The scene where Li tells Po about his mother is probably one of my favorite scenes in the third movie because you’d think the filmmakers would have just forgotten all about her and just focus on Po and Li but no they actually dedicate a whole scene of Li telling Po how much he loved his wife and how much losing her and his son was so devastating for him and how much it means for him to have found his son again.

I actually don't want her to be alive.. I know that her and Po meeting would be a heartwarming moment but her sacrificing her life in order to save Po was a good tragedy and i woudn't want any plotwists or something like that...

I feel like it would be cool, if got to meet her in the spirit realm. Like he did with oogway.
Po's mother's death is even sadder the Mufasa's death, mainly because in lion king they played sad music over his death, while Po's mom's death they played even sadder music
It's sadder cuz of the circumstances. They both died saving their son, but with Po, we see her say goodbye, we see her tears and the desperate look in her eyes as she tries to quiet her baby, then see her go off, knowing Shen is about to kill her. It's devastating.

Po had it worse. While Scar committed Regicide and Usurpation, Shen committed Genocide, Assassination of Authorities, Oppression, and Use of Weapons of Mass Destruction

Even though she only appeared briefly, Po's mother is probably the most important character in the entire Kung Fu Panda franchise. In sacrificing herself so that her son could live, she indirectly saved China.
That scene hits hard! I cried so much when po's mom left him. But whe had to.
I can just imagine in the new kung fu panda movie there's a black armoured female villain then in the climax she beats up po and in the end of the movie she would go "I am your mother!" And then to a new sequel

You know when Tai Lung says "He's a Panda! You're a Panda!" The thing is is that he could have overhead about Shen and other criminals if the guards were talking about putting more criminals in his prison. I mean I could totally hear the main guard harrassing him saying "Your a criminal and not even a worthy criminal of this prison. Did you hear about the prince of Gong Men City, Shen? He murdered an entire species! Let me tell you, you ain't seeing anymore pandas no more. Now if anyone is worthy of this security, its him. He makes you look pathetic".

Never thought of that. Thanks for mentioning that. I t is possible that Tai Lung could have heard about Shen. Luckily they didn't mention Shen in the first movie because it would have been confusing.
Po's mom was a true mom to the very end. Choosing to sacrifice herself in order for her son to live.

The 2-D animation was meant to represent dreams, not flashbacks.

The Chinese paper art that was shown in the beginning of KFP 2 represents the past.
Its still shown Po's mom's in *3-D* now that made it more sad

Why does Po's dad, who looks to be a warrior in Po's flashbacks/memories in the second movie, as well as a spiritual master of some sort, but is this goofy, relatively incompetent panda in the third?
Old age, I think that's why.
I believe it's a way of him coping his "dead" family by trying to be goofy to try to cheer himself up. And possibly try to cheer up/help the pandas who lost family members in that calamity too.
In the third movie po s dad fought well because he used brute force and wanted to protect his family,in the third movie po s dad still grieves but tries to cheer himself and those around him by being a goofball, also he lost a lot of fighting experience from years staying out of combat and his grief had a huge factor (ex in avengers endgame tony stark due to grief became incompetent for combat in the start of the film)
I think that she is dead but since Po has his dad now his dad could tell Po more about her and maybe their past could be brought up?

I love how the two sequels show that both his parents were very loving and were willing to do anything to make sure their son survived.
Tigress is my favourite Kung Fu Panda character. I have a plush of her that I imagine is Grand Aunt Tigress, a Story which was part of the inspiration of Little Red Riding Hood.
Po's mother was such a gentle and kind soul , too bad she had to leave too soon
She didnt leave Po behind. She left him there and then ran off and alerted the wolves to where she was and let them follow and capture/kill her so that they wouldn't notice Po and he might get to safety in those radish carts which he did. She sacrificed herself.

Sometimes it's important to just jump into stories that I love and Kung Fu Panda is definitely one of them! I've really grown an appreciation for studios beyond Disney throughout my time on TH-cam

I think there’s supposed to be 6 actually
I think po has PSTD because of the past and trauma.
1. He was getting abandoned by his mother and she got killed.
2.He was in guilt by Shen after mentioning the flashbacks and nightmares
3.Lord Shen traumatised him by explaining for what happened
4.Even if po’s asleep, he gets the traumatic event.
I think po has it because of his trauma, past, and stress as he gets all the flashbacks when he sees the symbol on the wolves armor, po was recently traumatised because of the trauma over his mother’s death. PSTD is a disorder that occurs trauma, flashbacks, and traumatic events also nightmares.
As I realised that he has it, yes he let his past go. But I wanted to know what is his mother’s name. You know that everytime he ever sees it. He gets so many of flashbacks. As you know some people has PSTD because of their trauma as I know how they feel about themselves and their loved ones.
I kinda hope she doesn't make a return. It would totally undermine her sacrifice, Po and Li's loss/tragedy, and the extent of Shen's evil. I love her as a character and do hope we learn more about her, but through the lens of Li's memory and maybe some flashbacks.
If Po would meet his Mother again I Would like to See Her with in the Spirit Realm.

I remember seeing the 2nd film in theatres and being very surprised how deep and dark it was. One of the best sequels DreamWorks ever did IMO.

To be very honest, it would be hard to reintroduce Po’s mother back into the scene. Even if she was killed off.
I personally think she's gone. I don't see how she could survive shin and how it would help the story of her tragedy if it turned out she was alive

fun fact that maybe not meny noticed is that the wolf that po's father slugged with the hhammer is the 1 eyed pack leader shen had under his control and killed in the end when he refused to shoot his own men

I remember sobbing uncontrollably at that memory scene as a child and I sobbed again
I've noticed that Kung Fu Panda 3 is kind of like a comeback from Kung Fu Panda 2, mainly because in when we see the Panda Village Raid in the second movie, Po's mom most likely dies but his dad stayed and fought (and survived). And the third movie reveals his father survived and that Po isn't the only Panda, even though he and his dad talked about Po's mom, and remembers the time Shen raided their village. It's like the third movie is showing us the Pandas' recoveries from that tragic event.
I really like how 2 of the Kung Fu Panda villians (Lord Shen and Kai) wanted to attack the Panda village but for different reasons.
You know what would had made king fu panda 3 ending great if po saw his mother in the spirit realm like that would be great po seeing his mother that would had been the saddest scene ever

Yeah, while I’d like to see her return I’d feel as it would take away the weight of the sacrifice she had made.
We might see her in a grave like that be interesting like see where her body laid to rest because we don’t know where her remains are she never got a popular burial now she gets one
the scene with the mom comforting Po makes me cry all the time, even thinking about it 😢 even if we could have gotten more info on the mom in original concept, I think it's a good death that shows the last moment we see her be a wonderful mother

Po inherited his adventurous passion from his father, and his heart from his mother. Mr. Ping built upon that foundation and raised a hero with broth in his veins.
It is far better to eat with the Dragon Warrior, than to battle with him.

I get the story, Po was attacked by the wolf pack and Lord Shen, his mother ran away with him while Li was fighting of the wolves, Po’s mom couldn’t run away from the wolves and she knew she wouldn’t make it alive so she abandoned Po in a radish box and ran away, Po was left alone with no one to help until Mr Ping went out to get his vegetables when he found Po and just couldn’t resist of bringing him inside but Po was crying so much that Mr Ping decided to bring him into his kitchen and decided to adopt him as his own son, the end

One detail in the sequel always stuck out to me when it came to the past flashback.
Lee The panda that would be used as a joke fighter in the third movie was quite the badass in the sequel. That hammer swing he does in the flashback does more than knock the wolves away so his wife and kid can get away. It in fact blinds one of the wolves in one eye, the very wolf that becomes a recurring obstacle to Po in the sequel, Is the same one shown chasing Po and his Mom and would ultimately be later cut down my Shen for refusing to fire on his own men.
I noticed that to, KFP 3 was not that good to me.
Arctic Fox 0406 in comparison to the other two it would be the lowest point, but it’s still had a lot of good points to it, it unfortunately got bogged down a little bit with the over reliance on Chi being the deciding factor of battle. And the rest of the pandas being a pseudo-pre-kung fu Po.

The memory scene is the saddest scene in the Kung Fu Panda franchise. Not to mention the scene kinda reminds you of The Ten Commandments

Out of the three Kung Fu Panda movies , the second one to me is the darkest because of the panda genocide which was a Yikes to me as a kid

What also would be a great next movie plot : What if master oogway find po's mom in the spirit realm but, also finds tai-lung. Tai-lung would feel compassion from po's mother's story and is determined to find po and make up for his mistakes. while oogway sends him and po's mother out of the spiritrealm for a specific time. if they would not make things right he would be send back but also po's mother (there futures are linked). he could search for 4 things with po's mothers help, po's vergifnes. but with po's help has to find his own familie for closure and understanding. At last while he could not fase chefu before, for his last task he must find love and so he wil make things right with shefu. (He would also find danger while trying to find his parents (it is Kung Fu after all))Kung Fu Panda 4 redemption i would call it.

Honestly, it would be nice for a sequel to reveal his mom was captured and possibly brainwashed. This way Po has to try to get through to her and it brings up a strong conflict. Like the others not believing she can come back from it, but Po being who he is believe he can get through to his mom and save her. Then off to tackle the real villain.
