    I actually have one of these. It was my first watch I had not counting a few children watches. It's from 1977 and if I remember right I got it from my parents when I turned 13. I just found it again a few months ago. Put a battery in it and it runs nicely. The bracelet was long gone but I maned to find an original Casio from the same time era on a flea market the other day. I've been wearing it for a few days and I feel like a kid again. ;)

    I started my love of watches with digital in the 80s my grandfather taught me how to fix them. My prize watch played The Yellow Rose of Texas. I miss those cool digital watches that did all those things that at the time were simply amazing. I remember a guy from church showed me his new watch it had a thermometer on it, man I thought that was the coolest watch ever. It was a Casio I believe.

    Another great video. I find using a "sticky ball" to remove the case back removes the risk of scratching it with the slip of a metal tool.

    • @MyRetroWatches
      @MyRetroWatches  6 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      I have thought about those balls, however on many of the vintage watches I tinker with they are usually welded on so I loosen them with a Jaxa tool first. Still might get the ball, you can never have enough tools!

    Hi ! Nice video, I have a similar CASIO watch ( 35qr-23 ), my father gave me as a gift when I was 10 years old. I have it always in good shape and conditions and changed the battery a couple of times as needed. Later, after a couple of years while I was not using it , it runs out off battery so I try to replace it but at the watch store they told me that it is not running and probably de display is not working anymore. Is that possible or a tipical situation on this watchs ? Thanks and apreciatte your concerns about it.

    Hey Michael, very nicely done! How do you get this brushed finish of the steel case?

    • @MyRetroWatches
      @MyRetroWatches  6 ปีที่แล้ว

      Michael Reitberger on this one I did not reapply the brushed finish I just lightly polished with polishing compound and a felt wheel on my machine.
      To reproduce the brushed / ground finish is quite easy on a flat part of a case. On rounded parts is allot more challenging. I think in one of my videos I show it. For flat surfaces you need some P400 or finer abrasive paper often known as wet & dry paper. You then need a very flat surface for the paper I personally use a Price of steel I have. Lay the paper around the flat surface and place the case part you want to refinish flat to the paper and then slowly but steadily move the case in one direction. I find towards me better. Repeat the process of moving the case along the paper checking how it looks as you progress. Once satisfied it’s done.
      I may soon do a video demonstrating this as your not the first to ask!
