Do this with a semi-truck. Make it look like it's flying through space. Use a purple resin. Then you've got yourself a pretty sweet Deep Purple "Space Trucking" diorama. 😄
you know what would be kind of cool if you could use that type of explosions from those rods as explosions from something else just make like a bunch of small little rods and then place them all around so when they do explode it will look Epic
I'd leave a funny comment but... this seriously turned out even better than the first "accident". If you were to do another one like this I'd suggest trying to put a small piece of metal inside the rod that melted - that's just about the spot where the warp reactor core would be ejected, and it would look like the ship was in the midst of a reactor core breach. This really is a beautiful piece of work, well done mate.
Out of all the builders I watch on TH-cam, you and Nick Zammeti are definitely my favorites. My first theory was that the heat from the resin was heating up the metal of the Enterprise and affecting the curing process. The effect works, though... kind of like entering a wormhole or something. Great work, keep it up Ben!
If you are ever worried that you may have trapped air in an object that is to go in resin, coat the object in resin and let it dry prior to immersing it in resin. Nice work, loved the color.
YES! The 1st enterprise in a bottle video is the 1st video I saw of yours and got me to sub! Was such and awesome video imo and I’m glad you did a 2nd video! Keep up the great vids!
Looks amazing. Now that you have worked out that it's the previously cured resin giving away in heat, it would be great to see loads of resin orbs or rods of different colours arranged on Burl, then make another casting. The results could be awesome 👍👍👍
You should try this again with no ship and a few rods to see if you can create a lot of these "explosions" in a project. If you use a reflective piece of burl to create more colors.
Not a bad idea but fibers come off the bud, when using UV resin to paint, the brush is saved as it doesn’t cure until uv light hits it so you can wipe it off and use it again
The original star trek ship is the first video i saw on your channel, And It been great seeing all of your work since! Keep it up! Thank you for the Videos!
Amazing! I'm definitely watching on ebay. I'm working on set up a spot for my star trek collectibles right now. It's almost mind-blowing that I sat down to take a break and this video was in my notifications lol.
I don't know if you have ever seen Space Balls, but in there, they hit ludicrous speed and went plaid, this Enterprise almost went plaid. :) It looks great!
I wonder if you can put a GoPro in a pressure pot. I'd love to get a time lapse of a 'failure' like that rod, would be pretty interesting! Love how it turned out Ben, nice work!
Just thinking... if it would be possible to put some paints inside the ship, before casting it, maybe that blast/ripple effect could gain some color. Something ike a ribbon in "Generations"....
I have watched a couple of your videos now, and they have given me some really neat ideas, as I live in Arizona, people, and visitors love things with scorpions and tarantulas in them. Going to try the bottle with creatures in them. People around here are always buying paperweights with all manner of things in them. Thanks.
I'm really glad I found your site, I think the 'mistake' is awesome 👌 I'm glad you keep the errors in your videos... like the resin release. You're a regular guy... thanks
I know it’s 3 months late but I started to work in resin and I put my prom flower in it and I had that flower for 6 years and it was dryed out so I risked it and it worked out but I had some problems with air bubbles but omg it came out amazing so I love when something goes wrong but make it look even cooler
I think it's beautiful. You are a real craftsman, I wish I could make stuff like that. But I'm all thumbs and I don't know how to work with tools. I really like your videos.
Ben you're killin' me! I thought it would come out perfect. That being said, it's unbelievably cool looking. It looks like it's from another galaxy or time. Wait a minute, it is! Thanks for sticking with Star Trek!! That would be interesting to make a mold that size again, and put a bunch of small random size resin pieces in it. Perhaps color some of them too, and see what the heat does to them. I see a Christmas ornament or something. Take care!! Ellis
Ive been thinking of doing a Titanic in a bottle. Not sure if I want full ships or wreck. Unfortunately, Ive never done resin so it wouldnt be in that. But I bet you could do awesome.
I think it might look cool if you make the support rod red or yellow so when it explodes it will be a burst of colour and perhaps look like an explosion on the ship.
I remember the Star Trek video because it is the first video I watched of yours and it made me subscribe, and you have only gotten better since then. Keep it up bro
it would be interesting to see a diorama in a small fish tank, but not the entire tank, just the like an inch on the floor, rear and left and right wall, perhaps a sci-fi theme would be interesting, the galaxy look in the bottle looks nice, I think would carry nicely in the tank
Phenomenal as always Ben! Waiting on my first purchase from your Etsy store, two dragon eggs, can’t wait to own some of your beautiful work! Stay safe and never stop making sir.
Ben: *build amazing and beautiful ship in a bottle with resin* Viewers: it looks too plain... Me: .......... It looks plain? Really? There's always someone in a crowd that has to criticize someone's hard work.
this lookes so sooo cool, if you do do the tie fighter it would be cool to have the burl at the bottom so the bottles on its end maybe? (just saying would love to see that one done to and see if it fractures diffrently)
Consider making a riser rod out of something truly melty, like paraffin or crayon. Try different shapes, bulging at the base and thin at the top or vice versa. Curved risers and zig zag risers. I think you hit upon something that could be an entirely new creative expression!
Not sure what took me so long to get here.. Pre warp civilization might of been it. But, finally made it and you certainly have a new sub my friend. 👍🏼
Wow that bad boy is awesome....I would think to any star trek fan out there would love to add that to their collection I know my brother would he is really into to it...I will say this friend you are very good at what you do lol
You now need to do a Star Wars one, they look Amazing, i do like the 2nd on better with the colour changing paint on the bottom it really does look like she in warp speed.
I would like to see you do something with bears. Maybe polor bears. I love bears and collect different things that has bear on and/or in them. I just thought polor bears would look pretty cool. Something I would buy as long as it wasn't expensive cause all I get is a once a month disability income (since I'm disabled and have to use a walker whenever I'm walking). Think about it and let me know what ya think.
In the name of Shatner you should do a this only this time use a heat stable rod for attachment but a thinner 1.5 inch long rod attached to the deflector dish. This will make it appear as a if the deflector is generating a field.
Do this with a semi-truck. Make it look like it's flying through space. Use a purple resin. Then you've got yourself a pretty sweet Deep Purple "Space Trucking" diorama. 😄

OOH imagine the Obi-Wan-Jango chase scene, with a suspended bit of rod used to recreate the concussion mine effect!
With different colored rods!
Lmao. “Guess who forgot to add mold release?” So perfect.
Who has two thumbs and a hammer?
I'd leave a funny comment but... this seriously turned out even better than the first "accident". You used the damaged ship with the fire coming out, it fits real well with the explosion type deal.
It's amazing how a miss-hap can make something cool

Best line “guess who forgot to leave mold release”
I collect vintage 80s toys. And this is an amazing idea for some of them!
That's an amazing discovery, mate! I wonder what other crazy designs can be made with resin inside resin. Great work!
Thanks Mate
I just saw this video and wanted to see how much it went for but was too late. It is an amazing art piece 👍🏼
WOW!!! Amazing job. I think those Star Trek ships will be a must-have. If I were you, I keep making them in different styles.
Thanks Mate
I thought to myself, 'nah, he won't recreate it!'....but blow me down trekkie fans, he did!....well done Ben...'you made it so!' 😆 💜💜💜
Thanks Dee 🖖
If you are ever worried that you may have trapped air in an object that is to go in resin, coat the object in resin and let it dry prior to immersing it in resin. Nice work, loved the color.
Thanks Lesley 👍
YES! The 1st enterprise in a bottle video is the 1st video I saw of yours and got me to sub! Was such and awesome video imo and I’m glad you did a 2nd video! Keep up the great vids!
Thanks Marcus 👍
Next time do a Klingon D-7 battle cruiser.
I watched both, they are great. I like the comments while you're making the second video. I don't feel as lost. Thanks
Looks amazing. Now that you have worked out that it's the previously cured resin giving away in heat, it would be great to see loads of resin orbs or rods of different colours arranged on Burl, then make another casting. The results could be awesome 👍👍👍
Thanks Mate, Yeah I’m already working on it ;)
I'm a HUGE Star Trek Fan! And I LOVE Them both!!!
So this is how ships in the bottle are really made! Looks amazing!!! 👏🏼👏🏼
Thanks Mate
no need for lamps when the Australian UV index maxes out almost daily :P
👍
Love these...... Got me inspired to try making some myself.
Thanks Mate
I just like watching because you’re always positive and fun, the end product being awesome is just an added bonus!
Thanks Mate 👍
That color the base was painted in was the best one I've ever seen used by this channel. What an awesome effect!
So crazy you were able to get the same results. I really like the look of this one.
Thanks Angi
Really cool work. I'm a dragon fan. Would love to see a small dragon inside a bottle like it is a pet.
Thanks Mate, cool idea
The Borg has hit the enterprise agine. (Scotty) I'm giving her all she's got captain
I love the seal on his workbench.
I love this!! The fractured rod looks so cool and really adds some depth! 😍 I love your stuff and am anxiously waiting for my dragon egg to arrive!!
Thanks Jen, it should arrive soon 👍
I thought the first one was cool, but mate you knocked it out of the park with take 2, very wicked.
Thanks Mike :)
You should try this again with no ship and a few rods to see if you can create a lot of these "explosions" in a project. If you use a reflective piece of burl to create more colors.
It’s like your reading my mind
One word for this amazing project Ben ; Outstanding!!!
Thanks Mate
Wow thats awesome Ben, loved watching it 👌 Glad to hear you back to your old self 🤗
Thanks Mand 👍
Your videos are so relaxing and for some reason help me fall asleep. I'll watch a video and then already be dozing off when it's done playing.
😊
Excellent work, the way the colour shifts on the base with the melted rod is very nice.
You make my heart very happy when you do things you love so much
Thanks Mate 👍
I really enjoyed this one! It was amazing! I love the color of the base. It really looks spacy!
Thanks Emily
@@BensWorx My pleasure! 😊
Outstanding work Ben! I love that color shift powder. I may try that exploding support rod trick in some future work. Thanks for the great video!
Wow, who would a thought! Great job Ben, really great job! Thanks for doing a 2nd one! They are awesome! 👏👏👏💜😊 Pam
Thanks Pam
@@BensWorx can i ask, how much did it sell for
So cool! Next higher level: two ships battle🤗 maybe Star Wars?? Ben is best!
Thanks Mate
Try using a cotton bud to spread glue and resin about, saves on trying to clean or even throw a good brush away everytime.
Not a bad idea but fibers come off the bud, when using UV resin to paint, the brush is saved as it doesn’t cure until uv light hits it so you can wipe it off and use it again
The only comment I have Ben is that it's another great one. Stay safe and well. Bill
Thanks Bill, you too

This one blew my mind it’s amazingly beautiful!! Absolutely amazing
Thanks Lorissa

Thanks Mate, it sounds like you have a great collection
Totally nailed it!! Again =D Nice work, it turned out so cool!
Thanks Zac
Great work Ben!! The 'failure' turned out great!!
I wonder if you made the rod a different colour would it look more awesome when it explodes :-)
Awesome job Ben! Live long and prosper. 🧡✨ ~ Roma
Thanks Roma 🖖

@@BensWorx experimenting with the rods to see what type of effects you can make would be great
Very well done. I love the effect. It's like space warping for the Enterprise.
Thanks Mate

Shared it with mum! She thinks it’s really cool. I think she’s obsessed with Star Trek I know the full intro from her watching it lol.
Thanks Keely, tell her i said hi 👋
Ive been thinking of doing a Titanic in a bottle. Not sure if I want full ships or wreck. Unfortunately, Ive never done resin so it wouldnt be in that. But I bet you could do awesome.
Hi Ben. I'm not a startrek fan but that piece is stunning. Love the two tone colours on the burl and your selection was spot on. Very well done Ben.
Thanks Terry
that looks cool, you got talent my friend, I like that you use the resin to make the bottle,👍👍👍
Thanks Mate
Smart, love watching the chilled content.

Have you thought about adding color to the resin in the rod that explodes? Then it would look like an explosion of color. Might be a cool effect.

Not keen on the weathering on the Enterprise, just made it look as if it was dirty and you wiped it over badly. I love the finish on the burl.
agreed.

I’ve never cast anything with epoxy but I still find forgetting to spray mold release very relatable.
You were perfectly hiding the ship at every rotation and hiding it until the end. Looks really cool!
That crack really makes the piece. Love that colour shift, too.
Thanks Lorna
Love the video. I am a star trek fan. I learn alot watching your videos. Many thanks and keep going. 👍 #STAYSAFE

This is AMAZING. I love it so much!!! And by coincidence I have Star Trek enterprise on the TV right now :')

Can you tell me more about sanding, buffing, and clarifying the resin after it has been on the lathe please?
I have a video on my channel explaining the process
Absolutely and totally awesome!
Thanks Ellen
Nice job. You should do some experiments with just resin rods or chunks and no objects and see what affects you can get.
Thanks Mate, will do

Love it, exploding rod is the biz. When I was young I had eye shadow like the powder you used 🤣 hahahaha

Next ship in the bottle add the concave bottom that wine bottles have. I think that will give it that little extra that will go a long way!
