MESH Automation - Bag Palletizing - Case Study

MESH Automation provides a custom palletizing solution for a commercial fertilizer manufacturer, addressing the challenges of handling 50-pound bags filled with custom-blended fertilizers. Manual palletizing posed ergonomic issues for plant personnel, and the MESH solution automates the process while ensuring precision and efficiency. The system includes a MESH-designed bag upender and turner, which feeds into a square roller bag conditioner to flatten and settle the contents for neat pallet stacking. An ABB IRB460 4-axis robot equipped with an SAS claw tool is used to pick up each bag and place it onto the pallet. A slip sheet picking vacuum tool places a slip sheet on the incoming pallet, initiating the palletizing sequence. Once the pallet is loaded, it is transferred to a Phoenix wrapper equipped with a top hooder feature to secure the load for outdoor storage. MESH also designed and integrated the pallet dispenser, slip sheet magazine, conveyor system, and safety features. As a turnkey solution provider, MESH handled installation, operator training, and ongoing support for the system, ensuring a seamless implementation for the manufacturer.
