actually defensively garcia did worst but it's just it's his night and not to mention haney is exhausted having to train and cut weight for months whilst garcia is well rested and in his comfortable weight
Ricardo Fernandez highlight reeling Alan Garcia. I know it wasn't a title fight but in terms of everything that happened it was crazy. Ricardo had only travelled out of Spain twice before to fight going 1-1. He had only stopped 1 previous opponent by TKO. Sandro Hernandez, who although has a record of 15 (10) - 36 (19) - 3, was on a 24 fight losing streak. He only really appears to have looked good against 1 opponent with a winning record (This is on paper though). Alan had only been stopped once before as an amateur to Nathan Lugo in 2017, who seems to be a pretty good puncher as an amateur and professional. He had all the advantages going in. Youth, height, reach, could even say he fought better journeymen. Right up until the punch Ricardo looked no where near in the fight. I think he was also as high as a 15-1 underdog and that was just for the win, by knockout could've been as high as 30-1
I wasn't aware that Ginjiro Shigeoka fought and lost. I try to keep up with upcoming fights using the boxing app called Boxing Showtimes, but it seems to mostly cover American events and shows few Asian boxing events. Anyway, I was really hoping that, in a fantasy world, Ginjiro Shigeoka and Yudai Shigeoka would keep their belts and fight Oscar Collazo since he is the Ring champion. Oscar Collazo already defeated Melvin Jerusalem. I think it would be a great rivalry and storyline in the Japanese boxing world, reviving interest in that weight class. Thammanoon Niyomtrong and Knockout CP Freshmart were holding that weight class hostage, as they were both managed by the same manager.
I don't get how people we're surprised by murtazaliev. I mean, it was an impressive win, but I could see it coming. Anyone who knows eastern fighters knows how good murtazaliev is
I wasn't as surprised as a lot of people were about AJ and Dubois. I don't think either guy defend well against the right hand, and both guys can punch. I looked at it like a coin toss. The first guy to land a clean right hand wins
I watched the tsyzu vs bahkram fight in person and that shit was wild. Every one was shouting Tsyzu name when we walked, the whole atmosphere changed when he got dropped for the 1st time
Joshua need to retire early before something worse will happen to him.. he has a glass head since Ruiz dismantled him. He just can't recover anymore when gets hit by a heavy punch. Forget about money and legacy coz next time he might wake up at the pearly gates and that would be more tragic.
Haney vs Ryan wasnt an upset at all Ryan was the best at 135 imo lost due to a weight drain besides that he isnt losing at 140 for sure probably needs to be at 147
I love that you nail the moral. I think it's especially true in boxing where everyone is a puncher in a fight where both fighters already at least have a punchers chance of winning.
The Taduran and Shigeoka fight was really great, Actually, I train in the same gym where Taduran trains, we never really talk much, but if we do he would correct my punching mistake and he's a great guy
The online narrative is that “Devin Haney is trash” but Ryan getting a decision victory that later got overturned due to him failing drug tests is an upset.. How exactly?
It doesn't matter what you have in your system. What matters is how much. Ryan had trace amounts of a cutting agent in his system. He was being randomly tested throughout training so it wasn't something he was taking the entire time. And the amount in his system was far, far too small to make any difference. He took a drug test 2 weeks before the fight and that one was clean. But the one before fight night was tainted. 2 weeks is no where near enough time for a drug to have a significant enough effect. Especially trace amounts. In reality you followed the online narrative mate. Haney lost that fight. All Garcia has is power and Haney fell for the trap and tried to slug it out
@@79pros That’s because Loma literally gave him the WBC belt for free and he also gave him an opportunity to fight Kamboses. Kamboses wanted Loma not Haney and Loma decided to go back to his country because of the war. He can thank Loma for that opportunity.
What has to be mentioned about murtazaliev is that he fought Culcay in Ramadan. He was actively fasting at that point. Therefore the drastic difference in perfomance
Dubois was a sizeable underdog. I backed him at +370 and was still surprised by how he destroyed AJ in just a few rounds. It was certainly a big upset.
The bookies dont make Underdogs or Favorits.. They mostly arent Fans and judge only per Stats... Everyone who follows boxing closly knew DDD is gonna handle AJ..
Delete the Ryan Garcia upset-he tested positive for steroids. You could have included the surprising loss by Pitbull Cruz to a virtual unknown in his first title defense. Rafael Espinoza won a close fight against Robeisi Ramirez that almost made the cut. It happened at the tail end of 2023.
Haney getting destroyed by Garcia was by far my favorite sports moment of the year, and I follow every major sport.
American boxing is fucking lame . All those clean shots and Ryan still couldn’t stop Haney, so much for having “crazy” power
