Saw that the same. The themes are the same too. White supremacist vampires vs. abolitionist vampire hunters. Capitalist vampires vs. union vampire hunters. Both are ruling class parasites vs. the people they exploit.
It was a surprisingly good movie and I love Snoop Dog's work in the film. But then I am kind of a fan of him. It had great car chases and fights. Overall a great and fun film to watch, one I will watch again.

It was a good popcorn movie. Fun light-hearted buddy comedy with decent action fight scenes. But it doesn't feel like a $100 million movie. More like $30 million budget.
I like the inverted Easter eggs like the title Day Shift is a play off Stephen King's Night Shift which contained the vampire story Jerusalem's Lot and Snoop's final line which was a reversal of Lost Boys final line.

Umm ... The main vampire is *not* named Paige. Her name is Audrey. Paige is the name of Bud's daughter. Guess you weren't paying attention. Then again, this wouldn't be the first time you messed up.
I thought the casting was good but I was feeling snobby the day I watched it and thought the core of the story fox and his daughter drama was just too over done in cinema. Good movie brought down by family drama.
A lot of movies add family drama to try to make it more relatable plus pad the runtime. Jordan Peele new movie Nope doesn't do the family drama but adds cast backstory.

Snoop dog doesn't do many films so it's special when he's in it.
