Dual compound with a softer edge would be nice. It's supposed to be more carvy but it's the total opposite. I guess then we might end up with lots of bent hubs. 😞
@@p0rtugeek People’s money is taking a journey out of their wallets. We could do with less “steps” and more tangible changes to make the customer experience tolerable. Or the company could go under, but that wouldn’t be my fault.
the problem with slick tire on XR was the penetration / perforation -- every single gravel or granite pebble has the potential to make another tiny hole into your tire. My XR slick tire after 2kkm started losing pressure with every ride, until I added some new slime into it. Which revealed how perforated the tire really was -- it had about 40-50 tiny slime pools all over the tire (yes, it did fix some of the losing pressure so rapidly problem, but now it's like permanently oozing the slime out of tire.). I assume you never have such problem with shredded tire.
So I ordered my GT last month, but it hasn’t been made or shipped yet. I ordered a treaded tire but now I’m thinking a slick would be better. Would I be able to change the tire I want before it’s made and shipped out?
I would choose the slick, if given the chance to choose again. The treaded tire has a rather high deformity rate and the traction gained is not all that much. I imagine the road riding quality would be improved as well.

Like im ever going to need it.. I have over 1700 miles on my GT with treaded, and there are no signs of wear. I reckon I'll need on at 3k, but at that point there are going to be way better tire options than this solid rubber brick.
Does treaded help for riding over thin patches of ice or snow? I commute in Chicago year round (except for when the ground is totally filled with snow) and have to avoid so many streets. would be cool to feel more secure going over bursts of ice or snow.
I live in WI, treaded tire on the XR really helps in the winter. Anyone have experience with both on the GT? What profile do you ride off-road? I’m a slick tire owner here with about 100 miles on the tire now. It has softened up and feels nice on road. But still wondering if I should switch to treaded for off-road when I take the board camping with me? 🤔 it is a little slippery at times. Maybe I should switch to lower torque profile first?
I've been riding the GT around town for a couple weeks now, and have the treaded tire fitted on purpose so that I can switch back and forth between terrains confidently. To me, the slick tire is for people who want to ride the OneWheel for a hobby alone; they know what kinds of trails, what PSI, blah blah blah, that they want to use the OneWheel at. If you want to ride the OneWheel as a versatile piece of transportation AND as a hobby, the treaded tire reduces slip from both loose terrain AND WET ROADS, since the water actually has a way to escape, and won't cause hydroplaning like the slick tire. So probably look into the treaded tire regardless, and reap the benefits on both terrains.
Sooo I just got a GT after coming from a pint and it’s fucking awesome!!! So much fun and I’m loving the speed and power. Unfortunately, my tire has a lump in it. I cannot see it, but there definitely is one. I tried letting the motor spin freely in case it’s slime, but only for about 30 secs. Thoughts?
@@JoeCaparo I could see mine so I did not use this trick. However it should work fine. I’d suggest getting something flat like a ruler. Set the board upright headlight facing the sky, then with one hand hold the ruler horizontal pushed up against the bumper and as close as possible to the tire where you can still spin it with the other hand. Start spinning the wheel slowly. Look VERY closely while holding the ruler still and spinning to see if the lumped portion of your tire rubs against the ruler. Then you know exactly where the lump is and where to burn down a bit. Mine was on the left side of my tire so I did a normal burnout for like 3 seconds to get the entire tire warm; then angled it to the left side to wear down the uneven section. I believe I did a total of 3 burnouts. Never did it for more than 8 seconds at a time. Side note-Just hold the front footpad with both hands while off the board to force a burnout
