I’ve done something to the knee I had ACL surgery on 3 years ago. It’s very painful, unstable and is making horrible clicking noises so I know something isn’t right, but I have a feeling it’s my meniscus because it doesn’t feel the same as when I ruptured my ACL. These tests hurt, but reassured me it might not be too much of a bad tear if that’s what I’ve done… will wait to see what the doctor says.
What ended up happening? I also had acl surgery 3 years ago and yesterday I was playing football and was taking hard cuts. I didn’t feel sudden pain but I just noticed my knee started to feel weak so I chilled out. My knee hurt a little but today it was hurt a bit more and it swell up a little. The pain is on the interior and I’m hoping I didn’t tear anything because knee injuries scare the outta me after my acl. I tested if I could cut and jumping from knee to knee and and have full mobility. Nothing feels unstable or week but I was laying down for a while and when I was walking it felt pretty weird. I’m just icing it rn but I’m really scared I really hope I didn’t tear it.
I've complained about knee pain since I was five and I finally got diagnosed with a meniscus tear in my left knee at twenty five. I'm probably looking at surgery because it has been affecting my sleep as of recent

Yes it's very sad that I have what I think is a very bad meniscus injury and I cannot be seen by a Dr until November. So now I have to diagnose and self treat myself.
Thank you for the great information! I have a complete radial tear of the posterior horn of the medial meniscus junction with the posterior root with slight extrusion of the meniscus joint. This is info from my MRI. I was sprinting and heard a pop. It was awful! Happened right b4 Thanksgiving 2019 and was in therapy up until March when quarantine began. Was to have surgery in Feb. but was afraid of side effects, mainly onset of arthritis, which I don't have and doctor thought my range was too good for surgery, but said he would schedule it whenever I decide to move forward. Have had pain since the injury occurred. However, back of knee hurts terribly when leg is stretched straight out in front of me. Ex. sitting in recliner...so much pain occurs and I have to keep pillow under it, same occurs when in bed. I can do excercises, squats and workouts, but I have to modify things and I hurt daily. Should I have surgery or wait it out? You mentioned in first video on meniscus issues that if no locking is occurring probably don't have surgery bc knee will be the same. Please advise. Surgery or no surgery? Also, that mattress may help me with the pain I'm having with my knee. I also have a shoulder injury and I just watched one of your videos on possible injuries and I think it's the rotator or clavicle problem. I need that mattress and your advice on knee surgery. Thanks!
Well, I’m not our favorite physical therapists, but I can tell you about what caused the pain behind my knee, I had very bad pain and swelling so I saw the doctor. She ordered an ultrasound and discovered that I had what is called. Bakers cyst behind my knee. You can feel it behind your knee., along with the pain plus a sensation of pins and needles
I have been diagnosed wit a loose medial ligament to my right know. My doctor said not enough for surgery but that would be a last resort. Are there any exercises I can do to strengthen it

Light exercise helps along with heat packs along with elevation. I hope this helps you out.
Hello I think I got this at 21 in both knees also but mainly on the left. Does the swelling come from the middle of the joints ? Mine feels like there is a few small lumps
I can now bend and straighten my knee and the swelling went down. I can finally put weight on it...but there is no way I could do any of that. It will be at least another week until I can get an MRI. Er dic said I likely tore my miniscus and sprained my lcl.
my hip pain caused my leg to over compensate when I walk now my hip is pain free but my knee cant wait bare for a second without severe pain I dont know what I have done Do you have any advise to fix it please
Both of my knees were replaced back in 2011 due to arthritis. I fell 3 weeks ago and my left knee has a fist sized knot. I know I need to go to the doc, it's very painful, but I'm afraid of falling again so have avoided getting up and out.
Just recently started playing golf and disc golf.... my inner left knee( right side of my left knee) just ached or a muscle behind my left knee became pulled somehow waking me up 2 in the morning.... meaning I was asleep when I became aware of this pain...I played with it for awhile doesn’t seem extreme but I know that there’s a difference in the back of my left knee as of right now.. I’m only 20 years old. Any information that anyone might know plzzzzz let me know what should I do as well. Thank you very much.
Nice group of tests. No standing possible on that injured leg to try them out. No straightening without major pain. No balancing on pillows in bed without pain. Crutches to the bathroom is exhausting. MRI this afternoon. I hope they figure out something.. actual damage or arthritis flare.
Hello sir! You both are doing great job to heal people in a very light and naughty way! Thanks...my question is how long it takes to heal meniscus.i know that it depends on which stage but roughly 3 months? 2 years? Waiting for your answer sir...
I’m about to have knee arthroscopy due to ongoing and worsening pain, mri showed moderate arthritis and bone spurs with a cyst but no meniscus tear but I have all the symptoms, dr said sometimes it don’t show in MRI, are you familiar with this
I took a fall and I’ve been having the symptoms of this, I had a X-ray, now my dr is having me go to PT next is a MRI to see if this is the case, my PT have done pretty much all of what you showed and it made my knee hurt really bad, finally found a dr that believes me with what is going on. My last dr told me it was in my head smh 🤦🏽♀️
I HATE when doctors do that crap! WHY THE F##$ would we patients spend our hard earned money, waste time out of our day, AND even considering to GOING to a doctor if it was all in our head?!?!?! DO THEY REALLY THINK WE WANT to do all that for NOTHING?!?!?!
I went to a dr in my plan who told to to get a xray of my knee which will not show soft tissue injuries. Im in bed with ice pack and leg elevated. My motility is very limited. If thre pain gets better I'll try the exercises.
What if the case isn’t much of any pain. however, with all those Exercises you showed my knee would shake in fact on some days I’m able to move it but something would move in my knee area when I would sit down or bend it but I can move it around?
Thank you for this. Get my MRI Friday but I already know it is meniscus. Going to tell them no surgery, as this video has given me hope of playing basketball again. I pretty much have full range of motion, knee just gets tight when straightening/bending after long periods of inactivity.
Had meniscus surgery on my right knee this past Jan. Now I have problems with the left. Squatting is impossible. The benefit I had from surgery was I was able to sleep. Now the left knee aches like the devil at night. My knee won't tollerate being strait or being stretched. Just had an injection a few days ago. The shot did offer a bit of comfort at night, but boy oh boy that is an injection from hell.
One week after falling on ice and injuring my medial and lateral meniscus I did the exercise where he is laying down and bending his leg then laying it to the side, my knee popped and now the other side that didnt hurt before is now hurting.
What if only one of the self-tests caused slight pain/discomfort? It was the last self-test for me. I didn't feel any pain or discomfort with the other four. I've been doing the movements you talked about in this video for about 10 minutes now and it has somewhat gotten better... I haven't had my knee lock like tHis before. This one was out of nowhere and was (/is) painful lol I guess I should talk to my doctor?
Is it a catch preventing it from straightening and bending or is it due to swelling when determining this? My sis seems to be limited RoM due to swelling in the knee…
And if I feel pain stop the exercises but then what should I do? Been 6 weeks 3x a week to chiropractor/knee therapy ( lazer , decompression and rebuilder “tens” ) still swollen and stiff.
Doc says There is a radial tear at the anterior body of the lateral meniscus at the inner margin. Can someone please explain which zone my tear is and will it heal?
I think I might have this, I can stretch and everything fine but the only thing is that in that area it hurts sometimes when I walk in that area and I don’t know what I should do and i was hoping you could help me out on what I should do
Question I have a tear already but not lock yet. You say not surgery .I my knee is swallowed and painful I can’t bending run or ride bike .. what I can do?
I can run, lunge, box jump and squat but as soon as I get on my bike my knee starts to pain. I originally thought it was my ITB but it wasn't.... I'm lost but thanks for the videos B and B
Hello sir Sir I wanna tell about my knee problem.doctor were saying I have meniscus tear and in MRI report shows 2nd grade tear but they are not 100% sure about this! Can you suggest me anything? Any known in India? I am 27 year old wanna play for more year but I can play.i feel discomfort ,last time swelling lateral side of knee around the pattern!I got hurt in2014.so what will you suggest me to do?mostly pain in winter.
Idek if mine is a strain or a tear, after I felt it I didn’t hear anything but it felt like my knee twisted weird in my leg and then when I would extend out all the way it would hurt a lot, but now about 4 months later there is mild pain only real pain comes from squats and whatnot.
The question I have is Why? If it can’t repair what is causing the pain to go away. I know this works because I’ve gone through this before, but I think I tore it again and am wondering what is the mechanism that is “healing” this?
Could you please add more info about the leg that (slightly) feels that you can't fully extend? This is a symptom of torn meniscus and/or torn cruciate ligament? How can we make the differentiation? These tests were negative for me. Thanks
I have a torn maniscus and it wasnt locking up it felt vary stiff like it was not able to bend. It felt like it needed to pop. And one day afrer almost a half a year with it it poped.. With alot of pain but i was able to move it. But still a bit of pain so probably what happen was eather i had it over laping and the pop was it going in place are i completely tore it so. Im probably going into surgery in three months
Good video. And Bob/Brad can you do a video on McKinsey method lumbar strengthening/stretching ? I can’t go to PT right now but would like to do some home therapy.
Dislocated my rt knee 3xs doctors gave me different diagnosis I can move it but it locks and buckles feels like it’s bone to bone Shape pain i do all the work out also making changes in my life don’t know what else to do
I can do all your tests without pain, what causes me pain is if I’m laying in the hip adductor position and then bend my knee I feel pain from the weight of my leg torquing during bend articulation
My left knee hurts when i sleep on my side, no other pain in day. I work and walk, bike with no pain. if i sleep on my left side my knee will wake me up. did i injure myself?
Can this be a sign of a torn meniscus when I bend my leg I can’t bend it a lot and when I have it bending I can’t move my foot up and down at all I have no feeling in my foot or leg when I try but it hurts my knee the right side it hurts all day long
i like how they printed a sign instead of just putting graphics on the screen. So bob and brad of them.

Hopefully, you're feeling better soon
do the surgery they do it to me now I go back to sports
I get the locking and pain with my elbow. Is it possible to have the issue shown in this video but for your elbow?
Hello Bob and brad very interesting bcoz im suffering right now for miniscus tear pls pls help me if it's still necessary for surgery
I have been diagnosed wit a loose medial ligament to my right know. My doctor said not enough for surgery but that would be a last resort. Are there any exercises I can do to strengthen it
Oops spelling. With loose medial
Ligament to my right knee 😄
I’ve got tears in both knees. Thanks for the exercises
How is your knee now?
@@itsm3dud39 still no good. they wont operate until i can loose more weight or until i hit 50, so what ever comes first...lol
thank you for asking though
@@blueyegrl74 plz tell me how is the meniscus tear pain feels like...i mean does the pain comes and goes or its always there? How u feel at the morning when you Wake up is there any pain before putting some load on your knees?
@@offbeatslook2684 I’m in constant pain, not even cortisone injections helped. Wet weather I feel it the most, and sometimes in winter. There’s not much I can do at this point because they won’t operate until I loose more weight. Currently my knee cap dislocates and gets stuck until I can try move my knee joint. Light exercise helps along with heat packs along with elevation. I hope this helps you out.
Hello I think I got this at 21 in both knees also but mainly on the left. Does the swelling come from the middle of the joints ? Mine feels like there is a few small lumps
Excellent thanks for sharing 👍❤️😊
I can now bend and straighten my knee and the swelling went down. I can finally put weight on it...but there is no way I could do any of that. It will be at least another week until I can get an MRI.
Er dic said I likely tore my miniscus and sprained my lcl.
my hip pain caused my leg to over compensate when I walk now my hip is pain free but my knee cant wait bare for a second without severe pain I dont know what I have done Do you have any advise to fix it please
If you can do tik tok anyone can!
No but in all seriousness, I love you informative channel and I am an aspiring physical therapist.
Lol
Watching this video let’s me know I definitely have a torn a meniscus in my left knee 😭
Both of my knees were replaced back in 2011 due to arthritis. I fell 3 weeks ago and my left knee has a fist sized knot. I know I need to go to the doc, it's very painful, but I'm afraid of falling again so have avoided getting up and out.
maybe just wait and die or maybe call the ambulance?
Just recently started playing golf and disc golf.... my inner left knee( right side of my left knee) just ached or a muscle behind my left knee became pulled somehow waking me up 2 in the morning.... meaning I was asleep when I became aware of this pain...I played with it for awhile doesn’t seem extreme but I know that there’s a difference in the back of my left knee as of right now.. I’m only 20 years old. Any information that anyone might know plzzzzz let me know what should I do as well. Thank you very much.
Thank you very much
Is it possible to have meniscus tear and chondromallacia at the same time because I think i have syndromes of both
I think I would watch these guys explain anything
At my age.... everything hurts daily.....no matter what.
I don't need to do these to induce more pain...lol.
Had an issue with mine for a while now and I'm only 22, going into surgery in a week since it's always locking up, been like that for like 2 years.
Скажите пожалуйста как вы сейчас? Вылечились без операции? У меня такая проблема год хромаю не лучше не хуже
I’m about to have knee arthroscopy due to ongoing and worsening pain, mri showed moderate arthritis and bone spurs with a cyst but no meniscus tear but I have all the symptoms, dr said sometimes it don’t show in MRI, are you familiar with this
Very useful information thanks a lot
If it hurts that bad your best option would be to go to the doctor and they could tell you what’s happening, better safe than sorry.
Thanks for making this, much appreciated.
My pain is in my inner knee, I get a pocket of swelling :(
Thank you for this. Get my MRI Friday but I already know it is meniscus. Going to tell them no surgery, as this video has given me hope of playing basketball again. I pretty much have full range of motion, knee just gets tight when straightening/bending after long periods of inactivity.
Lol
How are you doing today?
@@Ebvardh Back to good as new, only took me around 3 months to recover and haven’t had a problem since.
@@jrdatrackstar Awesome, thanks for replying dude.
Could you please tell me about your recovery?
Had meniscus surgery on my right knee this past Jan. Now I have problems with the left. Squatting is impossible. The benefit I had from surgery was I was able to sleep. Now the left knee aches like the devil at night. My knee won't tollerate being strait or being stretched. Just had an injection a few days ago. The shot did offer a bit of comfort at night, but boy oh boy that is an injection from hell.
All of these tests you've shown would be painful with patellar tendon injury too or patellar tracking issue? How to differentiate then?
I have the same thing barely any pain after like two days of exercises and so who knows
How are you now?
Love your site! ❤❤❤
Doc says
There is a radial tear at the anterior body of the lateral meniscus at the inner margin.
Can someone please explain which zone my tear is and will it heal?
I think I might have this, I can stretch and everything fine but the only thing is that in that area it hurts sometimes when I walk in that area and I don’t know what I should do and i was hoping you could help me out on what I should do
Omg I'm the same as you
I was diagnosed with meniscus issues about three months ago, nothing is working and my job is making it so much worse!
How have you been doing lately?
Question I have a tear already but not lock yet. You say not surgery .I my knee is swallowed and painful I can’t bending run or ride bike .. what I can do?
I can run, lunge, box jump and squat but as soon as I get on my bike my knee starts to pain. I originally thought it was my ITB but it wasn't.... I'm lost but thanks for the videos B and B
with pain in the medial meniscus should I go to a physical therapist, a chiropractor, or an MD?
Hello sir
Sir I wanna tell about my knee problem.doctor were saying I have meniscus tear and in MRI report shows 2nd grade tear but they are not 100% sure about this! Can you suggest me anything? Any known in India? I am 27 year old wanna play for more year but I can play.i feel discomfort ,last time swelling lateral side of knee around the pattern!I got hurt in2014.so what will you suggest me to do?mostly pain in winter.
Thank you very much for all of your valuable information !!!!!!!
No
Thanks Still works. Right knee - geesh
Hi do you have sharp pain when fully extending the knee with a meniscus tear.
Idek if mine is a strain or a tear, after I felt it I didn’t hear anything but it felt like my knee twisted weird in my leg and then when I would extend out all the way it would hurt a lot, but now about 4 months later there is mild pain only real pain comes from squats and whatnot.
Thank you sooo much
The question I have is Why? If it can’t repair what is causing the pain to go away. I know this works because I’ve gone through this before, but I think I tore it again and am wondering what is the mechanism that is “healing” this?
I'm a physiotherapy student in Jamaica. Where have you guys been when I was doing my clinical rotations?
Your videos SOOO HELPFUL! I'm a single mom, I have to get back to work. 😱
Great video Thank you!
Dislocated my rt knee 3xs doctors gave me different diagnosis I can move it but it locks and buckles feels like it’s bone to bone
Shape pain i do all the work out also making changes in my life don’t know what else to do
I can do all your tests without pain, what causes me pain is if I’m laying in the hip adductor position and then bend my knee I feel pain from the weight of my leg torquing during bend articulation
My left knee hurts when i sleep on my side, no other pain in day. I work and walk, bike with no pain. if i sleep on my left side my knee will wake me up. did i injure myself?
Sir i really need your help... Pls help me with this when I did the second test which was to rotate the knee on 5 degree it hurted in my inner knee
The older I get the more often I come to this channel.
Can this be a sign of a torn meniscus when I bend my leg I can’t bend it a lot and when I have it bending I can’t move my foot up and down at all I have no feeling in my foot or leg when I try but it hurts my knee the right side it hurts all day long
