I think this is acceptable. I remember back in the day working as a flight attendant when I had my crew transport driver showing up with a burst appendix and I had to take over the wheels and pickup the rest of the crew enroute while finally made sure the incapacitated driver was sent to the hospital
The driver survived and thanked me during another crew transport run a few months later. Never thought it was important till I realised what sort of disruption it might have caused
especially since it wasnt "COVID" and (travellers, flight attendents) who are jabbed are dropping mid flights!! Isnt this enough evidence to prove the jabs and thier dangers now??? Beyond that!
Is it really happening more often or just reported on more often? Edit: Or are the increasing number of incidents just proportional to an increase of flights overall?
The issue is that the pilots average age is increasing substantially. The cost for the aspiring pilots and treatment of new pilots has made the job undesirable.
That's the Essence of 2 Man Operation Procedure, the Aircraft is being Flown by only one in Command of the Controls but it still demands the Presence of Two pilots.
The fact that the aircraft did not divert indicates to me that this deadheading pilot is type rated on that airplane. Otherwise, their assistance would be helpful to prepare for a diversion, but they wouldn't be expected to continue the flight longer than necessary, I would think. Continuing in a non-emergency mode indicates that both pilots were fully qualified to operate that aircraft
Are licensed pilots highlighted on the passenger list? I can only assume they are more discreet than a PA asking "So, does anyone back there know how to fly this thing? We could use some help..."
Deadheading pilot or not,on vacation or not, even a retired one will always act as a professional in situations like this and become a helping hand in a cockpit or any other kind of trouble.
Deadheading - coming to house, not necessarily the crew members living in airline hub base, at Brazilian legislation from 2017 create a new options: Virtual base, the crew begin your journey in your city. But hotel or meals payments not included (in discussion).
So the concept of single pilot planes is not a good idea.
Oh, no way! They'll never go to single pilot aircraft, especially not after that Germanwings incident several years ago. It's too dangerous.
This is why Boeing correctly ruled it out early on 3 or 4 years ago and people blasted them over it
Correct
It proves itself time and time again. Citation crash a few weeks ago crashed because single pilot incapacitation
There are already many single pilot aircraft out flying every single day without incident.

Yet another demonstration that the idea of a sole pilot is unfounded.
Having more than 2 persons on flight qualified to pilot the plane in an emergency situation is a good idea.

'New Foundland' is pronounced "NEW FUNLAND."
Stuff like this is happening more often. There's like an emergency every month

Yes it is after COVID vaccination with mRNA
It is because we are in the age where we can get information readily available.
Yes because of all the MRNA covid vaccinations causing massive amounts of side effects. Especially strokes etc.

And with all of this there are still trying to see how to fit a single pilot in a cockpit
Never
Can't you use the inflatable co-pilot like the one that was used in the 1980 movie AIRPLANE! ?
Can Simple flying do a video on Delta airplane lands in Charlotte without properly working front landing gear
"Suddenly"
Nuff said

They know when crews are onboard.
Well what would have happened if there hadn't been a deadheading crew member on the plane?
Single pilot can easily do the job, but having 2 in the cockpit makes it lot easier.
Ted Striker would have helped

I think it is a good idea for pilots to help other airlines
I'm curious to know if a different pilot from a different airline steps into assist, will they get paid or some other compensation?
🙃
When over the comms they said "is there any pilot onboard?"
Makes a change . Normally it's the engines that are the problem.
It's great that these pilots can help out. But I wonder, can't most planes nowadays land themselves?

Just like Doctors and Nurses. My wife’s a cardiologist and had to jump into action on a flight to Asia. Things went well.
Holy moly
Why is so much of the video just talking about deadheading

Pode explicar email português?
Had the pilot been vaccinated?
New Foundland is more like New Finland
I always assumed it was newf-undlnd
Pub-quiz time: in which decade did Newfoundland become a part of Canada?
1949
Single pilot never good idea, emergency can happen, thanks. I'm glad nothing mayor happen.
first! How tragic.

Soon AI will remove the need of them both ;-)
All airline should carried a deadheaded at all times. Safety over money
Not necessary on an aircraft with two on the flight-deck already.
Happens more and more since all the Covid vaccinations… its staggering how many medical emergencies occur or pilot incapacitations…

What a boring story. How is this an emergency??? Nothing happened. Omg. Who cares
I'm sure if the FA came to you asking if you could fly a plane it would suddenly turn exciting.
