In 18 years there no much change in English language communication but back then our education was better. My grandfather had better English communication than me. He is a Diploma holder and I am an Engineeing graduate. Even after my Good school CBSE background I cannot match his talent. Reason he shared to me was teaching methods and the standard of education he had in his schools. There was no scheduled Tests or assessments back then, everything was surprise to them back then. So they need to prepare the studies daily and be attentive in the class without any distractions to pass the surprise test. Also the teaching methodology and books they used was so standard. Ms. J Jayalathithaa studied in English catholic convent schools in 1950's so just imagine the standard she had back then.
I can say with confidence that no other Chief Minister in Tamilnadu's history has worked so hard for the developmental progress of the state as I have been doing and as I am doing.
I liked the ending part the most, when JJ says "it wasn't a pleasure talking to you" and doesn't extend her hand for a handshake and instead responds with a Namaste.

I am from Hyderabad and I remember watching this interview on TV in an office cafeteria while working in Chennai in 2004. This interview greatly influenced me. I remembered this interview for so many years and here I am watching again in 2018. She is brave, self controlled and look at the way she retorts to media questions. Hats off to her.

I think its unfair to criticize karan for this interview. Every question that he asked was relevant and the locals here in tamilnadu have always discussed about them. But, Jayalalitha always remained an enigma, never fully understood. Undoubtedly, she won us over despite the shades of gray. Her incredible knowledge, boldness and courage just blew away all of her negatives traits.
Moreover, he HAS to interrupt occasionally and direct the flow of the interv because of the _time limit_ of these (how does no one see it?) That said, JJ is a pleasure to listen to.
What's the point of it if you dont allow her to finish the answer... he seemed only interested in asking question without actually listening to what she had to say.

She handled the interview with a lot of spunk, self confidence and poise. Karan really cut a sorry figure of himself - going round and round about the same questions after they were shot down the first time ... and repeatedly. Not to mention how rude the fellow was! She really managed to eventually cut him down to size.

Reason he shared to me was teaching methods and the standard of education he had in his schools.
There was no scheduled Tests or assessments back then, everything was surprise to them back then. So they need to prepare the studies daily and be attentive in the class without any distractions to pass the surprise test. Also the teaching methodology and books they used was so standard.
Ms. J Jayalathithaa studied in English catholic convent schools in 1950's so just imagine the standard she had back then.
I can say with confidence that no other Chief Minister in Tamilnadu's history has worked so hard for the developmental progress of the state as I have been doing and as I am doing.
I liked the ending part the most, when JJ says "it wasn't a pleasure talking to you" and doesn't extend her hand for a handshake and instead responds with a Namaste.

I think its unfair to criticize karan for this interview. Every question that he asked was relevant and the locals here in tamilnadu have always discussed about them. But, Jayalalitha always remained an enigma, never fully understood. Undoubtedly, she won us over despite the shades of gray. Her incredible knowledge, boldness and courage just blew away all of her negatives traits.
Moreover, he HAS to interrupt occasionally and direct the flow of the interv because of the _time limit_ of these (how does no one see it?) That said, JJ is a pleasure to listen to.
What's the point of it if you dont allow her to finish the answer... he seemed only interested in asking question without actually listening to what she had to say.
I really feel bad that I get to know her more lately, incredible style, composure, vocab.. Like we know more these days, Media is biased for personal gains, otherwise we would have heard more positives of her much before.. even on Dec 5th 2016, Media didnt forget to criticise her for many aspects. Thanks we have Social Media and somehow we could read between lines and acquire more reliable facts.

She handled the interview with a lot of spunk, self confidence and poise. Karan really cut a sorry figure of himself - going round and round about the same questions after they were shot down the first time ... and repeatedly. Not to mention how rude the fellow was! She really managed to eventually cut him down to size.
Rekha Ram Lakshmanan no she did not. She only came across as a bit arrogant and as one used to people kissing her feet all the time, instead of asking her tough questions (which were all based on facts btw)

Such a huge loss for TN. People who tend to walk out of interviews should take a leaf out of Jayalalithaa's book. The self restraint shown by her during this entire interview is amazing and the conclusion is simply a slap on the face of Karan Thapar.
