That came perfectly, out of nowhere... I mean, it's been here next to me All'ah along, but I just caught that the significance and the beauty of the song is going to lead Me out of nowhere...
The melody sounds like something happier, it moves away from the melancholy that the original song has. The lyrics are still raw, but the melody gives the song a much more calming and peaceful tone.
This is another awesome Smiths upload Ann! Coda quite a bit different and dare I say somewhat unpolished compared to the version I'm familiar with. I sometimes sing the line "I'm not the man you think I am" quite loudly when I'm waiting in line somewhere, with no further clarification for those listening and curious enough to even care.
Upon the sand, upon the bay "There is a quick and easy way" you say Before you illustrate I'd rather state I'm not the man you think I am I'm not the man you think I am And sorrow's native son He will not smile for anyone And pretty girls make graves End of the pier, end of the bay You tug my arm, and say "give in to lust Give up to lust, oh heaven knows we'll Soon be dust" Oh, I'm not the man you think I am I'm not the man you think I am And sorrow's native son He will not rise for anyone And pretty girls make graves (Oh, really?) I could have been wild and I could have been free But nature played this trick on me She wants it now And she will not wait But she's too rough And I'm too delicate Then, on the sand Another man, he takes her hand A smile lights up her stupid face (And well, it would) I lost my faith in womanhood I lost my faith in womanhood I lost my faith Hand in glove The sun shines out of our behinds

Best version!

Love the way Johnny's electric guitar comes in - perfection
@@anncoates4104 And how good are Morrissey's vocals? One take - live'- with just some slight chorus/'reverb effect. Sublime ✔
👏👏👏👏👏👏👏👏👏 Clássicos desde sempre!!!!👏👏👏👏👏👏👏👏
Brutally good version of that awesome song… and pretty girls make graves.
❤❤❤
Upon the sand, upon the bay
"There is a quick and easy way" you say
Before you illustrate
I'd rather state
I'm not the man you think I am
I'm not the man you think I am
And sorrow's native son
He will not smile for anyone
And pretty girls make graves
End of the pier, end of the bay
You tug my arm, and say "give in to lust
Give up to lust, oh heaven knows we'll
Soon be dust"
Oh, I'm not the man you think I am
I'm not the man you think I am
And sorrow's native son
He will not rise for anyone
And pretty girls make graves
(Oh, really?)
I could have been wild and I could have been free
But nature played this trick on me
She wants it now
And she will not wait
But she's too rough
And I'm too delicate
Then, on the sand
Another man, he takes her hand
A smile lights up her stupid face
(And well, it would)
I lost my faith in womanhood
I lost my faith in womanhood
I lost my faith
Hand in glove
The sun shines out of our behinds
Tasty raw and subtle from Johnny. Morrissey at this time is still unmatched. Too bad he turned toward fame and hatred.
Indeed Morrissey‘s evolution is so sad, so bad, so hard to believe. I still think and am convinced he‘s been good.
