum and the Goodal Green tangerine serum (both are Vit C derivatives, so best for sensitive skin) are under $20 if I remember correctly.. Yuja Niacin is my holy grail for dehydrated and sensitive skin 😍
Theres a video by a YoutTuber called Nile Red titled 'Making sunsceen from scratch' so if you were ever wondering what the SPFs mean and why you have to reapply sunsceen (and a little snarky lab humour), I'd recommend watching that video. I'd rexplain it but I'm not good enough with chemistry to ensure I don't get it wrong...
If you want a cheaper Vitamin C serum that works very well. I use the golden booster vitamin c brightening serum by Beekman 1802! Like you said in the video, what works for me might not work for you. Just a suggestion! It cost $23. Love youuuu ❤️

I’ve been wondering for sometime, cause I never heard any body explain this and I myself don’t usually use a lot of makeup I use less even now cause half my face is always cover by a mask, so if you put your sunscreen and the do a face full of makeup and you’re supposed to replay sunscreen every two hours and you go outside what do you do? Like I don’t think you can’t put it on top of makeup without ruining it and I don’t believe people that do a huge makeup are gonna take it out every two hours and redo it, so I wonder is there some type of sunscreen you can put on top of makeup or how those it work? I need answers xd
