I remember being around 10 and playing this for the first time. I immediately hit restart on my ps1 and rewatched this intro a couple of times before even playing the game
15 years larer and i still play and enjoy this game. Yes its a brunch of pixel, but everything was so extreme, the ambiance was unique. Brutal, scary, and metal af. Then came burnout 2, and after that title, except for NFS undercover and lost wanted, no car games could ever give me the same feelings. Truly a masterpiece
I've been looking for the stock footage and sources from this intro for a pretty long time now but have yet to find anything. It's hard to tell which parts of this were filmed just for this intro and which parts are sourced from stock libraries. If anyone happens to recognize anything or has any information, I would greatly appreciate a reply!
Footage of the band Fear Factory is from the "Replica" music video. One of the car crashes (a Cadillac being hit by a Lincoln Continental in an underground car park) is from the 1977 film "Telefon."
This is a track called Machine Debaser. Pretty much, a demo version of Hurt Locker from Digimortal. It was released on Hatefiles, which was released after.
I agree, after 20 some or so years, this still is the most badass intro ever, I swear.
Soundtrack Is: Fear Factory - Machine Debaser

One of the baddest intros ever.

Me too :)
I like how they reused the Replica music video for the performance scenes.

I wish Wreckfest would have this kinda intro. Not even the Intros to DD 1, 2 and Raw or FlatOut were this extrem.

I want that music for the instructional driving scenes
No intro to the game ever been so fucking good
This could have been fear factory's fourth album between obsolete & digimortal

This game isn't even half bad for what I assume to be a budget title
