I cant imagine anyone not being Team Black. While I think Id have liked them best anyway I do wish theyd been more vague about the Viserys and Aegon thing. We as an audience know Viserys was delirious and dying and was talking about a prophecy. Not his son. So we know for a fact that Team Green are in the wrong no matter what else happens. Not to mention killing the kid. I just wish they had found a way for Green to be slightly more sympathetic. Because the whole marketing campaign is based on the fact that you have to "choose a side". But the show has been heavily in favor of the Blacks. So people supporting the Greens will be few and far between.
I love how much bigger the budget feels this season. The costumes and wigs have been updated, the special effects look enhanced, the lighting, cinematography and set design have been improved as well. I just hope that improvement in quality translates to the script as well. I don't want to repeat the dissapointment of season 7/8.
Honestly i think the script in season one was as close to perfection as anything in my opinion, so all i need from them is to maintain that quality haha.

Targaryens had not a lot of Mad in their history actually. And the whole “it’s bc of inbreeding” also makes no sense, considering incest was the way in Valyria and they thrived for a long time. We can count in a hand the truly mad Targaryens. Others were cruel or violent, but mad we have The Mad King and perhaps Aerion Brightflame. And they were born after Targaryens started marrying other houses. And even their madness was not inheritance only. It was circunstancial as well, grew with traumatic events. The Mad Targaryen narrative is one used a lot to demonize them for not following the customs.
It just drives me nuts how much people took Cersei's BS to heart and have treated her words like they were fact. Out of THREE HUNDRED YEARS of Targaryen rule, there were only three truly insane Targaryen kings, and out of those three, only two were the psychotic murdering kind of insane. Baelor the Blessed was more of a danger to himself than anyone else, seeing as he starved himself to death with constant fasting. The rest who were bad, like Aegon the Unworthy and this little shit Aegon II in the book/show were just jerks, not insane.
Not really true. Madness manifests in different ways. Maegor was cruel beyond reasonable human standards. Baelor was religious to the extent of madness. And that's not counting the Targaryens who didn't become kings. Targaryens also had plenty of twisted stillborns.

Wives made to bear kids too young, the lack of hygiene of the period, the own traumatic events lots of the Targaryen women went through, and that’s without even bringing up the maester’s conspiracy theory. Yes, there were mad Targaryens, but they were a lot more the exception than the rule.
To maybe clear up some confusion: Alicent heard Viserys talking about *Aegon* on his deathbed, she just assumed it was their son, not the Conqueror. It's not important in the grand scheme of things because the Greens would've usurped the Throne either way, but it seems like they're making it *extremely* important to Alicent as a character, which is an approach I find quite interesting and like.
Also she was the only one to know about Viserys' prophetic dream about setting a son on the Iron Throne, so when she hears him talking about a prophetic dream she thinks he means that one, because Rhaenyra is the only one to know about Aegon the Conqueror's prophetic dream. It's like a very high-stakes game of telephone.
Nah, she heard what she wanted and she would have done the same without it. She asked for Lyonel Strong to be sent away so Otto could be Hand again and was complicit to Larys. She planned the petition. She had been preparing everything since Aegon was a kid. He never said Prince Aegon was my heir, he said Aegon had a dream about the dark and the Prince that was promised and the song of ice and fire, that was sufficient information to know it wasn’t her Aegon who is a useless drunk.

It seems that the events of episode 8 and her brief reuinion with Rhaenyra softened Alicent a bit towards her and the events of episode 9 suggest that she's trying to minimize the damage the conflict will cause and keep Rhaenyra relatively safe. In all of the promotional material she seems deeply conflicted, she obviously doesn't feel good about how this whole thing sent down.

It wasn't the right time to change the tradition. Him being passed up would have been one of those times to change it to where women could sit the throne. Not the current situation where he has two sons. You don't have to be smart to see that this could cause problems, especially when your two sons ride dragons. 3. It was clear that Rhaenyra's children were bastards. Visery's still choose to ignore it. 4. Naming one of his sons heir clearly would have stopped a potential civil war. He risked so much, when it could have been easily avoided. The decision comes across as extremely selfish and unwise.
"Everybody hates Targaryens." Ehhh it is kind of 50-50 at this point. While everyone loved Jaehaerys rule, Maegor the cruel wasn't too long ago.. 1 generation removed, actually. It was Aegon the first, Aenys, Maegor, Jaehaerys, and now Viserys when the series picks up. Aenys fucked up and the Faith militant went to to war with him. Maegor wiped a bunch of them out (the Hightowers hated Maegor, which is why Otto really hates Daemon cuz he is ultratraditionalist in terms of Valyrian cultures... and the Hightowers are really deeply religious and stepped in the seven, so Daemon reminded Otto of Maegor. He says as much). Jaehaerys took over after his uncle, Maegor, died on his throne. He came in young and confident, pulled some really cool stuff. So, he did a lot to restore the Targaryens to that peak level. Lots of Dragons hatched, and he had a bunch of kids who died and left their dragons on Dragonstone and some riderless older dragons - the wild dragons. So, Westeros is really new at this succession thing. Visenya really just stole the throne for her son - Maegor. The throne should have passed to Aenys kids, but they said fuck it. Only because Maegor had no legitimate kids and was incredibly cruel, so the succession was restored.
Clear lines should be drawn within the first couple of episodes. I expect everything to kick off somewhere around episode 3. All I know is none of us are ready for what's about to happen. Lol. Edit: Also, this reminds me of the marketing that the Walking Dead used in season 2. Shane vs Rick, and who should be the leader of the group. That's how it was advertised and this gives me the same sort of feeling.
i hope with watching this show there can be balanced conversations about both sides cause it’s clear the show writers are very much going out of their way to humanize both sides of the conflict to make it hit harder and i honestly respect that.

And with this conflict being a civil war between family the conflict is gonna hit so much harder if we’re invested in both sides. I know that we’re always told to let them know what we think at the end of every video, and while I genuinely want to contribute engaging with a channel I enjoy…sometimes their reactions don’t leave me feeling comfortable offering any sort of reply. As someone who understands the overall point of _The Dance of the Dragons_ but still likes the Greens 💚anyway due to how fascinating they are, it’s frustrating and a bit off-putting to see any opportunity to have an in-depth conversation about them either dismissed or trivialized. Maybe this will change once more seasons air but if not, then I’ll just have to look elsewhere.

I think you're actually in the minority with wanting a different theme song. Most people like they kept the same. "Everyone hates Targaryens." Urm, no they don't. I don't know if she meant in real life which isn't true as all the spin-offs are related to the Targaryens. The only one related to another house (Starks) got cancelled. Targaryens pay the bills. If she meant in Westeros then still not true. Especially in this period. Game of Thrones is post Targaryen rule and most of characters are of houses who overthrew them so they're all obviously biased. Even then the books show there are many houses that remain loyal/and or loved the Targaryens. In this time period, the Targaryens are not hated at all - especially with the peaceful and prosperous reigns of Jaehaerys I and Viserys I just having happened. Westeros under the Targaryens was when Westeros was at its peak and most prosperous (new roads built, abolishment of all remnants of slavery, ending barbaric practices like 'the first night' where lords could sleep with women getting married in their lands before their husbands, introduction a unified code of laws, etc). The show overused the Targaryen madness so much when there were less than 5 mad Targaryens and most of these (if not all) through circumstances. Other houses had violent rulers (including the Starks) but they don't get call mad because they didn't practice incest as much as the Targaryens. It's like another commenter said, the few mad Targaryens actually emerged after they began marrying other houses.

We got to see The Crow trailer, The Acolyte trailer, Furiosa trailer, and the new Alien trailer recently. Now we got HOT D and Beetlejuice 2x. We got the new Ghostbusters this week which I’m seeing later today next to Dune 2 and Kung Fu Panda 4. We’ll get Godzilla x Kong next week. That’s a lot of content to see. I finally got the original Xbox games to play on my Steam Deck while I’m also playing Final Fantasy VII Remake and saw the part the other day when Cloud had to dress up as a girl. team green for a few reasons but i want to point out that the war is founded on the argument of what’s more important: the ruler’s word or male preference primogeniture. aegon is the true heir based on their world’s tradition, religion, and customs. even in the targaryen line although sometimes a girl was an heir, she was never crowned as the ruler. the eldest daughter was overlooked for another male contender. at the great council of the past, viserys was crowned because of this but it really wasn’t even a battle between him and rhaenys. it was truly a choice between the claims of him and laenor, rhaenys’s son. so viserys not changing the succession goes against what the lords of the kingdom and king jaeherys decided at the time (the precedent). and now lords must be thinking about the claims of aegon and his future line of children vs jacaerys (rhaenyra’s eldest son). a legitimate prince vs a bastard. if rhaenyra’s the ruler, following her death, another succession crisis and war would likely happen between jacaerys and her other sons from daemon (because most ppl think daemon’s sons are legitimate not knowing that laenor is alive, so even those sons are bastards.) so for stability and the good of the realm, they might swing aegon’s way.
These poor show-only souls live under an illusion where coward Rhaenyra and her fat dragon who never fight a single time in the entire war will be Queen and will crush "Joffrey" Targaryen with ease lmao. Can't wait to see these clowns reacting to the reality check.

To maybe clear up some confusion: Alicent heard Viserys talking about *Aegon* on his deathbed, she just assumed it was their son, not the Conqueror. It's not important in the grand scheme of things because the Greens would've usurped the Throne either way, but it seems like they're making it *extremely* important to Alicent as a character, which is an approach I find quite interesting and like.

It seems that the events of episode 8 and her brief reuinion with Rhaenyra softened Alicent a bit towards her and the events of episode 9 suggest that she's trying to minimize the damage the conflict will cause and keep Rhaenyra relatively safe. In all of the promotional material she seems deeply conflicted, she obviously doesn't feel good about how this whole thing sent down.

As someone who used to be team Black, it irritates me when people continuously make the argument of "the realm can't accept a woman on the throne" like, seriously.. that's not the only factor that cause people to reject her. 1. It was hypocritical. He himself was only king because a women wasn't seen as fit to sit the throne. His claim to throne was so far weaker then his sons. But he still chooses to name his daughter as his heir given these circumstances.
2. He had two legitimate sons. It wasn't the right time to change the tradition. Him being passed up would have been one of those times to change it to where women could sit the throne. Not the current situation where he has two sons. You don't have to be smart to see that this could cause problems, especially when your two sons ride dragons.
3. It was clear that Rhaenyra's children were bastards. Visery's still choose to ignore it.
4. Naming one of his sons heir clearly would have stopped a potential civil war. He risked so much, when it could have been easily avoided. The decision comes across as extremely selfish and unwise.

Ehhh it is kind of 50-50 at this point. While everyone loved Jaehaerys rule, Maegor the cruel wasn't too long ago.. 1 generation removed, actually.
It was Aegon the first, Aenys, Maegor, Jaehaerys, and now Viserys when the series picks up.
Aenys fucked up and the Faith militant went to to war with him. Maegor wiped a bunch of them out (the Hightowers hated Maegor, which is why Otto really hates Daemon cuz he is ultratraditionalist in terms of Valyrian cultures... and the Hightowers are really deeply religious and stepped in the seven, so Daemon reminded Otto of Maegor. He says as much).
Jaehaerys took over after his uncle, Maegor, died on his throne. He came in young and confident, pulled some really cool stuff. So, he did a lot to restore the Targaryens to that peak level. Lots of Dragons hatched, and he had a bunch of kids who died and left their dragons on Dragonstone and some riderless older dragons - the wild dragons.
So, Westeros is really new at this succession thing. Visenya really just stole the throne for her son - Maegor. The throne should have passed to Aenys kids, but they said fuck it. Only because Maegor had no legitimate kids and was incredibly cruel, so the succession was restored.
It’s really the religious folks coming from Oldtown that they have to worry about…… as we shall see.

Clear lines should be drawn within the first couple of episodes. I expect everything to kick off somewhere around episode 3. All I know is none of us are ready for what's about to happen. Lol.
Edit: Also, this reminds me of the marketing that the Walking Dead used in season 2. Shane vs Rick, and who should be the leader of the group. That's how it was advertised and this gives me the same sort of feeling.

And with this conflict being a civil war between family the conflict is gonna hit so much harder if we’re invested in both sides. We’re gonna love and hate people on both sides and that’s the whole point.
^I agree that’s part of the reason why I think they’re going to make Team Black more morally grey as right now many people see Rhaenyra and her team as heroes, or as being the right side. I feel like they’re going to take measures to balance it out more.

I know that we’re always told to let them know what we think at the end of every video, and while I genuinely want to contribute engaging with a channel I enjoy…sometimes their reactions don’t leave me feeling comfortable offering any sort of reply.
As someone who understands the overall point of _The Dance of the Dragons_ but still likes the Greens 💚anyway due to how fascinating they are, it’s frustrating and a bit off-putting to see any opportunity to have an in-depth conversation about them either dismissed or trivialized. Maybe this will change once more seasons air but if not, then I’ll just have to look elsewhere.

If she meant in Westeros then still not true. Especially in this period. Game of Thrones is post Targaryen rule and most of characters are of houses who overthrew them so they're all obviously biased. Even then the books show there are many houses that remain loyal/and or loved the Targaryens.
In this time period, the Targaryens are not hated at all - especially with the peaceful and prosperous reigns of Jaehaerys I and Viserys I just having happened.
Westeros under the Targaryens was when Westeros was at its peak and most prosperous (new roads built, abolishment of all remnants of slavery, ending barbaric practices like 'the first night' where lords could sleep with women getting married in their lands before their husbands, introduction a unified code of laws, etc).
The show overused the Targaryen madness so much when there were less than 5 mad Targaryens and most of these (if not all) through circumstances. Other houses had violent rulers (including the Starks) but they don't get call mad because they didn't practice incest as much as the Targaryens.
It's like another commenter said, the few mad Targaryens actually emerged after they began marrying other houses.

My previous TH-cam name and photo before Batman was of Daemon Targaryen, so it’s obvious which side I’m on. I bought a Team Daemon hat from Redbubble although I find it a tad too small. I prefer my House Targaryen sigil hat from New Era much more but I am wearing my Team Daemon hat today.
Regarding the HOT D trailers, where is Roddy the Ruin? He’s a minor character on Team Black but he goes out like a badass!! I think Cregan Stark will be a fan favorite once more people get to see him. And we can see the Cargyll twins fighting. Will Daemon ever get his long straight hair back or is Ewan Mitchell permanently going to use that wig for Aemond?
We got a lot on our plates coming up. We got to see The Crow trailer, The Acolyte trailer, Furiosa trailer, and the new Alien trailer recently. Now we got HOT D and Beetlejuice 2x. We got the new Ghostbusters this week which I’m seeing later today next to Dune 2 and Kung Fu Panda 4. We’ll get Godzilla x Kong next week. That’s a lot of content to see.
I finally got the original Xbox games to play on my Steam Deck while I’m also playing Final Fantasy VII Remake and saw the part the other day when Cloud had to dress up as a girl. Man, they really went over-the-top on that. I can’t find time to see all of these new trailers right now. So many video games to play mixed with watching new movies and TV shows.
Speaking of Final Fantasy VII Remake, the OG FF7 fans sorta sees FF7R as it’s own thing operating in a different universe. I believe that’s how GRRM book fans treats these HBO shows. It’s not necessarily canon in their minds but they’ll still watch it because they’re curious how well it translates for live action.
Fire & Blood only covers a few chapters of the Dance. So writers have to add stuff the same way Tetsuya Nomura and Co. had to pad the first disc of the original FF7 and turn into 30-50 hours of gameplay. HBO writers are adding things like Rhaenys mass murdering innocent people and Daemon choking Rhaenyra when those never happened in GRRM’s book.

team green for a few reasons but i want to point out that the war is founded on the argument of what’s more important: the ruler’s word or male preference primogeniture. aegon is the true heir based on their world’s tradition, religion, and customs. even in the targaryen line although sometimes a girl was an heir, she was never crowned as the ruler. the eldest daughter was overlooked for another male contender. at the great council of the past, viserys was crowned because of this but it really wasn’t even a battle between him and rhaenys. it was truly a choice between the claims of him and laenor, rhaenys’s son. so viserys not changing the succession goes against what the lords of the kingdom and king jaeherys decided at the time (the precedent). and now lords must be thinking about the claims of aegon and his future line of children vs jacaerys (rhaenyra’s eldest son). a legitimate prince vs a bastard. if rhaenyra’s the ruler, following her death, another succession crisis and war would likely happen between jacaerys and her other sons from daemon (because most ppl think daemon’s sons are legitimate not knowing that laenor is alive, so even those sons are bastards.) so for stability and the good of the realm, they might swing aegon’s way.

Team Green here, king Aegon is terrible in pretty much every way but i can't side with the combination of Rhaenyra and Daemon. Aegon at least didn't want the throne originally, but the other 2 consistently made so many terrible decisions that led to the current state.
