    i love this...reminds me of the old days with Gerald Wilson's band or Count Basie...don't hear much of this style of music...Great (I wish someone would video taped this session)

    Was told by my junior high jazz band director to listen to it on repeat until we perform. So far it’s awesome. I’m planning on trying out for the improvised Alto Sax solo in the middle. I’m excited.

    A masterclass in big band arranging. Very lush harmonies with a laid back feel and nice shout sections. Great delegations of lines to sections and instrument groups as well.

    I played the lead alto part, but my band director gave me the solos in the trumpet part. This was because I am a flute player that wanted a solo in the song.

    One of the few big band Metheny arrangements that sounds like it belongs. Not a big fan of the song with Bona singing, but this version really works.

      It's fourth trumpet that actually plays it, and it's not a written part. It's completely improvised. I played this at a concert 10 hours ago. I'm first trumpet in my high school jazz band.

    1 st trumpet part is boring, besides, if you love the song just listen and figure it out. If you are a good enough musician I'm sure you will be fine. The solo sections are great btw.
