Andrew W.K.'s positive vibes are so powerful they radiate through this video. What people don't know is that his white t-shirts absorb the sins of everyone who sees him. He destroys them ceremonially every evening.
That shirt has never been white. Dude looks like he slept in the gutter since '90. As popular as he is you would think he would know what bleach and a washing machine is.
I met Andrew years ago on the Warped Tour, passed out waiting in line to get his autograph. He and his friend helped me up and I got to hang out with them for a bit while they signed autographs. They gave me a granola bar and a coke. Pretty fantastic people, the reason why the line was so long and took so long was because he was getting to know each peerson and signing a damn booklength for an autograph for each person. Fuckin respect.
He has downed a whole Trinidad Scorpion for hot pepper gaming and could barely utter a complete scentence... I'm pretty certain he didn't want to go back to that.
We will find out on Thursday. Unless he did such a fun episode that they hold it back for later in the season. He would be a great guest. Especially with how thorough Shawn and Co. are with their interviews.
some of you doubting he'd show up I can only say don't underestimate the man. he's one of the craziest mofos on the planet and I say that as a compliment because Andrew's hype is the kind of hype I aspire to reach in life.
*Pizza Hut changed their cheese from 1996-97 from a three cheese blend to only mozzarella; their toppings from canned to fresh; and changed how their pizzas were made; *Toppings used to be mixed in a bowl with the cheese then put on the pizza with sliced meats on top except for Supremes and Pepperoni Lovers which had a layer of sliced meats on the sauce under the cheese. The new method placed any specialty pizza sliced meats on the sauce, the cheese, and then the fresh toppings on top of the cheese. I do not recall sliced meat counts changing. *Stuffed Crust dough was made fresh at the first store I worked at in May of '96, but it was a different recipe. We got bags of flour mix for all doughs and added water. We quickly, within a few months, moved to frozen for Stuffed Crust. The frozen dough made it easier to stuff the crust by making it easier to get a thin outer edge as the dough didn't proof much and would stick to the pan. If we ran out of Stuffed Crust dough and used the regular Hand Tossed it would turn out like the pizzas in the video, with the crust way too big and often with the cheese busting out. Stuffing a New Yorker dough worked well but because it was extra large it was an employee only thing. *The garlic butter on the Stuffed Crust ring was added after the pizza was baked using a spray can of garlic margarine. *At my first store the only frozen dough was Stuffed Crust, bread sticks, and personal Pan. This was a franchisee choice and, in our case, depended on freezer space. I moved to a brand new, just built store where everything but the New Yorker, Thin, and large Pan dough was frozen.
I worked at Pizza Hut in the 90s. Dough always came frozen, after thawed and rise we made stuffed crust by hand with actual string cheese lengths end to end.
so with the bites... lol. Make a stuffed crust, then press a cutting ring on top of pizza that cuts crust into bite sized pieces. Twist in and make sure its a pocket
Where is the freakin' LOVE button TH-cam?! So tired of your shit always messing up my day in the worst ways! This is the best! Andrew brings high on life to a whole new level!
Great video giving the throwback Pizza Hut pies some credibility. I worked for the last Pizza Hut franchise to still do things the old way for 3 years and I'm not afraid to let ya'll in on the secrets of the first two pizza's. First, a lovers pizza is 1.5 times more toppings than original with a pepperoni lovers correctly having a lower layer with the regular amount of pepperonis then topped with more low moisture mozz which is then topped again with another layer of half as many pepperonis. Second, the crust. We were the last store in the country to resist the move to frozen dough and still made it from the original premixed recipe. The only fat that was added was vegetable oil, no butter at all. It was then rolled through a sheeter and tossed by hand to fit the trays. A ring was also used over the pan to allow that defined crust to be made. Third, the stuffed crust. This dough is the exact same dough as the hand tossed dough, made fresh every day. The secret is to pull the outer edges thinner than the middle. That prevents the dough from puffing up to a humongous size. You stretch the dough, wrap it around the cheese and then pull and tuck like you would if you were wrapping a deli sandwich. This helps to prevent air from getting in and puffing up the crust too much. You also heavily dock the middle, uncheesed portion of the dough. Also, garlic butter was added after the pizza comes out of the oven and not before. Hope ya'll loved the insight from a guy who live it. Long live the original hut! P.S. Not the 2010's hut, they suck! It's all frozen dough, changed dough, and smaller topping quantities. It's a shell of its former self.
Stuffed crust was not made from frozen. It's the thickness of the dough; much thicker than Italian thin crust and similar to pan in consistency but not proofed so it doesn't fluff up in the oven as much. The dough pucks arrive at the store frozen and are defrosted the day before. At least that is how it was done in the U.K. about 15 years ago when I worked there as a teenager.
Rich Benson not much changed, 5 years ago when I was there they're still using frozen dough pucks that proof differently based on which pizza. But they use a medium sized puck for the stuffed crust so the dough gets stretched extra far and thin around the string cheese in the crust.
Can confirm both of your reports. Worked at PH as a "production professional" mid to late 90s. The dough was stretched over the edge of the pan and crimped over the cheese. Also the dough we used was not floured as I remember. It wasn't oiled either, but it was kind of oily and non-stick to the touch. Little Caesar's is now stuffing. I wonder how their product and process differs, if at all.
I worked at pizza hut in canada 2005-2008, my location did not use frozen dough. We made dough fresh in store daily and it was never frozen. Smaller locations had switched to frozen dough but I worked in a bigger location that still had a full service dining room, served beer and wine etc. Other than that it was about the same as you folks are saying. For stuffed crust the dough was not floured, which probably helped it stick. Wasn't really any trick to it other than that. Once in a while a stuffed crust would "blow out" in the oven, with the string cheese leaking out but not very often. Aside, using the same frozen pucks for pan as for hand tossed and just proofing them more sounds like it would make really shitty pan pizza. When we made fresh dough there were 2 different recipes with different yeast blends, one for pan and one for hand tossed + stuffed crust. The pan pizza dough got proofed and really inflated a lot in the proofer, the end result was crust that was a good solid 3/4" thick and extremely light and fluffy. Hand tossed and stuffed ended up under 1/4" thick and a lot chewier, in a good way. I feel like when they started doing frozen dough they pretty much just lowered their standards
I too worked at Pizza Hut in the UK (for about 10 years), this is correct however I think you've missed the point he's making. The dough pucks arriving frozen is exactly what he meant about quality control, they're made in a factory to uniform shape, size and thickness, sent to the restaurants where they're defrosted then prepared and cooked by a bunch of college/university aged kids. "Real" pizza places don't EVER use frozen dough, it is all baked from scratch in house. Even Domino's in the UK don't ever fuck with frozen dough at any point in the supply chain.
omikrin1 worked at both as a teen in the 90s. Same process for both except pizza hut's cheese was round, caesar's cheese was square. Also caesars used fresh dough with cornmeal dust, pizza hut used frozen proof in the pan sprayed with "food release" aerosol oil, but in both cases pizza dough was room temp, stretched, & wrapped / crimped around the cheese to bake. Cheese was the quality of a "moo-town snacker" for anyone who remembers those. The mozzarella they are using here is too fresh / not dry enough, and thats why its busting through.
Is there a special brand of t-shirts that Andrew specifically buys that looks dingy or has he been wearing the same shirt for years?! I'm really concerned and curious.
From above "Andrew W.K.'s positive vibes are so powerful they radiate through this video. What people don't know is that his white t-shirts absorb the sins of everyone who sees him. He destroys them ceremonially every evening."
I can confirm 100% that pizza hut does not pre-make stuff crust pizza's and freeze them, they let the dough thaw, then take the dough, add in, basically string cheese using plastic rings around the pizza edge that allows them to perfectly stretch and fold the crust.
Randy Miller III - Maybe in the 70’s and 80’s. When they sold out to PepsiCo, the quality went to shit. They started using frozen dough, and decided that 2 types of crust wasn’t enough. The fact that these 3 guys weren’t alive when Thin N Crispy RULED, explains why they don’t have a clue. I was involved in dough research in Wichita during the late 80’s, and they truly were listening to the wrong executive idiots. Sad.
Holy shit! Book it! I havent thought about that in yeeeeaaaarrrsss! I was(am still) a reader so i cashed in on soooo many free personal pizzas through the "book it" program. Thanks for the walk down memory lane!
I always enjoy Sean, but the guy with the long hair was so nice, very positive and genuine. Seems like he’d be a very nice person to have asa good friend
Andrew W.K. was a big deal in the early 2000s for arena rock anthems like "Party Hard" among other tracks. He never stopped making music and released an album earlier this year. With that said, I've always liked the man's positive attitude but I have never gotten deep into his music.
I'm turning 30 this year and was introduced to him by the jackass series on late night MTV and cky videos. He's a vocalist in a rock band and back in the late 90's early 2000's rock, heavy metal alternative, emo and screamo was the music everyone was into . So I guess hes positive vibe and appearances gave him his popularity plus the fact that he indeed loves to party.
That was a really good video and I actually just wanted to go back in 1995, hang out to Blockbuster, have Mortal Kombat running on the Super Nintendo and a pizza/pepsi night ! Thanks for that!
Pizza Hut was still okay until about 10 years ago when they started doing the any pizza, any toppings for $10 promo. They lowered the quality of the crust and skimped on the toppings and have tasted like garbage ever since. Haven't ate there in years but I heard they now have fees for each state that says "fee due to the cost of running business in California" LOL who the fuck would pay a fee to buy from Pizza Hut?
Starting to wonder why Sean is always wearing so many layers........we've seen the washboard abs pic from your interview with PhillyD, so there's no reason to hide.......
Hey, loved this episode! Andrew WK looks like a cool dude. Anyways, just wanted to let you guys know that the pizza taco hybrid is basically a Honduran street food called “Baleada”. A flour tortilla with refried beans, sour cream, cheese, chorizo, and pickled onions and jalapeños... yep, that’s a baleada. And IT IS the best party food.
Worked at Pizza Hut as a cook. The stuffed crust isn't frozen, but they use a spiked roller after crimping the crust to seal the edges. String mozzarella was correct. The crust is stretched extra thin to prevent bubbling and to make sure the crust isn't thick around the cheese.
I worked at Pizza Hut in high school and have made my share of stuffed crust pizzas. The secret is to use a perforator around the edges. Not only does this secure your crust, but it also keeps the dough from bubbling up and opening your string cheese purse.

Bloody love Andrew WK. He followed me on Twitter and reassured me that baking is a form of partying.

Possible Andrew W.K. Hot Ones episode coming on the way?!
Pat Flanigan hopefully it will be a lot like his episode of Hot Pepper Gaming
YES:P Why hasn't Andrew been on yet?
I need to see this!
I would cry
would make a great episode
Andrew W.K.'s enthusiasm for life is what makes me a fan. So many exhaustively cynical artists out there, he's like a breath of fresh air.
Andrew W.K.'s positive vibes are so powerful they radiate through this video. What people don't know is that his white t-shirts absorb the sins of everyone who sees him. He destroys them ceremonially every evening.
Andrew W.K. is a sin eater?
His shirt is.
Hands down the funniest comment I've seen on youtube in a long time xD
That shirt has never been white. Dude looks like he slept in the gutter since '90. As popular as he is you would think he would know what bleach and a washing machine is.
This is precisely why I pray to him every night. The. Man. Gets. Shit. DONE.
"It's disrespectful to not acknowledge this level of euphoria."
Damn, that's some profound wisdom.
Never heard of Andrew W.K. before, but he looks like he's having so much fun, it's adorable. Will be checking him out!
Stefan Sjumarken You have to check out some of his "Ask Andrew WK" columns on village voice. The dude is a philosopher and a poet.
Check out his album "I Get Wet". It's really fun music.
He got some limelight in the Jackass era, the song in... I think the first Jackass movie? "We Want Fun" was Andrew. Really fun dude.
You should see the video of Andrew W. K.'s Workout Plan.
3:28 Andrew's face of pure awe and the "yeah" screams satisfaction and pride. A wonderful moment on film.
"I'm feeling a little uneasy and insecure, but not about the pizza just in general"

I love how proud Andrew looks after looking at his finished pizza. "Y-yeeaah" He literally is loving the pizza just for the pizza existing.
This video is giving me so much brostalgia.
far out, brotendo
I may also need to get a brostate exam. Make sure there's enough.

PLEASE HAVE ANDREW ON HOT ONES....
he may have not wanted to do hot ones which is why he is doing this
He has downed a whole Trinidad Scorpion for hot pepper gaming and could barely utter a complete scentence... I'm pretty certain he didn't want to go back to that.

Dejoblue the big new Yorker was so damn good
Everything is frozen now
Andrew WK has such an expressive face. Every time they cut to him he's just beaming with childlike wonder.
You would too, if you were in such a hallowed place such as a pizza making contest.
These three should have their own series
DESTROY BUILD DESTROY!
I love you, Char!
BananaWarrior specking of Gundam and Andrew WK, he made an album of English covers for the original Gundam.
The Red Comet Great album. He does the Gihren Zabi speech on it. I always laugh and say "Blame this on the misfortune of your birth." when I hear it.

Wide-angle lenses making one arm look massive is my fetish

The chef in this video truly understands 90s pizza hut vibes.
Best video on the channel so far in my opinion. Every second was awesome.
This was honestly the best Sean in the Wild episode, and Andrew Wks Album is a great album to listen through I recommend it 👍👍
Which one?
Paul O. I should’ve been specific, his recent one your not alone
to avoid leakage of stuffed crust, crimp the pie edge, then flip... then put toppings on.. so seam is on the bottom = )
Andrew's responses....he is so baked. Love it!
Sean Evans and Pizza......I'm fine with it
I love the way Andrew W.K .'powers down' in between talking... genius!

Sean and Andrew seriously need a show together. This was awesome!

so with the bites... lol. Make a stuffed crust, then press a cutting ring on top of pizza that cuts crust into bite sized pieces. Twist in and make sure its a pocket
Was still made this way when I worked at Pizza hut in late 2000s. The mistake in the video was not sealing it well enough.
I worked at a pizza hut in the late '90s. We didn't have any frozen dough.
Andrew W.K. doesn't disappoint, as always. Anthony Falco is a new one for me but I really dig this guy.
this is Andrew W.K. with another party product review. this. is. a. good video.
I'm lovin the chemistry between these three

Why is Andrew low key Tarzan
Tarzan is fucking hot, and so is Andrew
There's no "low key" about it.
no dreads tho. trazan who owns a brush
Millennial Tarzan
Easily the best Sean in the wild episode I’ve ever seen.
Is there a special brand of t-shirts that Andrew specifically buys that looks dingy or has he been wearing the same shirt for years?! I'm really concerned and curious.
Thaelectricfeel, he wears one shirt for his tour and washes it once.
From above "Andrew W.K.'s positive vibes are so powerful they radiate through this video. What people don't know is that his white t-shirts absorb the sins of everyone who sees him. He destroys them ceremonially every evening."

maybe people aren't all that bad
StubotticusRex did you reply just copy and paste this from another commenter?? Damn, youre definitely a loser.
I can confirm 100% that pizza hut does not pre-make stuff crust pizza's and freeze them, they let the dough thaw, then take the dough, add in, basically string cheese using plastic rings around the pizza edge that allows them to perfectly stretch and fold the crust.

Starting to wonder why Sean is always wearing so many layers........we've seen the washboard abs pic from your interview with PhillyD, so there's no reason to hide.......

Party God.
Andrew grew up in my home town😂

Only 90s kids know how good Pizza Hut used to be... Man they are such dogshit now
Worked at Pizza Hut as a cook. The stuffed crust isn't frozen, but they use a spiked roller after crimping the crust to seal the edges. String mozzarella was correct. The crust is stretched extra thin to prevent bubbling and to make sure the crust isn't thick around the cheese.
Pizza the Hut
Clank boss they jammed the radar.
Clank boss Never underestimate the power of the Schwartz!
Once again another quality video. 🍕👏

"we went back in time, only to travel into the future" - Sean Evans.
I worked at Pizza Hut in high school and have made my share of stuffed crust pizzas. The secret is to use a perforator around the edges. Not only does this secure your crust, but it also keeps the dough from bubbling up and opening your string cheese purse.
8:59 The way his face lights up at the mention of a taco pizza.
I wish Pizza Expert has its on show with Andrew W.K .. they are awesommmmmeee...
