@@TrimaranSpirit I've done that same trek to the peak. That view over the bay is absolutely stunning. And where does that track lead if you follow it over the back of the peak?
Awesome spot, I'm pretty sure everyone that stops there has the same opinion, very bumpy. The last shot with the wake off the leeward ama, was impressive, she gets a gallop on. You guys kicked a goal with that boat, after what you guys made of Spirit I'm sure this boat will be even better. I'm keen to see what mods you make going forward.
Thanks 🙏 yeah we’re pretty excited to get to work on this old girl. We agree we’ve been lucky to find her and pick her up when we did. This passage and time onboard will also allow us to really pin down the changes we want to make and how best to implement them. 👍
I wonder if the monohull had deployed some kind of so called "flopper stopper" or not... Also curious about how much a "flopper stopper" could reduce roll for a monohull in conditions like those.
Flopper stoppers are good but they don’t stop the roll only dampen the frequency of the roll and this definitely decreases the movement. A lot does depend though on the shape of the monohulls underwater sections l, centre of gravity and the height of waves/swell. My old man had them on the ketch we lived on back in the 1980’s and they helped us a lot but she still rolled about in the right conditions.
Glad you got to stretch your legs for a few days. Delos complained about the anchorages there also, it drove them insane. Are you heading for the tuamotos? It's nice there.
Thanks 🙏 yep we’re heading there and for a good few weeks. Atolls, palm trees and flat waters our dream 🤙 and it’s clear why Delos went for a multihull after that episode 😁 but the real secret is that three hulls are three times the fun! 🤩
Spectacular scenery! Tough anchorage. Dogs as tour guides, hilarious. Departure at the will of the wind: the best way to sail. Thank you for the news.
Cheers Pat always a beautiful sight pulling into Nuku Hiva after such a long passage 🙏
Thanks for the update , love the way the boat goes through the water.
Thank you 🙏 yes she’s slices through pretty smoothly when powder up properly.
Hope you got better sleep in your new anchorage. Thanks for the update.
Thanks 🙏 we sure did!
Great work, such a wild looking spot.
Thanks 🙏 yes it’s like the land that time forgot!
Nice work guys, thanks for sharing.
Cheers T we’re looking forward to having you onboard!!

Amazing place,I really hope you find somewhere that’s a lot calmer to get some much needed rest, best wishes always 🙂
Cheers 🍻 since this video was done we’ve managed some good rest and a pretty nice bay to ⚓️ in 😁👍

1:36 graphic example of monohull vs tri roll stability in beam sea.

Yes just one of the many reasons we prefer a boat with more than one hull 😁

cool bananas , great views
We’ve definitely got cool bananas 🍌 onboard!! 😁
