Hey Steve, slowly catching up ;) Have you considered doing a scoring system? Something like 1st - 3 points, 2nd - 2 points, 3rd - 1 point and 4th - 0 points? That way you can have a "winner" per se? I know these videos are more to demonstrate how different rums make completely different drinks and flavours but maybe that could be something to add in the future especially if you wanna take a "winner" to the "next round" haha just a thought, keep up the content, loving it!!
Steve, really nice review. My main drink is rum and coke and Chairman's Reserve (and Chairman's Reserve spIced) are two of my favorites. I recently got a bottle of the El Dorado 12 year and that is also an outstanding rum and coke. On your recommendation I have a bottle of the Pussers Gunpowder spiced rum on order; anxiously awaiting for it to come in. Thanks and keep the reviews/tastings rolling.
Hey Mike, thanks for the feedback. I really don't think you'll be disappointed by the Pussers. Its a great great Rum. Both both won Gold Awards again in the UK.
So interesting how it sort of inverted as you moved from the neat through to the Rum Old Fashioned... it felt as though the qualities that made the Appleton shine later on made it a bit flabby with the earlier tests. So maybe you're becoming a Barbados rum guy! Looking forward to the future comparisons!
Today is National Cocktail day!!! I'm kind of stuck on what to make and I had far too many Mai Thai last night to have that one again today. I was thinking about making an Old Fashioned using a good Rye but I may try my first Rum Old Fashioned. I have a feeling orange bitters would go well with a rum. Let's just put that to the test.
How did the Rum OF go?? Orange Bitters would be a great shout. I'm playing with a Bitters Blend at the moment. Chocolate, Smoke & Oak, Peppercorn at the heart of them. It's great, but not 100% yet.
For me its like whisk(e)y its a mood thing. Sometimes I like fruity, others sweet, at times woody or funky. other than bottom shelf ethanol rums(looking at you lambs) I appreciate them all.
Sainsbury's used to stock Chairman's Reserve until around 3 to 4 years ago. Waitrose i believe does Chairman's spiced, and used to also stock the normal Chairman's about 6-7 years ago. Chairman's and cola is superb.
@@StevetheBarmanUK There's some amazing rums in the St Lucia Distillery portfolio. I normally buy 1 bottle of Admiral Rodney a year. Still to try any of the HMS editions though. Got meself a bottle of Havana Club Seleccion de Maestros on the sipping rum shelf at the mo. One of my personal favourites. When flying through Gibraltar, this is always the duty free choice of all choices IMO. Also have a bottle of Grand Kadoo 8yr Barbadian rum on it's way. No idea what it's like, but decent reviews and a great deal online. Do you know there's been a rum club running for around 15 years in Edinburgh? This is where my rum journey really started. I'm sure Dave Broom will be aware of it. Started in a bar called The Blue Blazer which has best rum selection in Edinburgh of any pub/bar, although don't miss The Voodoo Rooms if ever in town. Great cocktail bar with an exquisite rum selection. Aye.

There's a different Rum for every hour of the day, let alone day of the week! 😂
I love em all, but right now the funky Jamaican’s are high on my list, that said i do love Barbados rums, looking forward to the next vid.
