A lot of these issues are due to the mcrib not being prepared correctly. It supposed to stay in the holding cabinet in a tray that covers it in sauce. A lot of them aren't covering it in said sauce because it's messy, and because of pure laziness by staff. Your mcrib shouldn't have been that lacking of sauce. Another reason has to do with giving mcrib that has been sitting. They have a 15 min shelf life and many don't follow that.
Yeah,it’s pretty obvious it all comes down to preparation. Or lack of good preparation and lack of good employees.

I cannot think of a single one of their menu items that has stayed the same or gotten better in the last few years. Every six months or so we eat there out of curiosity. It's sad what that brand has become. It's no more than a drive-in, disconnect from anything McDonalds once was, it has become a faceless Automat from Berlin in from 1895. "Eat and leave. Don't linger in the dining room... when we have it open."

I used to work for mcd when the mc rib first came out. Back then they used to marinate the patty in the sauce. Now i think they just pour the sauce over it. Probably a big taste difference.

McDonald’s never actually wanted to make the McRib, it was developed because of a chicken shortage, and only brought back because of popular demand. McDonald’s has tried many times to throw the McRib into the dust, however the lust for the McRib runs deep within many, and the fans will not let it die. Ronald himself has devised a plan to continuously degrade the quality of McRib sauce and pork by a small amount each year, slowly weening the McRib fandom off of their beloved barbecue.
Well… it Worked!😭💀 as good as it was in the 80’s even 90’s, thank goodness it will never resurface again in this decade😂

Me too. I'm literally learning as he is eating. He's so attentive, inspective, and meticulous in his review. It makes you feel that if this man says something is good or isn't good, it isn't just his opinion - it's fact!
Brah has a lot of processing power. You can see the mental cogs ticking over as he analyses the flavour and texture of the crucial first bite, but even as he's doing that he is also carefully examining the Item Under Review to decide the location of the next sample. Highly efficient and frankly very impressive.
The first time I tried the McRib 20+ years ago, I thought it was made of beef, it was sooo good!! Every year I’d go chasing that same sandwich & gave up due to the disgusting sandwich it’s turned into. Like biting into a pork flavored sponge, just gross!! Love the suit!!❤
It used to be from pork shoulder which was alright. Maybe it still is, idk, but it seems like a completely different kind of pork. Its gross and the texture tells me its like 80% water.

I get that US joints are bad at preparing that particular sandwich, but if you can't taste that this is pork, you've got a serious medical issue you should get looked at
Also: why on earth would you ever think it was made from beef, it never did taste like it and why freaking would it when it so clearly is pork.
I always feel like I’m in church while I’m watching these reviews and he’s giving a really in-depth lesson. I love these reviews, they are so thorough and have helped me avoid checking out some of these items that aren’t quality.
My late wife loved the Mcrib. Because of that since she passed I have eaten one every year in her memory. After last year i agreed with your review. It had almost no sauce and no flavor. I could not finish it and threw most of it away. I noticed the farewell tour this year and was debating if I was going to try it one more time. Now I doubt I will.
My gran loved that sandwich too, I always think about her when I hear an AD or mention of it. She was not a fan of the more recent returns of it either. Goddamn lmao

The McRib is a sad story. When it first came out, it was tasty enough. Everybody I knew thought it was good enough to be on the permanent menu. At some point between the late 80's/early 90's and the early aughts they changed something. It hasn't been good since.
This is exactly what I was thinking. I forget when I first had it but I too thought "huh not too bad." But in recent history, within the past few years, I had it again and I threw out half the sandwich, it was just inedible. Last year a friend ordered the combo and it was nearly $10.... what a ripoff.

As of right now, every McDonald's location has pulled the McRib off of their menu and closed permanently.
Anyone that is wondering, the McRib patty is heated on the grill, transferred to a lexon that has cookies bbq sauce and then it sits for 3 1/2 minutes holding, they make six at a time, so as not to have much waste, I worked at a flagship location Mcds, the patty itself is chicken,beef,pork, ribmeat, preshaped not bad really, the lack of proper product presentation makes or breaks this particular sandwich, I seriously doubt this is the last time we see it, Liked your vid

Love your reviews! Have you ever performed or thought of performing a review of a sandwich from 3 different establishments? For example buy 3 mc ribs from 3 different locations and see how they compare between each McDonald location? That could be interesting!

I have to completely agree! It seems that they are tinkering with it every year. My guess, the original suppliers are no longer around, or they changed them for a better price point. But yes, the sauce is very runny where it wasn't in the past. Last year, they even CHARGED EXTRA if you wanted more sauce. This year, they are adding it free, but it is just water. The texture of the patty changed this year too. I tend to miss the McRib when it's gone and try to create my own by buying various fake mcrib frozen patties. This year, the REAL MCRIB tastes like one of those copy cat McRibs, so that is where I speculate the original supplier is no more.
Yes, many food processing plants have mysteriously burned to the ground. Their supplier may have been one of them.

The particular sauce and flavor nuances of this review are exactly what my wife and I felt about the McRib this past week. We hadn't tasted it in over ten years so there was some doubt, but now with reviewbrah's confirmation I can rest assured.
They have been doing farewell tours for at least 25 years and most farewell tours just end up meaning it's not coming back the following year, but they will skip a year before they have the 'back by demand' tour.
I tried one about a week or so ago, and yes it will most definitely be my last one EVER. The bread was tough and stuck to the bottom of the container which literally ripped the bottom bun in half. The pork patty was cold, and the onions were slightly gummy. I'm glad they're getting rid of it, the sauce was it's only saving grace.

I've often questioned *why* I got so psyched whenever the McRib was back, only to be treated to a mediocre to downright nasty sandwich. It's probably simple nostalgia. However, I ate a McRib yesterday and it was much better then any of the McRibs I've had in the past 5-10 years.
last time I ate McD's last year and was disappointed on how expensive and gross it was.
Not everyday you see a wing collar or a high collar shirt anymore. Very nice. I have a few, but I really only reserve them for black tie and white tie. Most of the time for me it’s a spearpoint collar, sometimes with a collar bar or collar pin. My style hovers in the 1930s and 1940s era.

I agree that the barbecue sauce now is runny. They were best in the past versions . They need a better sauce, they keep changing the recipes. Maybe if they put Sweet Baby Ray's on it or something else good they could sell them year round
I thought the McRib from my local McDonald's this year was better than last year's. The sauce was thick and plentiful, and the pork flavor really came through, but I agree with your assessment that the pickles are somewhat lacking in tang. Last year's McRib had a very thin sauce as you mentioned in your review.

If it's anything like the KISS Farewell Tour it'll be back next year, and the year after, and the year after that.
If I had to guess, they have hit the threshold of the law of diminishing returns on the McRib as it exists today. It will return triumphantly after being reformulated next year to much fanfare. And this explains why the current version goes out with a whimper. It perfectly sets the stage for the reintroduction of an improved version. But as best as I can recall, I’ve never had one because the concept itself gives me the tummy rumbles.
We all look forward to these types of food reviews on this channel. They’re giving us the entertainment we didn’t know we actually need in our lives. It proves the fact that fast food doesn’t always live up to our expectations.
Hi from Casa Grande, Arizona, I was happy to hear that the mcrib was coming back. When I got my meal I was disappointed that the barbecue sauce was painted on with a small paint brush, one pickle and one piece of onion, if this is a farewell tour then take the cook with it, because it sucked
i've had probably 6 mcribs this time and I wanted my perception to be wrong but I totally agreed with what you said. it almost felt like eating a piece of rubber, the sauce saved it for me but just barely

It's fairly decent it just seems like the sauce isn't like it used to be years ago. I always love getting it with no onions and add lettuce. The pickles on it make it perfect.

Mcds only brings the mcrib out when the pork prices bottom out for the year. That's why you can look at the pork trends and figure out when its coming out. The whole farewell thing is to drive up interest and urgency.
Also you can get 6 better "mcribs" for less money than 2 real ones, if you just get the ingredients and make them yourself.
I have never had a McRib until last week. I figured I'd better try one since it is going to be gone forever, at least until next year. Frankly, I got more joy out of saying "I've never had a McRib" than I got of of having a McRib. I imagine if I had eaten the box it would have tasted the same.

Take a hotdog, put barbacue sauce, onion, and pickle on it, and boom mcrib. Thats essentially what it is.

I used to love McRibs when I was a kid in the 80s. I ordered one last October and vomitted it out in the parking lot of McDonalds. Meds that I take aggravated the upset stomach, but still it wasn't pleasant thing to eat. What a waste of $5.
I'm 60 plus years old and I can tell you the McRibs used to be strangely slimy very overly juicy almost and the sauce would linger on the palate.
The McRib patties have firmed up because of people's comments about how watery and slimy they were but in the process the sauce has become blandish.
