I cannot find " TELELPHONE " category on my idrive menu. I own 520d f10 2011 version. How can I bluetooth connect my android phone to my bmw idrive ? please help. I repeat once again. I do not have telephone menu popping up on the top MENU while everything else does show up such as CD/Multimedia, RADIO, NAVIGATION and etc.
Hi, I've done exactly what you'd said above but my car is telling me I need to add the I'd code & a round wheel with numbers comes up, I added the numbers after the letters it showed up on my iPhone but this wasn't it, do you have any idea as to what this could be or how I'd find this out ? I paired my wife's phone under her profile, then I made another profile and paired my phone. But all the contacts are mixed together no matter what profile? Is this normal? I would of thought the profiles would separate the contacts?

Miranda Serdari if your phone is paired to the car your audio from the phone will go thru the car. If you select your phone as the audio source (Multimedia>External Devices>select your phone) audio should play through the car. This is based on most newer model BMWs
Tammy Wilson it depends on your equipment on the vehicle. Vehicles equipped with "enhanced Bluetooth and USB" will allow for two phones to connect simultaneously. Otherwise, only the last connected phone will pair in the car

+ClaudiaAdam Make sure after you delete the device from the car, that you also delete the car from the device. After you do both, then try to repair with the vehicle. Also check the software of the phone for any updates, this can help to alleviate some Bluetooth issues as well. Something I do that helps me start to diagnose issues is by pairing different devices too, preferably different operating systems. For example, if someone is having problems connecting their iPhone to the car I'll try to connect an Android device to see if there is any issue. If the Android does connect with proper functionality, something likely to do with the original iPhone not the car. If the Android has issues as well, I would start to look at the car more closely for issues. You may not have access to different devices, but if you do its a nice starting point if you are having issues with connectivity.
thank you for answering! i did try to reconnect both android and iphone devices the car's screen keeps on showing "connecting..." and after a few minutes it would stop saying that it was not able to make the connection. funny thing is that the phones actually connect to the car (i am able to make/recieve calls) but the phones aren't saved in the car's memory...
Try calling the 844-4-GENIUS hotline. They will likely ask for your last seven of the VIN# and might have an idea of a solution. Or if you have a local dealership nearby see if they have a Genius available to assist, they won't charge you any fees for helping out. If they can't help and still believe it is the car having issue, then you'll probably may need to get service involved
The device name is changed in the settings of your phone. For iPhone go to Settings>General>About>Device name. For Android, go to Settings>About Phone>Phone Name. If your phone was paired to the car the before changing the device name, it won't reflect on the iDrive until the next time the vehicle fully shuts down (and actually reboots the iDrive) or if you switch bluetooth off then back on in order to refresh the new changes made to the device name
If your vehicle is equipped with Nav it's very possible. When you go into the "Multimedia" menu, if it states "CD/DVD" as the top item then you can watch DVDs. It is setup to ONLY play while the car is parked though.

Nowhere anywhere am I aware of where this mystical passcode is in order for me to try and connect my phone. All other vehicle brands I have owned in the past have not had a problem in connecting my Nokia 6310i, which is a proper business phone. But as soon as I try to connect it to BMW 435d, it is not having it and no one knows how the F to connect it, because it is asking for this passcode that is nowhere to be seen. 1/10 for BMW bluetooth. The worst in the industry as far as I am concerned and a massive let down on the entire brand if you can only connect the latest phones. Might want to sort that out BMW, because Jaguar, Landrover, Audi all the other brands will connect any phone to bluetooth. Not all of us want the latest phone. Some of us are proper business people that use the older style button Nokias because they are as good as a business cellphone can get. So all this yabbering on your video is common sense how to connect a smartphone, I know that, most know that it is not exactly difficult. For the passcode on a 4 series, you should be able to use any numbers you wish. I usually will do 1234 or 0000. Just make sure to enter the same passcode in the phone after you enter it in the vehicle. This is done to ensure that not any random phone with Bluetooth turned on pairs to the vehicle. Although we don't offer the 435d here in the US, I'm fairly certain the pairing of Bluetooth is the same.
It will never connect a Nokia 6310i mate. I have a Jaguar XJ now anyway, which does work with my phone. Really nice motors BMW 435d, but I am afraid they made the i-drive and its communication system a bit to technical to use. It is not user-friendly and really annoys me that BMW have this system that is not user-friendly at all. Jaguar Xj though, is in a completely different league to the BMW 435d as well. It may not be as quick off the mark, but people admire it 100x more than any BMW because we hardly see any XJ Jaguars on the roads. So I had that 435d for not long, and got rid of all because of it's terrible prof media system. I had a 64-plate 335d M-Sport that did not have this issue, so this new issue is because they have updated the prof media. But what they also did was obviously make it harder to connect older proper phones, like the Nokia 6310i, which is a proper high end business phone that people who have iphones and such can only dream of. I use a phone for business, not as a Facebook tool, hence the old business phone. It works. 8/10 for BMW 435d drive and looks, but unfortunately only a 2/10 for it's too technical to use Prof Media system which is not like the Prof Media system I had in my 335d which worked and was simple to use. Please stop updating things to make them more technical. I'm not familiar with any differences when pairing with Bluetooth 5.0. I believe only the Samsung galaxy 8 has that feature, but if you know of any changes in the pairing steps I'm curious to know about them

You mentioned that you deleted the device from the car. Did you delete the car from your phone before restarting the pairing process?

laaouini zaid I'm not aware of any current retrofits available at this time. There are some aftermarket solutions available though

Not sure what you mean by pen drive but if it doesn't have navigation, it won't have the ability to play DVDs unfortunately
