- This video describes the complete procedure for removing factory speakers in an BMW 5 Series or M5 (F10) 2010+ Sedan with the HiFI system and replacing them with Bavsound's STAGE I factory speaker upgrade kit. This kit is very simple to install and perfectly replaces the factory speakers with better sounding, superior quality Bavsound drivers. Perfect fit and impedance, durable materials such as fiberglass curvilinear cone structures, bottomless voicecoils, etc. The guide covers all speaker locations found in the HiFi system. Additional videos will cover the Harman Kardon systems.
*Note: For F11 Wagons, the installation will take place in the roof of the hatch area as opposed to the rear deck shown in the video. The speakers used are identical, you're just working upside down.

Really good video. I've never done this before and got them all installed in about three hours. Two areas that need more explanation: the handle piece needs a close up to give a better idea of how to pull it off - it's a bit tricky. And re installing the door panel - the plastic lock piece should stay on the rod and push through the panel. My first one stuck to the panel and at first I couldn't figure out how to get the rod to poke through.

Great video! The hardest part was to unplug the clips from the main panel on the doors. The sound is worth it.
there is actually no need to unplug any wires or unclips.

Yeah sooo...Definitely appreciate the encouragement but that door panel removal is nowhere near that easy. Mind you, it could be different if the panel has been taken off before but the first time removal is nowhere near this smooth. Nothing wants to give.
Do you have to unplug the battery before replacing the driver side speaker?
I don't have these triangle tweeters next to the side mirrors. Do you have a guide on how to install these?
Do you have to disconnect the battery before removing the door? And I noticed that the dashboard speaker did not originally have a tweeter or screws so when I do receive mine will there by an additional 2 screws to hold that tweeter down?

I have a 2008 E60 and I don't even see a reason to update the speakers. I think they're great, every single one of them. And I do pump up the volume quite often. Low, mid or high tones, they are all perfect. The worst sound system I ever encountered was in my Saabs... There was almost no bass. I had to put bass settings on max and I still didn't have 'bass'. The only thing that happened was that the sound got distorted...

Hi Rip, sorry for the slow reply (for faster response try our website). . . Our website actually has a write up about this as well if you input your car and click the "?" mark. You'll want to look at this or contact our customer service to be 100% sure but in short if you have a center-channel you probably have the HK or Logic 7 system. If you have tweeters in the front doors but no center channel it's probably Hi-Fi. Hope this helps!

Yes, all you would need to know is the type of radio you have Hi-Fi, Harmon Kardon, etc. Order from the bavsound site, select you radio and car and it’s that easy. I just picked this system up and so far it’s a pretty easy install.

My car is also said to have 6 speakers, no centre speakers, I can find 2 on the doors and 2 on the back. where is the other 2?

1. Would you say the Bav upgrade to the stock system sounds better than the HK upgraded system from the factory?
2. Does the stock system come with a factory sub?
3. Can a lease be turned in with the Bav speakers or must they be removed? Just in case I get lazy down the road. Lol
eddie33081 Hi Eddie, the Bavsound-upgraded BASE or HIFI systems will sound MUCH more pleasing to the ear and have infinitely more mid-bass, midrange and treble clarity, detail, and dynamics. The factory subwoofers will remain the same for each system however (all systems come with BMW OEM factory subs under the front seats. We will have a replacement in a matter of months!). The Harman Kardon system has more speakers and a more powerful amp, and thus sounds the best after being upgraded, BUT the Base and HiFi systems are superior to the Harman Kardon systems in terms of sheer SQ and listening enjoyment after they've been retrofitted with a Bavsound upgrade.

Hi Mehmed, the Bavsound Stage I only replaces what's already there. You can't add anything because the amp doesn't have that channel in the car. You could upgrade the entire system including head unit, amp, etc but that's probably more trouble than it's worth. Just choose the Stage I for your BMW system and it will sound phenomenal. Thanks!

Any solution for Euro cars? I live in France and have an F10. Unfortunately, I didn't realize that the base stereo in Europe is actually worse than what is available in the US. It only has 6 speakers. I was planning to upgrade the speakers with the "top hifi" OEM parts. Your solution seems more interesting to me but I can't make use of all speakers in the package (no center channel wiring, for instance). Is there any solution available for me?
sorry this is a bit late, see if you can purchase just their 2 way component sets, add tweeters to the front by buying separate tweeter housing with mesh grill and rear tweeters that can plug in the empty space next to rear speakers in the shelf and buy their underseat subs separately, I'm just buying hifi tweeters and making my F10 a 10 speaker system as I did that to my 1 series and was more than happy. Hope this helps.

guys if you only changing speakers with no upgrade to amplifier or DSP then u wont feel any difference,so don't regret wasting money only in speaker upgrade.

Screw these overpriced whack speakers! Get some German MB Quart bmw speakers, super high quality, amazing sound for way way cheaper! Get all the premium BMW MB Quart speaker set for less than $1K and all plug and play!

Too bad I'm in Sweden. :-) I'm thinking about upgrading the standard stereo in my F10. Would you say stage 1 is comparable to BMW's HiFi system?
Snilsson We ship all over world! No, our Stage 1 sounds much much much better than the HiFi system. The clarity and micro-dynamics even far surpass the HK system, although the HK system does come standard with a more powerful amp and subwoofers, therefore the Bavsound-upgraded HK system is the best sounding of all. I would choose a Bavsound HiFi over the stock HK system any day. The stock HK speakers are lacking in detail and have some very harsh frequency spikes which we have eliminated.
