The colorway was the big upgrade. Adidas is on its best industrial design with stark contrasting basic colors like black and white and emphasizing clean lines and their /// iconic logo. .
I will forever owe you a debt for introducing me into the supernova line. Wonderful shoe that’s boring in such a lovely way. It’s a shame the Prima never released for you, just got it the other day and took it out for my morning run and really enjoy the ride excluding me slipping and falling on ice lol.
@@SagasuRunning The Prima is a very nice ride, it's a very slightly more rockered ride than the Rise and honestly it feels like a training version of the Superblast. I enjoy it so much I am disappointed in myself considering I'm team ground feel, might be getting too soft as the years go on.
I didn't even know that Adidas revamped their Supernova line in 2024 until I watched your Top 2024 Shoes video, I always remember them as the budget line back then. Now that I picked up the Solution 2, it has grown to be my favorite long/easy distance run shoe, so much comfort and support. Not to mention the durability, no signs of wear on the outsole yet it's built like a tank.
I’d really love you to review the Supernova Prima. For me it’s such an exceptional daily trainer. Not the fastest, but the slightly lower drop (8mm) than the Rise gives the Prima this wonderful flow through your stride. Plus it has the lighttraxion outsole which so far for me appears to be bombproof. Dare I say it - it is even better than Continental. The Prima was the sleeper shoe of 2024.
The Prima never released here in Taiwan. If I ever see a pair in Japan I may pick a pair up. However, what makes the Rise so great is the low stack, ground feel and flexibility...things I'm not sure will translate the same in the Prima... maybe I'll see.
Yeah, people having vastly different experiences of shoes is so confusing. I've worked many years in a running shoe store, and let me tell you it's so random how people experience "softness". I litterally had a customer try on the Rise in two different colours without telling them it's the same shoe, and they said it felt completely different... I ran a lot in the Rise v1, and the first release sample (green/black) I got weighed 20 grams less than the later colour releases. Very good shoe, best fit for me. But I did get some issues with forefoot discomfort from the rods (I think). Testing the Rise 2 next week, let's see how it stands up in 2025!
Softness and cushioning, in my opinion, is like temperature. What is cold or warm is 100% dependent on what you're used to, or even what you just experienced 2 min ago.
I had the same model of a shoe end up where the fit was off, in older Brooks Cascadia 11 where in one color I could not wear 7.5, the navy and yellow but had to get the 8 where the gray model I was wearing I could wear a 7. The problem is on the repeat buy of the exact model getting on sale the fit was off as the rock plate was digging into my foot on one of the two models so I am getting rid of these later models models I made a sharpie mark on and this after my hit with car in 2017 when I tried running again in 2021--2022 pain in hip from car hit on side I was hit then again in 2023--2024 and was having light injuries and was going to start running when I got the new shoes I ordered (see later on in story) until the fall on the stairs in early September. Also the model was made a pillow in the 14 or 15 then made odd to where runners could not use the model in reviews due to the way the softer foam worked on trail as well as road so I switched after an injury fall down Stairs in 2024 that just healed in January To some cheap Chinese Baaspola model that looks like a more minimal overlay Brooks Cascadia 10--13 model I have yet to run in that midsole is soft but should work becuse the material is a dense soft without a rock plate hoping not having rock plate was my injury problem when I start running soon. I just got over a 🚽issue in mid-January I had since December 21, 2024, where I could not run becuse constant movement would cause me to have some issues as well as every other hour I had to use the 🚽.
Yes I agree totally, comfy, repsonsive yet very cushioned and durable. The Xtep Supernova rise 2 continues to be an excelent shoe 🤭. Seriously: the designe and the colorway are soooo pretty. Adidas really delivered there.
@@SagasuRunning I can agree to that term! :D Calling these type of shoes Shincell xyz instead of the brand. I discovered more and more... got the BMAI Carbon 3 yesterday... I pulled the trigger and ordered the SNR1. You talked me into it…so, when my wife asks why I bought another pair of shoes - I will give her your contact info! Thanks again. Another great comparison.
Haven't tried v1, but boy is the 2nd version fun to run in. I don't have the latest Novablast here, just the 3rd version, but I'd take the Rise over that if I had to choose. Soft, bouncy, plush, fun, flashy.
Different shoes, which is why I'm not doing a "vs" between the SNR2 & NB5. Both have there place. I agree on taking the SNR over the NB3, though I'd take just about any shoe over the NB3...
This shoe in these colors Gives me vibes of older 2000's models of road race shoes/track spikes as most of the premium models used the all white look with a black or dark silver for the stripes for the colors, even if Adidas had other colors for these models like a black and silver stripes or black and gold stripes for some of the Olympians that were already champions at previous Olympics on the track spikes but the road race models or track flat/short distance road models used more colors to match the other shoes they had for training.
@SagasuRunning The old Supernova line was the some of the top of the line models in the 2000's and early 2010's before the super shoes and super spikes were the top of the line.
@@SagasuRunning Supernova line actually stated in the 1980's having seen some retro models of them that the line died out by the late 1980's then was brought back in the 2000's when I was in early high school about 2003--2004. @ I saw that before typing my comment. There seems to be a bit of a contradiction. That video would suggest the SL2 has a more resilient profile. However, this video labels the ride as “cushioned” with equal deformation and energy return…. More than what we saw for the SL2 on the Evo SL vs the SL2 comparison which you described as “neutral” while deformation was greater than energy return?
Different rides. The SNR has a cushioned feel due to the tuning of the foam (Dreamstrike+) as on foot strike it sinks and absorbs but supports and the “push” our, while subtle, I think is coming for from the EVA support rods not letter the Dreamstrike+ foam go total flat. That’s the “cushion” feel I get. It’s not a resilient feel like LSP, more of a supported push out. In the SL2 you have the very dynamic core of LSP, which has all the LSP properties, but it’s dulled by the encasing of the LS2.0, that offers nothing at all (just muting and dulling). So the LSP core is fighting to do what it does but since most of the shoe is LS2.0 you really get nothing but sink with a little hint there is something resilient in the core…
I did not buy the first version, but I did get at launch the Supernova Rise 2. So far with only two runs I'm liking the shoes. Great stability for a neutral shoes, the grip is better than I though it would be ( much better than the Adizero SL 1) with this Adware rubber. The only problem I had was the sizing that I had to get 9.5 US . While 99% of the brands I use 8.5US and some shoes here and there I go with size 9. Not sure why Adidas shoes are so small now. If I went 8.5 it would fit like ultra snug like a size 7.5 or 8 from other brands .
Just adding some more information about the shoes. This DreamStrike foam seems awesome with great bouce, resiliency and all that with a small stack height. Now I wonder how good would be this foam in a shoes with a bit more stack ,like a Supernova Prima 2 ... Great job on making this foam, Adidas !
Really, I find this shoe very long. TTS is spot on for me, if anything a half size down would do (especially if it wasn't a trainer). Adidas shoes are classically very long and narrow, often called a "Euro Fit", though this has changed in the past few years.
@SagasuRunning I use 8.5 US worth my Puma'S Velocity Nitro 3 and Magmax. But with this Supernova Rise 2 even the size 9 was a bit too snug at the sides and one pinky from the end of my big toe ( the distance I prefer). In the end the 9.5 was snug enough at the sides and almost a Thumbs 👍 from the end. Just out of curiosity, I have tried the Ultraboost 5X in a store and the 8.5 US was perfectly. Any larger size my feet would dance inside the shoes. For now on I will go to the Adidas store before buying their shoes ... looking forward to try the Adizero Boston 13 next.
@SagasuRunning agreed. Ground feel and more nimble. I almost got the Asics Gel-Nimbus 27 but wanted to try something different ... Already got a Magmax and SuperBlast 2 for high stack shoes.

What are your thoughts of having the SL2 and the Rise together in a rotation? I have never run in the Rise but I keep on buying the SL2 again and again because it just suits me perfectly. Primarily training long distance here.
Alot of overlap between the two, especially the SNR2. If you like the SL2 that much and use it as a tempo trainer, the SNR2 will be a good easy day trainer...

While I still enjoy the softer ride, is it a sign that I get a new pair now lest I start hobbling around with runner's knee or something.
@omairhafiz884 900kms? Seriously? That is WAY too much on a modern shoe with a performance foam in it (which Dreamstrike+ is)…. Performance foams are not EVAs of old. Expect 400-500kms, if that on most modern shoes with performance foams.

@SagasuRunning they are kinda cheap but have a 3 mm drop looks cool gotta be honest but how good are they in the long term
I don’t cover the brand. But they source their foams form the same place Adidas currently is. 🤷🏼♂️
Supernova Rise 1 @ $50. no-brainer
👍🏻
