In dramatic fashion the Chargers woke up in the 2nd half of the TNF game to keep their season alive. What stands out to me the most about this offense is they are creating fits for the defense through alignment. Almost every play features a reload or a motion. This is also a team that uses a wide variety of personnel groupings. The Chargers use their TEs/FBs like extra OLineman which is a Greg Roman speciality. While also having 2 TEs who are designated pass catchers this is difficult for opposing defenses. The broncos stayed in their base 3-4 defense a good amount this drive to due to this, which is rare in a league that is moving away from base defense and playing primary in nickel and dime sets. Harbaugh has brought back an old school vibe to the Chargers who are looking to grind out games. Justin Herbert has also stepped up to the plate when asked which is major, even playing through an ankle injury it was clear he was the leader and the boys rallied around him and made plays. Chargers have a strong set of playmakers, McConkey is special. The hunt for the playoffs continues.
@@LegitJonex Absolutely. As a Chiefs fan, Broncos and Chargers have both positioned themselves pretty well. Some smart back office play by either could make them contenders. AFC West is gonna get real interesting if they can manage their talent. Love your content. Hope your channel blows up like it deserves.
Charger fan since 1980. I have the VHS tapes to prove it when I record them when I was a kid. 😂 This is such a great analysis. There a few things I learned. Great work!
The mean stiff arm/hand to the face was not going on before the Broncos player grabbed onto Herberts collar. You're really underestimating how big and strong Herbert is.
Matlock #44 is a FB/DL for the Chargers, but they use him in a lot of different ways. I wouldn't call him a TE even if he lines up on the line. Great breakdown.
4:36 dude ball carriers stiff arm like this every sunday. I dont think its an illegal move for a ball carrier, or if it is i havent seen it called. I have seen illegal hands to the face for blockers and pass rushers though.
Usually a stiff arm pushes someone away not presses under the face mask and raises the face mask. I said illegal hands to the face but I think it would be a face mask penalty if called on the runner. I’m not surprised it wasn’t called on Herbert there but just making a point to argue for defense playing devils advocate, the defender will get called for his penalty 100% of the time tho.
Herbert has been awake. It’s the offensive play calling that’s catching up. Herbert in both 2021 and 2022 was a 5,000 yard passer, with 9 and 10 wins respectively. But he’s all the Chargers had. They had a top 5 passing attack and a 30th place running game. Their defense was 20th against the pass and 30th against the run. A classic case of the QB can’t do it all. This year they are more balanced. With fewer offensive weapons and Herbert playing kinda hurt much of the time, their passing and rushing offense are both at about 20th, while the defense is 12th against the pass and 16th against the the run. A stouter defense can be better trusted in the playoffs.
8:45 "As a Def. Lineman you have to feel this." - Easier said then done. These are large proud men and they would like to think the got over on the block and just beat him and now have a free run." Every once in a while, they do beat the O-Lineman and get a free run, so they think this is it, I beat him, blew right by him and now I'm going to get my sack, maybe sack-fumble and win the game right here. What if they did just beat the block and had a free run, but then hesitated because it seemed to easy? Now they blew it and do not get the sack or fumble or tackle for a loss. You are right but put yourself in their shoes. They have been waiting for the chance to get by this guy. They have gotten by every once in a while, and this is just another one of those. This is why screen passes are so successful. They are great at getting decent yards and then they play in the DL head the rest of the game. Anytime they do get by the blocker they will second guess it and that extra second is all the QB needs.
That’s the thing I’ve been in their shoes. When it’s too easy something is up! Your antennas have to go off. This is something that is practiced and preached weekly. That’s why the game is a chess match. The DLine knows it’s going to come at some point in the game and the offense is banking on them being tired and taking the bait.
Chargers have one of the best Tackle random in the whole league. Their interior OL is below average, one of the worst. Expect Jim Harbaugh to fix this in the off season.
Dude, you take about 30 minutes to cover the 2 pt play. It wasn't all that complicated and you need to learn an expression: "Hindsight is always 20/20". Sure, if 55 had contacted 15 it MAY have affected the route, as if 55 knew what the route was. How does he know 15 isn't going left. How does he know that the time to chuck 15 doesn't cost him valuable time he may need to get somewhere else to make a play? You have the blessing of knowing the result, they are trying to figure it out and do not know that 15 will be turning back to the right. If 15 was going left (like it looked like he was) 55 would have had to take a big step, step and a half to that side and then that may be too late, may be illegal contact if it's 5 yards. They were at the 3, 55 is in the endzone and not doing math on how many yards he is in the endzone, it happens to be 4 yards and would be legal, but refs make mistakes, maybe it's 5, he doesn't know and doesn't want to give them another free chance even closer in. You make it sound so easy, why are you not playing or coaching? Because ANYONE can play "Monday Morning QB."
He played the play incorrectly this isn’t a “Monday Morning QB” type of situation. Not only did he not get hands on 15 but he ran out the zone chasing a WR. Notice how he ran past the DB. Number one rule in zone is don’t chase, you have to pass routes to the next zone. Defense has rules. I played in the league that how I know this. I didn’t just wake up and start making stuff up bro lol. Thanks for watching 🫡
The amount of Bronco's fans I see attributing the refs to their loss - Bronco's lost because Chargers punched harder. Both teams had a half of football dominance, a better QB and a better coach was the difference.

Chargers would be legit scary if they would have managed to keep some weapons during the off season. Harbaugh gave a lot of new life to that team.
@abnego9676 I agree they are a few pieces away from being a really well built team. I like their play style, it can be dominate with some upgrades

Joshua Palmer been making some incredible catches over the years. This one might just be his best.
Unbelievable concentration and awareness to catch and then get feet down.

I am a chargers fan for twenty years from roselle Park, mjj , go Chargers.
Such a good football breakdown.

Great analysis! Btw 44 (Matlock) plays FB/DL
I’m in. Great analysis.

Yeah you know what youre talking about. Good shit.
Yessir, I appreciate that!
17:23 Mcconkey is a baller; he reminds me of Julian Edelman fr

Noted. Thanks for watching 🤝
" He's out THERE running around CONES"😂😂
Running around the backer like drill work 😂

44 is Scott Matlock who is a defensive linemen/fullback. he is very much NOT a tight end
The “hands to the face” by Herbert was a stiff arm, wasn’t it?
Chargers have one of the best Tackle random in the whole league. Their interior OL is below average, one of the worst. Expect Jim Harbaugh to fix this in the off season.
Very important spots but easier to find solid interior play than playmakers. I look forward to see how Harbaugh continues to shape the team.

Sorry but you're not stronger than 10, Coop
Refs just stopped calling penalties on the chargers that game😂 we all saw thursday prime. Its for the spreads and over unders
I think refs miss a lot of calls throughout the league but from human error not based on gambling
The amount of Bronco's fans I see attributing the refs to their loss - Bronco's lost because Chargers punched harder.

😭
