    Excellent video and instructions James!! I can also see other application for this technique . Sure glad I have been saving all my small pieces of pipe. Love the smell of burning wood. Wayne

    Great idea! What a simple little way to make a garden tool. Definately going to have to make one of these. Thanks James! Congrats on the new subscribers and surpassing the 300 mark. You surely deserve it.

      Thanks for the shoutout Jim! Went from 277 to 322 subs in one day. Thanks for that. Now even more folks can enjoy the channel. The little eye hoes are like the ones we had growing up. Easy to fit new handles in them. I don't prefer the ones with a tack weld holding the blade. Broke a lot of those kind.

      You deserved those new subs James Duncan. I'm thinking, we might need to do the same for Hans. 🤔

      @@drason69 First Hans needs to just put out video's and not worry so much about the live streams. Just doing what he does best. FORGE that exactly what makes James so good to watch. The true passion for forging.

      @@jjppres agreed. But let it be known, I will "bump" Hans. He's got a great heart for the craft and I feel compelled to help him out. Thanks Big Jim 👍👍⚒️

    Nice build! If I get around to making one, what I'm going to do is after it's done and completely cool is fit the handle and drill the hole in the tool to mount the handle with a screw.

    I had the same idea on the “videos to do” list, you beat me to it! Awesome build, looking forward to what you come up with next!

      Thanks Jared. It hit me all at once so I went and made the thing with what I had on hand. It's not that bad to do from pipe. You ought to make a video on one man. That'd be cool!

    Neat project! If my memory serves me correctly grandpa Herb made one of these! I also had a small one to use between smaller plants when I was working in their garden!

    Nice tool Mr 🍩. I was thinking, as I was watching... Make the eye, like that of a tomahawk or pick axe. That way, it's a friction fit?. Very cool, the gardening crowd, will eat these up. What's a fair price, you think?

    • @thesprinkleddonutforge2774
      @thesprinkleddonutforge2774  5 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Thanks Jt! As far as a price goes it falls under time and materials. If I wanted to provide a nail and handle with the tool, I'd charge for that. Let's say tool head 15 dollars. Handle 10 dollars if I use one I must cut down and shave from the bush. Making a nail and fitting the tool to the handle 5 dollars. So I'd get 30 bucks for it ready for work. If I had to buy a handle then that cost would figure into the price but I'd not have to labor making one so it could be a little either way depending on the handle price. The friction fit is ok, but the real reason for the nail is to avoid the head sliding up the shaft when pushing soil or tamping. I had an old eye hoe with no nail and it gave me fits until I spiked the head on.

    Did you just simply bend that? Or did you intentionally upset any material? Sweet build

    • @thesprinkleddonutforge2774
      @thesprinkleddonutforge2774  5 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      I bent it and allowed the ripple in the metal at the collar for strength. But I kept it hot. Pipe is mild and will form well. As long as its hot enough and never burnt, it is perfectly pliable. Use one with at least schedule 40 walls or the steel will be too thin to make a strong tool.

      @@thesprinkleddonutforge2774 I have the "black pipe" for gas lines. Is that likely sch40?

    • @thesprinkleddonutforge2774
      @thesprinkleddonutforge2774  5 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Black steel pipe is ideal. It's seamed pretty heavy nowadays but it'll still work if you keep it hot and file the eye. Go for it
