I think you would it helpful if you first tinned you soldering iron. Makes the solder flow a lot quicker. Also, looks like you needed some solder wick to help remove the old solder. Thanks for the great heads up video. Cheers!
I think you are right and good memory, If memory serves me correctly I was able to slide the module into a type of retainer in the Vanagon behind the rear light. I did find that the wires were kind of tight that way so instead I just put a few rags down and the module lays on the rags. So far so good. Thanks for the comment.
16 Like great video good detail, your solder job is great, I use to solder circuit board back in early 1978 all day long. Fully watch full support my friend. Have a great day.. Until next time .. I be back...
Thanks so much, and you know it’s amazing how much you can save if you can do something like this. A rebuilt part is hundreds of dollars and this was all it needed. Thank you :)
The non secret is to use a solder sucker. They make various versions like a braided one that wicks it away and even a literal "sucker" style that acts like a plunger. Basically you heat each leg and draw that solder off one at a time. They sell them fairly cheap on places like eBay or amazon. If I could add pic Id show one. But look up "solder sucker"
Thanks for the comment and I now use one all the time. This was filmed before I was introduced to it. I have the squeeze ball style and the retractable pen style. I would like to splurge and get a vacuum one !!
Does anyone know what happened to NTE Inc? Their website is down, their phone number is no longer valid, and I can't find distributor that carries the NTE185 part. Thanks.
dude this worked like a charm !!!!!!! Never soldered before either!
That is awesome, and as you know these control modules are getting hard to find, so we have to repair them. Plus you saved some good $$$$ !!!
Some great graphics there! Another superb video. Learnt a great deal 👍🏽❤️
Thanks soo much, this was a good one where I was able to save a rare old part !!! You can't buy these old parts anymore.

Great video! Mine was fine but instead needed some joints reflowed and the large 56R 10% resistor replaced. Thanks!
Awesome you got it done, these are not available new anymore so we have to rebuild them. Thanks for the comment
I know you asked in a prior video, but there is a clip that the module is attached to. You might be missing it.

Thanks for the comment :)
hello 10 lik.e
Thank you !!
Secret is to heat the whole thing where you're working and the solder won't cool so fast that you cant remove multiple legs
Thanks for the reply and tip. I'm not an electronics repair person so when it comes to soldering I'm no pro. Appreciate the tip, thanks !!
