I've always been drawn to him before ever hearing him speak. He's so intelligent, open minded, self reflective, and not too hard on the eyes either. I relate to his childhood growing up privileged, in more ways than one, and now I see why there were people around me who were self-destructive. Very deep insight. Great interview.
Idky Faux News and Rightists keep trying to make it seem like AWK is somehow CONservative. He's never said anything either way. In fact he stated he has no political affiliation and feels both major parties are dividing America. The only reason he appears on these right leaning programs is because he's using them for free exposure. He actually mocks them periodically. #PartyParty
He’s not afraid to be on right leaning shows..he knows the lefties will prob give him shit or have some comment (kinda like you) so I respect him for that
I think this guy gets overlooked a lot because most of his songs share a common theme, but that dude can write a hook like almost no one can these days.
Why did I never see this?! Recently, I found out that he had a music career (only knew him from Destroy, Build, Destroy), and now he's been on Crowder?!!! Nice.
I found him from looking for that song from Hellsing Abridged ep8, then found out its by the guy from Destroy Build Destroy, and then found out he was on Jackass before finding about this.
Interesting fellow, he seems a bit on the conservative side but I can imagine in the industry he's in, he can't appear to be too conservative or he'll risk losing a portion of his fan base.
I've watched all his interviews on Faux, Red Eye, ect ect and have yet to hear him speak any specific political views either way. On the contrary I believe him to be more Liberal. He may be using Faux news for exposure purposes
I think he's appealing to both sides because he views you as a person, not an ideology. Liberals tend to see him as liberal leaning, conservatives tend to see him as conservative leaning, but he has no particular sway one way or the other (at least from what it looks like to me).
@@bud389 well thats because hes so vague with the details about his personal life. Dude is a complete enigma, and Im positive thats part of his marketing strategy. Its easy for me to hate crowder because he puts all his garbage out there in the front for me to see, and good for him for doing so. It helps me make a better informed decision for myself if I want to associate with him or not, but Andrew? His persona is nothing but enigmatic, positive energy, and thats why hes so popular the way that he is.
Maybe he's just a friendly dude willing to have a conversation. Seems like a middle of the road guy like myself who leans left in some ways and right in the others.
A very interesting interview with some great insights. I was thinking the other day that I had become too tough and need to weaken up a little (Man down?) so it was nice to hear that confirmed in this show. The problem with being tough all of the time is that you miss a lot of what you need to know because being tough involves turning off -- at at least, turning down -- on your sensitivity levels. I don't mean, becoming all girly and emotional, I mean mentally picking up on the subtle things of life. If you cannot do that you become ever less creative and the opposite of creative is destructive. Great show. Loved it. Andrew is an interesting guy and Steven's chatty interview style did a great job in teasing out the best from Andrew.
Insanely underrated, a lot of his music is... "She is Beautiful" is incredible too, the riff alone is out this world... just listened to Ever Again for the first time cause I'm revisiting his music for the first time in so long, and it nearly brought me to tears, but at the same time instilled fierce power of hope, and motivation in me, which I need at the moment... which all of his music does. Such an underrated musician. Need more inspiring people like him, yet we get nothing but selfish, trashy people ruling, and dominating the music industry these days, making trash MUSIC, if you can even call it that.
Andrew always has this look. Like he's not sure how he got here or for what purpose. Lol I'm still wondering too as I see him in various places throughout the years but I can never figure out why except he is a musician but he has been on political shows and MTV (I think) and sometimes just random places. He just shows up. He said he just does things when people ask. Even when he is not sure what's going on. Kind of a Forest Gump approach to life but Forest did have a lot of adventures so I look forward to learning more about this guy. ☺
I saw Billy Joel at Clark AFB in the Philippines in the 80s. Those guys played through a thunder storm and jammed through the rain. Water shooting up from the drums. I was on a friends SUV watching over the fence and it was the best Concert experience I've ever had. Those guys were game, rock n' roll athletes. They were all about having a great time and doing a great show no matter what. The hearty souls who stuck it out with them in the rain and storm were well rewarded. Those are the great entertainers. Not sucked into their own ego and don't do the poutie whiny bitch thing when the energy of what they did once doesn't constantly repeat. When they're not even the same person who made it happen and have transformed into an entitled douche nozzle. How is that good to be around?
Andrew WK and his music are awesome and soooo much FUN! He's a living party! (Steven Crowder's also awesome. Big fan!) His positive attitude comes through in his music. I like lots of metal/hard rock types, but listening to Andrew WK is especially great 'cause it's fun and has great riffs and he's actually a good musician. It's nice not having every metal song be about mass slaughter and overdosing. Dave Mustaine of Megadeth complained that lots of metal musicians suck as musicians, and he was right. But Andrew WK actually has tons of musical talent and creates some awesome work. He did Johann Bach at Punkfest! That's crazy!
StevenCrowder I loved the interview. Two of the coolest guys on TH-cam in the same video. Don't know why anyone hates on The WK or The Crowder. Thanks for replying! I've been on TH-cam for 8 years and never posted a comment until the one above, but I wanted to say how cool this was. Your work is awesome, man!
From what I've seen, I like the guy. Seems genuine, honest, very intelligent, respectful of others. Don't agree with him on all things, but like he says, why should I? That would be boring. Don't agree with Crowder all the time either.
Listened to “Ever Again” over a year ago and now I’m after diving into research on AWK as of late and seems to be a great guy. Then I find this with two guys I really like, cause I’ve been watching Crowder for a couple to few years now.

I knowww... Back when i used to watch T.V i remember seeing him all over Fox News (Red eye mostly) And its like whenever an artist of any type appears on FNC its like they are drawing their line and making a statement.
Wow, great correlation between Andrew WK and Art of Manliness. Because, frankly both are MEN living by Principle. Even if their principles differ, both are essentially instructing MEN to live by Principle. Which has become a lost, "art".
Would be amazing for you to have more of these interviews with "counterculture" Artists. There are many that are much more complex then the personas they portray on the stage. I can name a few but it seems to me that alot of the "counterculture" artists seem much more articulate and well rounded individuals than the pop artists. Just a thought.

StevenCrowder By the way Great Interview, I like the fact you did not talk about partying, actually got a fresh set of questions in there. Thank you for that
Can someone help me understand Andrew W.K? I am not being sarcastic I really just don't know anything about him but I know he used to be on Red Eye all the time and that people adore the dude. Seems like a cool guy but just wondering how he became such a cultural phenom
Kevin Semaj Everything is boring to someone. People who live up their own ass to the point they don't understand entertainment is subject to individual tastes and feel the need to comment from the dark smelly depths of their own ass, are boring to me.
I'm not interested in Andrew W.K.'s opinions. I've found his "insight" to be severely lacking. I don't necessarily think he's a bad person, but he's someone who should be listening and not speaking - at least not in the public forum, at least not yet. The world has too many uninformed and confused people speaking as if they know what they're talking about. And, I'm fairly disappointed in his introduction into conservative media "as if" he was a voice that deserved recognition. The world already has too many people listening to uninformed and confused people "as if" they were saying something worthwhile. To all - Stop following and promoting people just because they're endorsed by someone else.
BMcbugger How about you build yourself a platform (not just use mine, mind you), so that you can let everyone know why they should completely discount W.K.'s point of view? Since you're so much more informed, I'm sure you can build up an audience at a healthy, brisk pace.
StevenCrowder Don't be defensive over my comment. Your reputation isn't attached to his. Especially not with me. Understand that I consider your opinion and your commentary far more informative, factual, and much more constructive overall. Again, I'm not saying he's a bad guy, and I have no axe to grind with him. I didn't even know who he was until he popped up on my radar a month ago. Since then I've checked in on what he's had to say. And I'm just being frank, I'm not being vindictive or cruel. And my frank opinion is, the guy would make a far better dj than a commentator on important social and political issues. Just check this interview out again yourself and try to be as objective as you can. He's nearly admitting what I'm saying about himself - he's ignorant and he doesn't know where he stands. And maybe this much is a criticism of you, but I think the issue here is that his celebrity and "open-mindedness" is blinding people to the fact that he doesn't know what he's talking about. He doesn't even know where his values are Steven. He's years behind where you are if he was even headed in that direction, if he even has the guts to finally take a stand. He seems too intent on the middle ground as if there was something inherently virtuous about taking the middle of the road and being non-committal. I understand that *we* - those of us who know where we stand and share similar values, and I guarantee that you and I share similar values - don't want to push away people like Andrew W.K., but at the same time we shouldn't compromise our integrity to endorse or promote someone who doesn't even know where they stand. If he figures things out and has something worthwhile to say, then great. Until then, he's just noise. Sorry Steven, but I just can't get behind you on this. As for the whole "Well do it yourself then mister smarty pants" message to me - don't fall into the trap of doing that. I know you know better. You're fantastic at what you do. I have no idea if I could do what you do anywhere near as well as you do it. But I do know where I stand and I'm able to put cognitive thoughts and cogent arguments together in text and reason out what I hear and see from other people. Just because I'm a working Joe and don't take the time away from my work and family and friends to make TH-cam videos or get into broadcasting or media of some kind doesn't mean that my voice doesn't have merit. I have respect for what you do. And I respect that Andrew W.K. is charismatic and seems to have decent poise and energy in his work. We *need* people like you Steven. I'm not blowing smoke. We, as a society, desperately need voices like yours circulating among us - getting the conversation going, advocating our common values, being brave enough to take on these issues knowing you'll be subject to irrational scrutiny. What you do is a tremendously positive influence. You're a warrior for good whether you think of yourself as one or not. Andrew W.K. is not (yet?). And you know it. I pray for your success in your endeavors and I pray for Andrew W.K.'s welfare. I hope he does figure things out. But, again, I'm not a big fan of him being promoted "as if" he has qualified himself to be part of the bigger conversation. He hasn't.
BMcbugger there's nothing wrong with staying in the middle... that would be objective would it not? also in a duality reality, people who stand on the extremes are typical extremely wrong imo. And in the end there is no arbiter of right and wrong, everyone has their own opinions and perceptions.

He hasn't.
BMcbugger Dang! That's quite a novel you wrote there. Maybe I'll read it some day...
BMcbugger there's nothing wrong with staying in the middle... that would be objective would it not? also in a duality reality, people who stand on the extremes are typical extremely wrong imo. And in the end there is no arbiter of right and wrong, everyone has their own opinions and perceptions.
maybe everything isn't as black and white as you think
