He was held back and he was not an equal after reuniting for the tour. That’s the reason , along with his drug abuse, he wanted to go solo. He really is talented, it’s a shame because this album is almost better than any kiss after the split
New York Groove, 2000 Man, Do Ya, Fox on the Run. Is it just me or does Ace actually IMPROVE all of the cover songs he does?!? Ace is freaking awesome!
It took me a while to get completely into the whole Kiss catalog and especially the solo stuff, but it's worth it. Dimebag Darrell was right that Ace is really good and underrated.
“Do ya do ya want the Ace!!!” Love it!! How did I JUST discover this amazing cover by the Spaceman after all these years. No one else EVER rocked a triple humbucker Les Paul EVERY single time he played. One of the best!!
Ace IS THE MAN that launched a million picks... I have a 92 les paul custom because of Ace, It really is a god guitar. NO ONE has ever made people WANT to play like Ace, Eddie came close so did Randy and Mr. Vai. but Ace ALWAYS plays for the people ... not the Berkley , Julliard people.
@Greg Hubbard Ok yeah u ARE RIGHT U ARE THE SMARTEST GUY IN TOWN...u know me better than me...and u like ,and OBV.can, to talk about others like this..WOW MAN U MUST BE HELLUVA PROUD...!!!!!! i'm not here to measure my knowledge to music..specially with guys like u DUDER!!!!!!!
Happy 71st Birthday Paul Daniel Frehley April 27, 1951, New York City.. Ace is still a member of Kiss in our hearts.. Ace is Ace, he's so chill but a monster on a guitar.. Many, many more Paul Daniel..
Behind the “make up” and “flash pods,” Ace was a very good guitarist. A musician friend of mine graduated with him in high school. She said he was a very nice guy.
they are other kind of guitarrist, nobody can play like Ace, just like nobody can play like Dimebag or Friedman or Becker, because they are uniques in their style, no hate, love music bro
A testament to what a fantastic song Do Ya really is. All three versions, original by The Move, symphonic rock version by Electric Light Orchestra, and 80's big hair version by Ace are all fantastic. Rock On :)
Ace Frehley Always Rocks either With Kiss, or without Kiss Period. Ace Frehley is The 1, & Only Space Man / Space Ace 4Ever. The Only Way to Listen To Ace Frehley Is Loud, & Proud at Anytime In Life. Ace Frehley I Salute You ! ! !
Ace Frehley, You Always Rock No Matter what you Sing, & your Music Video's You Rock Out To. I Salute You Ace Frehley, The 4Ever Space Man. The ( Do Ya ) Song, is a Awesome, & solid Rocking Kick Butt, Song, & the Whole Trouble Walkin' CD totally Rock's to.
The touring Drummers changed between 87 & 89 But for the most part it Was Ace,Tod & John. Richie had played guitar for Ace before Tod & when Tod left was asked to rejoin. 89 up saw many changes for sure.
Written(1971)/produced by Jeff Lynne as a member of The Move. It was released in 1972 and only hit #93 on the top 100. In '77 Jeff rerecorded it as a member of ELO and it did much better hitting #24 on the charts. Todd Rundgren also covered it before this version. I do think Ace did a super job though. Nice blending between the first two recordings. 👍
My 1st concert was seeing Bob Seeger who opened for Kiss at the Capital Center in Largo Md. back in the early 70's. I was 15, or 16. I got talked into going by my then best friend who dressed as Ace Frehley along with other friends for Spirit Week at school. Kiss was his band. I was, and still am into Blue Oyster Cult. What a strange event, and memory! There were grandmothers with groups of elementary school children carrying Kiss action figures. All this with your typical concert crowd of pot smokers and beer guzzlers in a very permissive environment. It was like a Romper Room, Midnight Special Bizarro World. Wolfman Jack meets Miss Sally! I wonder if any little kids got accidently handed a joint? Seriously though, this is a great cover for this ELO song, and Ace also has some very good songs besides. I'm giving credit where credit is due. Thumbs up!
I always loved the ELO version of this, did not expect this cover to be any good, but was very pleasantly surprised. This is on my iTunes wish list til I get some money!
I remember this song received a lot of airplay on rock radio when it came out. It led to classic rock stations adding the original version by ELO to their playlists. It seems that another version before ELO, the actual original version was done by The Move, a group which predated ELO and had Jeff Lynne and Roy Wood as members.
Ace is not back, because he has never been gone
ACE=GOD
Someone knows what there talking about
Because Gene and Paul wanted all the attention and their egos stroked.
Lol

@Coogan his solo career resurrected him
New York Groove, 2000 Man, Do Ya, Fox on the Run. Is it just me or does Ace actually IMPROVE all of the cover songs he does?!? Ace is freaking awesome!
I hate it when bands cover a song worse than the origional
Every cover song he does is freaking awesome
It's not just you
Also hide your heart
Ace did a great job with Steve Miller's Joker
Covering ELO is not easy, given all the studio work that Jeff does, but this is awesome, great job Ace.
From Keith Richards , Pete Townsend and the rest copied
Ace is no slouch in the studio as far as mixing, mastering and producing. He had a top of the line recording studio in his house.
And roy wood
yeah he did a great job hope noone got mad
Ace has even said that trying to sing this song when he was recording it was almost impossible, because there are so many words.
He did a great job with this one.
He sure did
Yep! One of the best covers ever. Ace and his "thumbs up" was just so.... Ace.
As usual. I wanted to be him when I was a kid
Fuckin rights he did
Ace has an uncanny ability to record covers that are better than the original versions lol

I totally love Ace version of this song! And man he was so cute in the 80s!
Behind the “make up” and “flash pods,” Ace was a very good guitarist.
A musician friend of mine graduated with him in high school. She said he was a very nice guy.
Ace and GNR are really great at covering/remaking songs
After watching this video..anyone get the feeling Ace was held back while in Kiss?
No he was propped up lol. They tried to get him to sing from day 1 and they tried to get him to write more than he did.
Ya think?
The best of KISS - Ace Frehley.
Oh yeah. He was very much creativity stifled. Good on him for leaving KISS when he did

What has happened to good talent like this and nothing on TV to represent the good old rockers of the day anymore!
Amen.

Awesome stripped back version that he made his own without taking anything away from the original.
I can’t believe Ace outlived John Regan. R.I.P!
No way! That is wild man
Ace definitely took this most excellent track to a whole new rip-your-face-off level. Absolutely timeless.
Ace......in the moment! Best I've ever seen of Ace "Do Ya"
Do ya, Do ya want The Ace.....well,, yes, I certainly DO!!!! All the love from Kansas-I'm a 50 year young woman and I am still in love with the Ace!
Nobody can ever play like Ace, the Best!
one word Dimebag
@ You would have to stand on your boyfriend's shoulders to kiss Ace's ass.
Dimebag once said that if they're hadn't been ACE FREHLEY they're wouldn't have been a Dimebag. ACE FREHLEY was God to Dimebag
