Your tutorial is done beautifully. Not only do you give a lot of information such as basics for beginners, but you also remind us of how important color theory is from the beginner to the experienced

Hi! Thank you so much! From cover to cover I have only seen book from Dani Ives about 2d needle felting, it's a nice introduction in the media itself, covering multiple types of projects.
If you are more interested in landscape or animal pictures then I haven't found anything specific yet myself.
But I am slowly putting together video series for TH-cam and possibly a book myself ☀️

Definitely more snowy landscape videos with trees in different styles. I've struggled so much with pine trees of all types either looking too formed or too much like a blob. The way you went back over the trees with the core wool and bright white really helped me to make them look natural. Thanks!

Really enjoyed watching your process. I like that you left all the layering details, even when you struggled a bit. I love a process video, but too often creators take out big chunks to keep their videos shorter. But then as a beginner I miss out on the struggles and ultimate solutions. It also shows me that it’s not “just me,” and it really is a process. So thank you for not worrying about the length in exchange for the teaching moments. You inspired me to want to go back to some 2D felting. It’s been a minute since I created in that format. ❤

Your comment truly made my day! ⭐ I remember struggling with the same feelings when I started.. but with every year I spend felting, I discover again and again that needle felting is the most forgiving art form. Just as you said - it's a process. ❤️
Thank you and I hope you truly enjoy your 2D endeavors ❤️

Thank you for sharing such beautiful knowledge, especially the choices of colour and the changes you made as you went along. Your taste in colours is exquisite. I loved the video, my only suggestion would be if you could zoom in closer to better see how your detailing works. I couldn't see very well when you were putting in the branches on the trees and how you were applying the snow to get that uneven edge on the outline of the trees...mine turned out more animated and id like to get a more realistic look like yours.

I am wanting to try this felting and have been watching different videos. They say do not use the needles on a slant it can break them. I see you are using then that way. I just want to do things the right way. Thank you for sharing how to do this. I ordered the clover felting tool and it came with fine needles in it. How do you know which needle size to use. I was videos they used big needles.

    • @MrsCuteFelts
      @MrsCuteFelts  3 หลายเดือนก่อน

      Hi Donna,
Thank you for yhe question, very valuable one!
There is a wisdom in what other felters are saying but also a little bit of nuance. Let's explore together!
Needle will break if you try to change the direction during the stabbing. That is why for the beginners, while you are still learning the motion not allowing any slope is very wise advice.
The secret how to not break your needle is to go in and out in the exact same direction, keeping you stabs straigt. I go in and come out at the same angle, both when I am felting straight up and dowm or using 45 degree angle.
For a beginner it's easier to use the straight up and down motion, keeping your needle at 90degree to your work and be very intentional about it. And keep it slow!
Do not twist the needle or go from this 90 degree angle to anything else while your needle is in the fabric, or you will definitely break it.
I was felting very slowly and up and down only in this 90degree angle for a long time. Now keeping stabs straight is second nature to me so I can change the agle, but still go straight in and out. And you will notice that I go in one angle for a moment then change it if needed and keep poking in this new direction for a while, not trying to change it with every poke.
Another comment about tutorials - to film the tutorial my camera needs to be above my work, so you can see everything in detail and thus I have to use needle on a slant, or you would not be able to see what I am doing, my hand would be in the way. When I am not filming I often felt in 90 degree angle.
Hope this helps! I think I need to create seperate video explaining how to work with needle in detail to get everyone on the same page.
      Happy felting!

@@MrsCuteFelts Thank you for the info, you were helpful. I am waiting for needles might be a little bigger and for the wool so I can try this. I did get a wool mat. But then I hear should use the foam ones. I love your picture.

Thank you! Excited for you! 😍
When it comes to the mat, then there isn't right or wrong. It's just what's easier for you and it's a combination of the way you like to stab, the fabric, needles and the mat. All play a role in your preference.
I am a light stabber and for me foam or brush mats work the best for felted pictures - my hands do not get tired so quickly as these mats create less resistance than wool mat.
But it doesn't mean that it's not possible or that it's wrong to use wool mat. Not at all! Many love and prefer it over my favorites.
You will expand your tool collection and experiment over time with different options yourself. I would stick with what I have for now and if it feels like my hands are hurting or I just don't like it, then I would look for alternatives.
