I agree with everyone. The side stories really make the CT worth watching. Once you start to get behind the personalities, the whole tour just becomes so much more interesting.
5:12 That was awesome. An 11x World Champ helping out a local bloke and being humble in the moment. Would that all sports had GOATs like Kelly and phenoms like Jack.
That was a special moment. I had to replay it several times imagining myself in every part of that interaction. The most successful competitive surfer ever humbly offering advice while acknowledging this grom has this world class wave as dialed as I have my local reefie at 2ft. This entire perspective was a breathtaking look at the behind the scenes of what life at a contest on an epic day looks like. Felipe casually rolling up for the heat, Dad has been hanging out. Watching carefully and going through some rituals to get ready for your favorite wave going off. I can't help but imagine myself being in his shoes when the heat horn goes off, you see everything line up for a cracker wave right at the start and realizing you have all-time conditions all to yourself and one other guy who kinda knows the wave. The flow must've felt surreal. Thank you for sharing these moments
Taj is the one that made jack,he taught him the balancing act of life as a talented young charger. He used to pull back and show fear even in his middle teens then one day his neural pathway development clicked and that is all thanks to Taj because he said that school success was the key to pro surfing success
I'm sure toledo had a lose stool before this matchup... not to mention when out there lol. Watched it live (on telly) and yeah, game over after wave 1.
Haha, love this comment. Im a big fan of Toledo. But, how the fuck do you get that good at surfing and still not feel comfortable in big surf. It just doesn't add up. All that time in the water surfing either 6ft rollins to barrels or just performance waves. Hopefully he figure out his fear and can start sending the big stuff
He sure did,bet he would do the same against whoever. The box is a wave for locals, was at the main break would be an entire different thing . He rips for sure, but that slab only a few surfed more than one or two times.
And the same thing would happen to Jack by Toledo if at J Bay for example. Both talented and both dominate at different surf breaks. Really looking forward to see how Jack will go on the ct this year.
Nah, sad to say, but as NEXT LEVEL INSANELY GOOD of a surfer as Andy was, he was seriously fucked up with bi-polar disorder (or BPD) and crystal meth. This kid doesn't seem that way at all to me.
What happened to the old days at the comp, when the lads were punching cones in the car park, & the camera Dood or Doodess were filming the hotties on the beach & the Birds flying past the break in the middle of the heat. It's now more about discipline of the politically correct ego in the car park, boring. The standard of surfing through the roof, but the styles are all so similar, like personalities & talk of these young groomed pro surfers, almost idenital, like programmed, boring 😕
Italo's wave was better Jack gets free ride into a major event . He should earn it thru QS like everyone else not a fan free rides not fair for other QS ers
If you surf in Morocco 🇲🇦 95% of surfers are dark brown. It's true African people are better runners, basketball, boxing I could go on but you should be able to answer this without causing any trouble 😉

💯
I'm loving these side stories, WSL. Keep them coming!
Had to be THE most dominant heat by a wildcard ever. Epic -- Felipe didn't stand a chance.

yep - for sure ... one of the greatest of all time across all sports, K slater
he surfs with Kelly slot specially in Hawaii
Love this kid! We had the pleasure of watching him take out JOB at Pipe in 2015. Amazing talent!!!
Robbo is one of my favorite surfers. Wish him the best.
These stories make the WSL WAY more interesting and fun to watch the competitors.
Slater:" I dunno what he's gonna do out there to deal with Jack Robbo . . ."
Well done young fella. Great to see how proud his dad was too. 🤙
What a fantastic video, more of this stuff please..!!

Jack will be world champ one day soon.
I used to surf with jacks old man when I was twelve...crazy world🎉🎉🎉
Great feature WSL. We love this stuff! That heat was one for the ages. Felipe is such a good sportsmen.
more behind the scenes videos like these please!
Did that guy wax his feet?
yeah its so after he walks over the slippery rocks he rubs the bottom of his feet on the top of them so they get sticky
Poor ol jack was nervous as ?!%$ at the start. He's got his mind game dialed in now. ABSOLUTELY SMASHED THAT HEAT. POOR FILIPE
great production - well done WSL
Impressive how his surf has grown since the little kid with funny haircut. Cool!!
Jack is super relaxed hand humble
Great perspective and great execution. These are awesome!
Jack will take a world title!

whats the song at 4:51?
He can start his own brand right now. Robo is one of those diamonds in the field.
Great sportsmanship from Filipe tho, as always.
I live sooooo close to Robbo and love surfing there
Lol I live like a 2min bike ride away from him
Makes it that much better when you’ve got boonga for commentary 🤙
he completely schooled Toledo

@@markriobr I don't know much about surfing. Can you tell me why this a is a wave for locals? Like Jack has a better idea of wave selection or what?
And the same thing would happen to Jack by Toledo if at J Bay for example. Both talented and both dominate at different surf breaks. Really looking forward to see how Jack will go on the ct this year.
wax on the top of the feet?
What's the purpose of that, never seen it before.
Loving these 🤙🏻
Unreal jack love his little voice now it’s breaking haha
was a maestro out of element at Pipe
Marrgies is the best spot on tour
Jack in the Box. Nothing better.
great video
I think Toledo was a tiny bit scared??
so sick man !
Grand place
Awesomeness yes
So why is this called “Sound Waves?”
Robbo has cool voice
I love how Toledo pulled up right next to Robbo, trying to get in his head
moeu legal o toledo
Mr.Robinson can rip!
he got that john john thing
6:08, what you’re here for
his voice changes so much he gone puberty
Wax on the top of feet? never seen that before........
Some guys swear by this. Once in the water, you rub it on to the bottom of your other foot for more grip.
Wow...
His girls Instagram tho geesh
Notice kelly doesnt give Filipe any tips lol
❤
More surfing, less personality politics making, & less, O My God look at that, clone comments !
& yes the lad ripps 😎
Andy vibes...

@@joeblow1942 I think he was referring to his surfing mate.
primeira Onda do Ítalo 8'17 comparado com essa primeira do Jack erra pra ser 6.00 kkkkkkk juizada não é de hooj kkkk 8'50 foi piada
Was he doing that high pitch noise on purpose 😂
"Lerching"

Felipe as usual, scare of the big waves
Fliplo was waaaaaaaay out his depth in those conditions! Boy got taught a lesson..
Pro surfing :The sport of midgets haha. Are any of these guys taller than 5ft? Is it because they make the waves look bigger👀
John John, Jordy Smith, and Nathan Florence, And Jamie O’Brien are all over 6 feet tall
@@dallasbob2101 bede durbidge was 6'3
Owen Wright’s pretty damn tall as well.
why does jacko sound like tom holland
More confirmation that Italo got fully burnt by the judges
Did i ask

why's it's all mainly white dudes surfin'. like golf - the other great white sport.
