This kind of music makes you work like a dog during the day. I'm all fired up the brass sound is so solid!!I can blow my house with it's sound. Thanks for sharing great work indeed.
It's incredible how he re-orchestrated a Pat Matheny tune to sound like the theme song from a 1960s/70s private eye TV show. I can see the opening credits in my mind.
Rex DiPietro ... The insanely good composition and musicianship of Metheny aside, his music is nothing if not emotional... its a big part of what makes it so great
@@andrewroth3584MY DAD played that solo...Tim Neff. He was in Bob Curnow's college band and apparently played 4th chair on this chart and got the flugel solo. I still have the flugel and play myself a lot!
Yes the brass are magnificent but....did the saxes even bother to show up the day they recorded this? They needn't have. There are beautiful lines from the saxes in this chart, none of them are audible. Wierd mix.
I grew up on Metheny and I've always loved this song but man, the brass takes it to a whole other level of awesomeness!!!
Lyle Mays' conceptions really lend themselves to orchestration.
The trumpet at the end is orgasmic
Killer chart. That ascending trumpet-section scale near the end...
As a lead trumpet player who's playing this for my highschool band, that is SO much fun to do
@@andrewroth3584 I'm a 52 year old lead trumpet player and I also love playing that bit 🙂
Fantastic doesn't even begin to describe this. I thought only jazz from heaven could sound this good.

6:16 this moment in music to me resembles a memory of the best moment of one's life.
True! :-))

Metheny Should work with big bands more often damn it. Orgasmic!
Fantastique. Cela me fait aussi penser aux compositions de Michel Herr ( un grand Belge )
That is a nice tune! Loved it!
how can people dislike this?
Sensational.
love the trumpet solo at 3:25- 4:40
Better than trumpet. Flugelhorn :)

+1 That music.
6:43 ending sounds a lot like Stan Kenton's Decoupage
i love this chart
I listen to this album when I edit my gaming videos
In some ways my least favourite track from Letter from Home but this version goes right inside it and pulls out some great links. Sweet!
Double thumbs up!
