I think part of why Yvette is so inspiring is because she's very self-aware about what experiences inform her songwriting and playing. So many excellent players don't know how to verbally communicate very well. She's a very holistically expressive artist.

This is a significant interview with a significant artist. Lee's delight connecting with the thoughtful, articulate, present, and clearly genius Young reminds me a lot of Dick Cavett's conversations with people of that caliber in his day - friendly, playful, striving to let the interviewee tell the most and the best of themselves. Yvette Young now has my attention and my profound respect, as does Lee.

There’s no easy resolution to the work it takes to be professional classical musician and the wrecking of a childhood. It’s the same in gymnastics and countless other time sensitive pursuits. I am so glad that Yvette was able to survive and thrive. Her music and musicianship inspire me to no end.
Interesting that she had a similar thought on being able to write and performed songs without pedals, as Mario from CHON said something similar about learning to play really well before plugging into anything beyond an amp.

I never heard of Yvette Young before this interview. Lee, great job interviewing her. She is a fascinating musician and person. Because of her broad, musical experience, she has a interesting perspective and is able to articulate her so well (both verbally and musically on the instrument). Cheers!

Hey that first bit is so great. I was studying Classical Saxophone and Jazz Saxophone in Germany until 2 years ago and the same stuff happend to me! I was really put under so much pressure from my family, that put me almost in a state of self harm. I was fortunate enough to just make the cut and seek help and spend almost a year in a mental health clinic. Music is beautiful, but when it gets forced everything changes. Glad to hear another similar story

By far my favorite interview thus far, and I love the interviews on this channel. I keep rewatching and learning something new each time. Yvette's soundscapes are far and away the most encapsulating and emotive of any modern-day composer that I can think of.

Wow, Yvette is incredible! A genius. Watching her makes me feel both inspired and regretful for the years I wasn't playing or advancing. But back to her, what a cool person. She has a delightful personality and I enjoy her perspective on music and guitar playing.

Wonderful interview. I ran into Yvette's music at the end of a "guitarists you should know" video. After 'x' number of shredders I was getting ear fatigue and then on comes this melodic, full, complex, interesting music. Thank you.

Lee, this was one of your best interviews and one of your most interesting guests. I learned things I didn't know about Yvette Young even after watching many interviews with her. This was a wonderfully genuine and engaging interview of a truly facsinating new artist overflowing with talent. I'll definitely get my daughter to watch as well. Great job! Thank you.
