I'm David Hawkins , a son of Cornwall, I'm banished from my native shore . Condemned to sail acoss the briney ocean , to see my home and family no more . For 7 years I did toil in slavery , but now I am a free man . A wife and children and 50 acres, and we get by the best we can . Often times I feel a yearning for by home so far away , but what's the the use of reminiscing, for here I am and here I will stay .
Listening to this and thinking of my Dad with Father's Day tomorrow 🥺. The song could have been written for him its so true about him. I haven't lived in Cornwall since 1981. Didn't realise how much I miss it.
My dads side of the family is from Cornwall and I visited there and met my family and I want to live there some day. This song was played at my grandpa’s funeral and makes me cry every time I hear it. Has such a deep meaning for me personally
Brought memories of my father a proper cornish man from St Mawes paradise on earth god bless cornwall, miss the cornish accent so much my nan would always say alright my hansome
I'm a lad who grew up with my grandparents in Birmingham uk. My grandparents always were proud of our Cornish roots. I'm Cornish with love until I die. I love visiting mevaghissay where my family originated.
Coming from Hampshire, I had never heard this song until a Cornish friend introduced me to it. I love the choir, the rendition and the sentiment. A beautiful song, beautifully sung
The forth from the right does exactly look like my dad! If i wouldn't know he doesn't have a twinbrother i would say this man is my uncle, well maybe my dad has a secret life😂😅
Love the patronism of Cornwall, Scotland, Ireland, England and the land of my father's Wales....so why are we not fighting for our land instead of letting our government give it away to Muslims,...I honestly don't get it !
This always brings a tear and a smile, played this at my fathers funeral in February, a true cornish song for a true Cornish man.
I'm not Cornish, and that tune brings tears to my eyes.

No bass to speak of... No tenor. Sorry but not my experience of growing up with cornish male voice choirs. Good effort. 👍
Stop listening through your phone. I can hear the baritone and tenors just fine.
