Not going to lie, Skyrim is easily my favorite game ever. I remember where I was when this was announced. Watching G4's coverage of E3 way back in 2011 on my grandma's couch. I didn't pick it up until a few years later. A friend of mine got 2 copies of it for Christmas and sold one to me for a dub at a Gramatik concert in Vermont. I was going through a break up at the time, and this game helped me out so much. I've easily put hundreds and hundreds of hours into Skyrim. Imagine my surprise when the Switch was announced. I remember thinking, "I'll pay $300 just for portable Skyrim". Fast forward to 2 weeks ago, I finally saved up enough for a Switch and one game. Decided to check out this review before I purchased Skyrim (again), really happy I did and I'm really happy with the game. This is an amazing channel and you deserve everything you have earned. Thank you

I feel that $60 is still too much for a port, no matter how good it is. It’s been released so many times before, and for cheaper, with the same amount of content. I’ll wait for it to go on sale. Btw, how about a port of The Witcher 3 for the Switch?
El Nieto PR witcher 3 cannot run on the switch. It can barely run on low to medium settings on consoles. I mean unless you'd like 480p and low settings.

Great Review! But I heard the Switch version has some specific features that other versions miss. Like motion control for sword fighting and for the bow and arrow. Also I heard they extended the lock-picking mechanic with motion controls and the HD-Rumble feature. Maybe I just missed the part, but it would be nice to see if those additions are any good
Funnycom that’s because the Switch offers that in game, it’s the fact that PS4 and Xbox One “missed it”, it’s because they don’t have built in useless motion controls. Plus Xbox One and PS4 has mods and the weak Switch doesn’t and that’s a big factor.

As much as I like The Witcher 3, i have to agree. Role-playing a new character in Skyrim is a glorious experience. I've been a sneaky Bosmer ranger assassin, a tough Nord warrior, a powerful Altmer wizard, a cunning Redguard summoner and an all-powerful Khajit god who didn't give a fuck.
This notion of "role playing" in Skyrim is simply ridiculous, lol What is the role? You are always the chosen one in every Elders Scrolls. How do you play on a gameplay perspective is not literally "role playing". You are just a empty shell, the chosen one destined to save the world with no personality. The narrative is always the same, the dialogues barely change, etc.. I always feel pity when I see bethesda fans (also dark souls fans) talking about rpgs, lol You people have no idea what a rpg truly is.

You can play the game anyway you want to and It would be viable, how the fuck are you not playing a role? You're merely watching as the story unfolds. While in TES games, you can play that chaotic good, or that lawful evil type that fits right at home in the dark brother hood. so glad to see they got this port right, as someone who put 400 hours into skyrim on PC with tons of graphic mods, the idea of lying in bed and playing skyrim is VERY appealing.

3:40 ugh, that just reminded me of how bad the audio is in Fallout 4. Sounds don't get muffled or distant no matter how far away you are, so can't tell where enemies are in relation to you, and you'll be able to perfectly hear someone talking even if they're two floors above you. Why is it that Bethesda could get the audio right in 2011 but not in 2015?

I have an Xbox One S, and I haven't played it on this but now I might just get it at some point in the future ! I had it on the 360 but never got around to playing it because I had other games I was playing at the time, then I had to sell it coz needed the money. But I would definitely like to try it on One at some point in the future. I would say playing it on the X would bring some improvements as well ! You know your voice sounds a little bit like the soldiers from Oblivion ! You know when you are cajoling the soldiers with your speech, and he goes, "That's AMAZING !!" . In this review you said "AMAZING" just like that soldier did, and "That's AMAZING!!! "

I was already sold on getting Switch eventually to play Mario Odyssey and Mario + Rabbids Kingdom Battle, but now with Skyrim on Switch being reviewed so positively, that's just making a stronger case for me to get the new Nintendo system sooner than eventually.
At this point, Skyrim has been released for almost every system out there. I'm surprised that there isn't a mobile version yet or even a toaster oven version or a coffee maker version, which would be very interesting to say the least. Lol! As well as Skyrim plays on the Switch I don't think that I'll pick it up, especially considering that I already have the PS3 and PC versions. As someone who likes Skyrim, I have to admit that its been a while since I've played the game. However, I do plan on going back and playing it soon. As a whole, the game itself is really fun to play and its massive with lots of stuff to do. However, it is also buggy and glitchy and it doesn't exactly have the best combat, especially when it comes to using the sword. Magic attacks fare a bit better (fire, ice, etc). Yup... me to. I wish Skyrim was released a couple of months Earlier before Xenoblades -_- cause I never played skyrim, I WANT to play Skyrim...but I'm just slightly more interested in Xenoblades. IMO, these 2 games are too similar to get Both so close together.

I've been tempted to get this a few times but the price hasn't really budged for one and that'd be less of an issue of they had ever made some effort to fix bugs the game launched with. Some of them game breaking. I'm just not confident in paying a ton of cash for a game where it can just bork itself and I'm having to restart because Bethesda was too busy doing a quick remaster, a VR port but with no fixes.
Happy to hear it's running so well on the Switch. Never finished the game when it first came out, but the idea of taking this world on train journeys is really enticing. Cheers for the great review, man!

Great review, as someone who has bought Skyrim for pretty much every system I can get my hands on, I just have one question, is it worth getting the Switch for mainly this? I'd eventually find my way to buying other games like Zelda but for a time being (since I'm broke) it'd just be Skyrim
An awesome review! Having Skyrim on the PC and only playing it for about an hour, maybe I'll try this one. But I'm really excited for the possibility of having Fallout on the Switch. I just hope they do a good port like this one.
Since it doesn't support mods, I wish they would've at least included some "official" mods that address the issues that mods fixed, such as a redone perk system, destruction magic damage scaling with skill level, a better interface, more spells, shout cooldowns, equipment loadouts, etc. It would've been neat to be able to tailor at least each playthrough with settings that can be changed (during gameplay when possible without corrupting the save) from visual settings to how combat works. I'm hoping that they at LEAST consider these mods when making TES6 (if they ever get around to that) to make improvements over Skyrim. Also little things like knowing whether or not a given resurrection spell will work on a target and a vanilla option to respec characters.
I'm curious how it feels to play 1st person handheld. Is it nauseating with the FOV and having to move the camera around?? Also I heard the foliage density isn't as great as other versions, particularly talking about forested areas??

First! I put 1600 hours into Skyrim on PC and can't wait to try it on the switch. I use public transport sometimes for 8 hours so having a Switch with Skyrim will definitely help kill the boredom on long journeys. Can't wait until I get a Switch and Skyrim!

ACG proly the assets are ran at an even lower res so they look 720p or worse anyways...least this was the case for doom
then they are wrong. Even DF worked it to 900p and 720p. Next time you should think first

I've had my sights set on this game since the day it was announced for the Switch, and believe you me, despite my decision to purchase the game already being rock solid, after watching your review, that notion went beyond rock solid...I'd say it's more like "diamond hardness", if that makes any sense. XD

Thanks friend! I'm getting my copy today to start my 3rd playthrough! I do hope they port over FO3 and NV as well.
I've been tempted to get this a few times but the price hasn't really budged for one and that'd be less of an issue of they had ever made some effort to fix bugs the game launched with. Some of them game breaking. I'm just not confident in paying a ton of cash for a game where it can just bork itself and I'm having to restart because Bethesda was too busy doing a quick remaster, a VR port but with no fixes.
I can't wait to see your 50 other reviews of this in the future.

Great review, as someone who has bought Skyrim for pretty much every system I can get my hands on, I just have one question, is it worth getting the Switch for mainly this? I'd eventually find my way to buying other games like Zelda but for a time being (since I'm broke) it'd just be Skyrim

An awesome review! Having Skyrim on the PC and only playing it for about an hour, maybe I'll try this one. But I'm really excited for the possibility of having Fallout on the Switch. I just hope they do a good port like this one.
Since it doesn't support mods, I wish they would've at least included some "official" mods that address the issues that mods fixed, such as a redone perk system, destruction magic damage scaling with skill level, a better interface, more spells, shout cooldowns, equipment loadouts, etc. It would've been neat to be able to tailor at least each playthrough with settings that can be changed (during gameplay when possible without corrupting the save) from visual settings to how combat works. I'm hoping that they at LEAST consider these mods when making TES6 (if they ever get around to that) to make improvements over Skyrim. Also little things like knowing whether or not a given resurrection spell will work on a target and a vanilla option to respec characters.

I'm curious how it feels to play 1st person handheld. Is it nauseating with the FOV and having to move the camera around?? Also I heard the foliage density isn't as great as other versions, particularly talking about forested areas??
How is the UI scaling on the portable?

First! I put 1600 hours into Skyrim on PC and can't wait to try it on the switch. I use public transport sometimes for 8 hours so having a Switch with Skyrim will definitely help kill the boredom on long journeys. Can't wait until I get a Switch and Skyrim!
