    Thanks for this. Just picked up a 2001 and the guy had one front busted and one back busted - hanging with black electrical tape. I will need to replace four since I might as well do them all, and AMZ third-party lights look pretty inexpensive

      Thanks, Chris! Yeah, I always liked the looks of this one. Neighbor got it dirt cheap over 6 years ago - been a good runner. I had to rejet the carburetor mains a bit fatter when he first got it - it used to surge a bit at full throttle. That's about it other than maintenance and tires.
      Thanks for watching!

      Thanks for watching, Bill! The list is building up (for lawn equipment mostly, which is stacking up the automotive stuff as well), now that the grass is growing up here. 9" of rain in 4 weeks will do that! 😊

    Hey Smitty!
    You had to mention the weather didn't you, AND now all we have is cold, clouds, and rain. It's supposed to be spring! Not happening yet...

    Very helpful vid! I own a 2007 Boulevard C50T Just FYI the way that you are doing this is the only way yo tighten and loosen the nut on the back of the signal. That backing plate doesn't come off with those couple of screws. Still a pretty straightforward job. Thanks again for the insight!

      @SmittySmithsonite  5 ปีที่แล้ว

      Grass is growing like crazy here too ... but we've had almost 8" of rain this month so far! I'd sink to the axles LOL. Got up to 45° today .. now inching towards 40°. I hate it! Need about 40° MORE air temp here! My RD350 is going to stay parked a couple more weeks, I think.
      Thanks for watching, Scuba!

    Bring it in and you'll fix it. You get all kinds of stuff depending on the weather? Nice and easy one here. Thanks Smitty.

      @SmittySmithsonite  5 ปีที่แล้ว

      Yeah, I'll get snowblowers and snowmobiles in winter, TONS of lawn equipment of all types in spring, motorcycles in summer, and lots of woodsplitters and chainsaws in the fall. Cars and trucks are always year-round, but I seem to get hit all at once in the nicer weather.
      Thanks for watching, Wyatt!

    Does anyone know how to re attach the rear brake light on a VL1500? Rebuilding bike over the past year and near done. Holes in brake light gasket don’t line up with holes in rear fender. Can’t remember how it fits up. Thank you

    If you remove the phillips screw you can slide the wire out of your way and use a 14 deep socket with a swivel and long extension. I just did this yesterday and posted a video. It is my second install, I cut the wire on my first install. th-cam.com/video/V93IIaWGy4w/w-d-xo.html

    Was a nice couple weeks. .. all of sudden some brisk, extremely cold air is flowing around here! Brrr. From what I hear, EricO has snow showers coming through today. Lol. I wonder if you're experiencing similar? 🌬🌪🌨

      Yeah, 41° here this morning! I hate it! Was in the upper 30's yesterday morning, too. Got KILLER rain on top of all that - we're inching close to 8" for the month of April so far. Had tornado warnings yesterday. My yard is becoming a small pond / mud hole, LOL. All set with that white crap - had enough of that too! 😂
      Gotta love the test rides! I need to get my own bike out and rolling - she's been parked way too long (about 6 months!). Thanks for watching, Cuba! 😊

    Cool vid thank you! I have the same problem 👍 any advice on a short at the same time?

    • @SmittySmithsonite
      @SmittySmithsonite  ปีที่แล้ว

      Thanks, Travis!
      Shorts are normally always found near contact points in the harness, especially in areas of heat, vibration, and movement (Steering stem). Sometimes they can happen due to failed wiring, but that only usually happens if there's excessive heat (Like right next to the exhaust where it shouldn't be routed), or it is parked in the sun for hours a day, every day, all year long for many years. UV will destroy plastic and rubber. 9 times out of 10 I can find shorts just by doing a visual inspection.

      Yeah no clue when my differential is ever going to get here. I'm hoping by Memorial Day. We'll see ... 😣
      My neighbor got this Volusia real cheap several years ago. Been a great bike - about all I've had to do to it was go up a couple sizes on the main jets. Other than maintenance, that's about it.
      Thanks for watching LL!

      I usually order from Ron Ayers. They've had the best prices for years. Best to shop around the net to compare, though. www.ronayers.com/oemparts/a/suz/50d33260f8700232d0b3de35/turnsignal-front-rear-lamp-model-k4-k5

    Why don't they just sell the rubber stem for this bike?
    it should be about $15 but no. I can't find it.
    so I decided to change to LED lights which looked good but then I needed to get a capacitor which defeated the purpose of less load on the battery. So I put every thing back on and just put the broken light in the front since its mounted vertical anyway.
    Check out what a guy did to a Suzuki Volusia.

      Yeah I hear that Harry! Another way they get another buck (or in this case, $65) out of you.
      I've always hated how LED's use that resistor, too. Useless! Just takes energy from your alternator stator and turns it into heat. Waste of energy. I think these days they have flashers designed to work with LEDs, so they won't hyperblink - don't quote me on that, but I vaguely recall seeing one a while ago. Thanks for watching, Harry!
