Nicely done; that could have ended in a world of tears.

Win, Win situation that is! Well done, very interesting and good to see it works so smoothly. Cheers, Ian

I have a SNS-3V DRO as well (branded other than Vevor) and I use it on my 2 axis lathe . When the DRO is in lathe-2 or lathe-3 mode, the calculator is not accessible. Very weird, is that also the case on your two Vevo DROs? (mind to put it in lathe mode first)

I will have to check on this, I'm not sure myself, I did have issues with the one on the lathe, but that was probably user issues rather than the DRO 😂. All the best, Matt. 👍

Hmmm. I need one of these now. 🙂

Best thing I've done to this machine so far!! You'll never look at a dial again. The Vevor one is the same ones sold at twice the price, so far its been faultless! I have another one to fit to the lathe, but I need a low profile scale first. All the best, Matt

G’day from Australia Matt. Nice video, love the enthusiasm. My shed is just about finished construction and I’ll be getting myself a small mill to add to my tool arsenal. Like you, I’m not rich, and I’ll also be converting the mill to CNC in the foreseeable future, so a professional grade DRO, or even a regular quality entry level unit is too much of a hit on the budget. Can I ask, have you done accuracy and repeatability tests on this DRO to make sure there’s no non-linearity, hysteresis, or just plain inaccuracy outside of expected/advertised tolerances?
Keep up the good videos, you’ve hooked me in for a subscription to watch at night when out at work camp. And its also good to find somebody making quality content using equipment in my price range while using SI units.

Hi, Thank you for reply, it's much appreciated. I haven't done any accuracy checks, maybe something for a future video? I would say, I'm 99.9% sure, these ones from Vevor are from the same factory that some of the bigger named brands sell at a much inflated price, but with there brand names on. When comparing the scales and the readout with these more expensive brands they are the same mouldings etc.
When I used the readout to machine holes for pre cnc parts, its never missed a hole or been slightly out, and thats with play in the table too. You can do tests and set the readout to compensate if any scale is slightly out, or if you want it set to higher accuracy.
      All the best, Matt.

@@MattChiversWorkshop thanks for the reply Matt, appreciate hearing your experience. Sounds like it should do ok in an accuracy, linearity, hysteresis and repeatability test, which would make a good video. Might do that one myself if you don’t get a chance to.

Nice one Matt. Of course you could be really sneaky and "acquire" a 150mm head for the the spindle travel and link it into the existing z axis through a switch...... Wonder where you could find a scale?

    • @ejparrott
      @ejparrott 2 ปีที่แล้ว

Sumation unit, adds together the outputs from the two scales, then you can freely move either the knee or the quill and not loose your Z setting

You handle stress very well, Matt, much better than I do.
But then I’m old(74), and that’s brings its own stress.
Word of caution, Matt, don’t get old and fat, it’s painful.

Thanks J.Denton, the wife has got me on diet as we speak to loose the lockdown weight I’ve gained over the last couple of years, and I can’t do anything about the other 🤣. All the best, Matt

Hi Edward, I thought I would to be honest, but its protected it from the brass glitter I created in the latest video!! I doubt it will last long, its quality is debatable. All the best, Laters, Matt
