Insulation to the ceiling will make such a difference to the workshop, especially with zero degree weather and water freezing. How wonderful to get that help with the planting of the fruit trees. To have an orchard will be wonderful once its established A great selection of fruits. To have the space to plant the orchard and also chestnut trees is fantastic. The little cats have grown and the chickens are just in the boxes all well behaved.
Already tried it workshop heats up so quick now. Save some firewood too. It was a very nice surprise with the orchard so happy about it. Sadly I have to keep those chickens in the boxes till they fully grow. I have lost way too many coz of hawks. They seam not to bother full grown birds.
this is a wonderful video! the orchard looks wonderful, but arent the trees much too close together?? most fruit trees need something like 3-5 meters each so 6-10m between trees, unless you got the small dwarf trees
If that is styrene type insulation next to the chimney flue, you should cover it with cement board (not drywall, but real cement board, about 13mm or 16mm thick). That insulation can ignite due to the high heat next to it, so be carefull. Rigid mineral fibre insulation is non-combustible, so use that on the ceiling or any other walls you may want to insulate. Glass fibre is OK too. Lots of chickens there; three roosters!!! Do they fight or have they already established their pecking order? The bird feeding on the seeds, we called that "sjenica"; they're very common during Winter. Mom had chickens when we lived in Croatia; they were her babies. She cried every time she had to kill one. Some got ran over by cars on the nearby road. Stupid drivers would not slow down or stop, but would instead speed up to run them over. Never forgot that! Little bit of a lesson on the construction; rafters are the sloping wood members, the horizontal ones are called roof or ceiling joists. Beams are large wood memebers into which joists or rafters connect or rest on. Anyway, that's what we call them in English; have no idea what they're called in Croatian, hehe! Chesnuts? I would kill for some chesnuts! They come here (Montreal) from Italy, and they're as expensive as gold!!!
This is styrofoam for cladding. It needs a lot of heat to start melting. It is not same as normal styrofoam. There is 4 rooster at the moment and about 30 chicken. There few younger ones too but will remove them once they mature. I have no problems with people driving over birds. They even stop not to kill them. Had gees on the road too. No problem at all. Good neighbors here. Thing is I am carpenter in australia and I know what is what. Thing is my brain sometimes stops working specially coz I record two videos in two languages at the same time. It gets sometimes hard to find the right word. 👋👋

This is plantation planting. We will keep them to a specific size. This way you get more fruit and easier to pick. Also lot less space required.
